@CorporateNothing Thanks moron...but anytime someone makes fun of a crash where someone died, I think I do have business calling them moron...and "your" too - FUCKING moron! Now fuck off loser who has nothing better to say.
When I first heard of this accident i imagined that was a slow roll close to ground and engine out but not so and is controlled forced landing and if they could have made a good landing area should have been ok but in rough area can flip over. I know she loved her life and probably felt like luckiest person in world doing this
guys/gals please dont bash me to much but iv watched this video alot and feel horrible about what happened to them and the passing of amanda. i watch this vid and keep wondering what wld of happened if kyle wld of kept the nose down to keep bis airspeed up, i know he climbed some to give amanda time to vet in the plane but in my mind i just wonder, i know what happened happened but i still wonder.
@cott10r I agree too sir, however i think he had just split seconds to make decisions and loaded with responsibities now with engine on fire, lack of altitude and Amanda still secured on the wings, just at that time everything was supposed to fall right in place, unfortunately it didn't. Kyle did his best i'm sure although maybe there might have been better alternates but it wasn't going to be easy. This is very bad. I'm very sorry and my condolescence to their families.
And, the "guy" on the wing was not a guy, that was a helluva woman. And she was the wife of the man flying the airplane. And she didn't need a parachute, there wasn't time to use it if she had one, and a parachute would interfere with a wing walkers agility. She died several weeks later from burn injuries. The crash was caused by engine failure, not pilot error. Sheer bad, terrible luck.
eman, do a little research, there is an incredible story that leads up to this crash. You proudly call yourself a Christian so you must believe in the institution of marriage. Well, this is a love story of epic, legendary dimensions. Family values all throughout.
Oh my lord, I am crying uncontrollably right now, I did not know about this until I saw this video. I saw the fathers of both of these great, fearless young people perform at the Indianapolis airshow some years ago, and it was the most amazing thing I have ever seen.
Our country has thrived because there have always been people who saw the big picture, that living is more important than surviving.
I've seen Kyle (pilot) AND his Dad (Jimmy Franklin) perform many times in Calif. since the 1980s-90s. I just learned that Jimmy F. was killed in a collision with Bobby Younkin during a routine in 2006. Amanda, the woman on the wing...was Bobby Y.'s daughter. I think Kyle & Amanda went thru the grieving process over their Dads together, fell in Love & Married. SEARCH: Amanda Franklin Tribute. Some beautiful footage & music. A couple of different videos.
UPDATE: Amanda Franklin is being treated at the Brooke Army Medical Center's Burn Unit (one of the best in the world), and she's making amazing progress. But she's got numerous surgeries, skin grafts, and a lotta physical therapy ahead of her. Funds have been established to help cover the massive medical costs involved; go to the FRANKLIN AIRSHOWS website to find out how you can donate.
He has a point, even if you don't grasp it. You are the one giving a camera features lecture in your first post on the tragic event. It may not be clear to you but he is referring to just that kind of callousness
Just so I am not misunderstood I was referencing the posts here of the people discussing the cameras rather than the sad event, apparently I was misunderstood. I know many aerobatic show pilots and am saddened by evey aerobatic incident .but posts like this should be about the people not a discussion of camera equipment. Hope this clarifies misconceptions..
@AERIALBOY1 You are a sick and twisted puppy. Nobody wants to see a crash. Not the attendees or the performers. That you would think anyone would want to see this happen strongly suggests that you need help.
No airshow enthusiast EVER wants to see a crash. We love the sport of flying, and like to watch airplanes fly, not crash. We have been long time fans of the Franklins and Younkins. When we heard the news, we wanted to see what went wrong with the flight. We do not get enjoyment from other people's pain. The airshow community is tight and very supportive. Our hearts and prayers go out to the Franklin and Younkin families.
T73 I don't have a "camcorder" and my zoom does not adjust when shooting which this device actually does. What camera was being used? I guess it would suck to HAVE to use auto focus and not being able to shut it off. Mine is the result of repeated drop testing, not a setting. Always nice to hear from Pulitzer winners though.
They were a married couple from Neosho, Missouri. News reports from Springfield say they were both burned over 60% of their bodies. Both of their fathers were killed in an airshow in 2005.
Ricky, great video. I know that it sucks that they crashed, but your video actually zooms in when they crash, better than the other videos I've seen of this accident. So sad! I was driving by, and actually saw everything except the crash. Thanks for sharing! I hope the pilots recover from their injuries soon, and that they continue to fly.
I couldn't believe it was happening while I was watching it. It's nice to find out Amanda made it back inside in time and Kyle managed to land straight and level. Awesome display of skill. I know firsthand BAMC's burn trauma unit is the best in the country and will get them all fixed up.
Did both die.
