  • amazing <3

  • Can anyone tell me where the F6 is from at 2:25?

  • @caltrask51 II Allegro.

  • Why did you say lower chest in the beginning.she was singing in head voice throughout. I would imagine she can go lower in chest voice

  • @okebaram Huh? The "Lower Chest" title was meant to indicate that the G#3 was coming up in the video, not the actual clip that was playing behind it.

  • @BZBlaner It's the clip with the "G#3" that I am talking about. The "G#3" was in head voice not chest voice.

  • @okebaram That is far, FAR from head voice.

  • @BZBlaner You are KIDDING! That is head voice! Just because it is low, you think it is chest voice? Absolutely not. She's a classical soprano so it is not surprising that she would do that. If you can't hear that that is head voice, don't know what to tell you

  • @okebaram She was using her TA muscles not CT.

  • @BZBlaner um...how do you know what muscle she used? i have a friend who sings a c6 in her head voice.

  • @BZBlaner if she were using her true chest voice it would sound much darker and be MUCH louder

  • @danefritz2006 No....she's a soprano, thus her lower chest isn't going to be dark.

And why would it be MUCH louder seeing as that's the least developed part of her voice?

  • @Chimier *least used part*

  • @Chimier FACT remains, regardless, she sang that G#3 in head voice not chest voice. Yes her chest voice will tend to be much darker, soprano or not, everybody's chest voice is significantly darker & stronger than head voice hence the often noticeable switch. The relative thickness to her head voice on that G#3, because it is low and her approach, does not bring it anywhere near chest voice. Also, she's a classical soprano DOES NOT mean her chest voice won't be dark!

  • @okebaram No.....

#1- That is NOT TRUE. Classical soprano usually have MUCH stronger/developed upper register than lower register.

#2- The placement of the note sounded NOTHING like head voice.

IDK where you got "everyone's chest voice is significantly darker and stronger than head voice". Not true. That depends on vocal fach, tessitura, and technique. There's a difference between "every chest voice is dark" and "chest voice is darker than head voice".

  • @okebaram No, that is deffinetely chest voice. Not only can you see the difference, but you can even spot the exact point she switches to chest, on that C4. She sang in head voice F#5, D#5, C5, G#4, F#4. D#4. then on chest voice the last two notes, C4 and finally G#3. Listen closely, you can see that.

  • @killerbunny123123 As you can see, arguing will only bring insults from the self-made muscial experts on youtube, so I will keep my expertise to myself. My humble but proficient observation is that note was in head voice. With the necessary technique and taking the head voice that low, it can be expected to have a mixed quality and that's the "switch" but she did not switch registers, which demonstrates skill. But we can agree to disagree because there's no point arguing.

  • @okebaram Well, when it comes to me i had no intention to insult you. And yes, those "musicians" can be quite sad in their pityful insults, thinking they are more clever, educated or knowing than anyone else, when in fact they are nothing. When it comes to Natalie, she is my favourite soprano and i have heard enough of her voice, singing voice, speaking voice and modern music singing to recognize her chest voice when i hear it. I dont know if you have heard enough Dessay but since you-

  • @okebaram -insist so much, i believe you would have good reason to believe so.

  • @okebaram Umm, I can't really think of ANYONE who uses head voice down to the 3rd octave unless you happen to be male and have a low voice. For heaven's sake, I'M a guy and can barely use head voice to an A3. Given that Dessay is a rather freakishly high soprano, we can safely assume that she's using chest voice below an F4.

  • @Wagnerlover777 that's not a good analogy. A lot of women can get to G#3 in head voice, and it's not a soprano thing because some sopranos can go quite low. Dessay for one has that versatility. I would be surprised if you actually could only do that note in chest voice. I can go an octave lower without switching to chest but I'm a guy who can sing bass. There's no need to assume anything. I can hear what she is using and she was still in head voice. Leave assumptions and listen well

  • @okebaram Alright, then let me put it this way: you are either delusional or impossibly stubborn, because it is PHYSICALLY IMPOSSIBLE to be a soprano and have head voice go down to G#3. Believe me- I've met enough sopranos. Hell, I'd be hard-pressed to find a contralto capable of doing that. There is simply no possible way she was hitting that note in head voice, and in the case of "listening well", I think you need to have your hearing checked.

  • @Wagnerlover777 you are hilarious. I don't envy your close-mindedness. Farewell. I've got better things to do.

  • @okebaram Hon, I just listened to that note 50 times in a row trying to find an ounce of truth to whatever you were saying. You weren't. Dear God, if THIS many people are telling you you're wrong, you're fucking wrong.

  • You should check out Violetta Villas vocal range.

  • perhaps i read it wrong but i think i remembered reading somewhere she reached A6 when she sung fruhlingstimmenwaltzen ? in the 90s perhaps? please do correct me if i am wrong :)

  • @tris648 I know an instance of a gospel soprano singing all the way to an incredible A6, and she is in the sky throughout the video... unbelievable range. Search Cheryl L.Trusdale to find the video where she sings Guide Me Thou Great Jehovah

  • Love this woman's E6s. Some of the best from any opera singer, soprano or otherwise. She's one of the only ones who can sing F#6-G#6 and make it sound pleasant. Other highlights, the C6. C#6, and Eb6.

  • @Devotedlamb19 She was one hell of a coloratura soprano in her prime, and probably the greatest we have seen in the last 30 years.

  • Fuck how can someone hit those notes in head voice? She's fabluzzzz!

  • @RenanLikey well she hits them in "superhead" voice which is the whistle register but with color and fullness given to it. She has a very versatile & whistle connected register. And yes, in spite of the claims, opera sopranos do use whistle. I have heard people get into them extremely high notes in head voice though, like Carla Maffioletti

  • Amazing video! Hot ass pic :P Incredible voice and agility in head voice :)

  • I love her!
