They are is good as they say it is, however they get a little pricey. I was in the market for a 1/2 ton and it came down to f150 vs tundra vs tacoma, all regular cab 4x4. The f150 and the tacoma came to the same price of about $23,000 and the tundra was in the $30,000s for just a base v8 4x4. After getting treated poorly at the ford dealership although the product was nice, I ended up with a base 4x4 tacoma. Its been a great truck so far and for only a four banger, you can still tow 4-5000lbs.

@CrashJSTest Ride is just fine and the drive train of the Camry is fine (needs more than a 4speed) its all of how it is made inside. That is what is wrong with it. Many are even worse than them. Its not the best selling in America. F-150 and the GMC/Chevy 1500 are. I like mine but it is up for sale. You look at the center console and the parts on the dash and try to wiggle things. Its quite bad.

NASA, already tested the ECU's. Those were NOT the problem. Manufacturing tolerances of the pedal assembly were too tight.

Since the Union has the two in a bad position, Ford decided to move the factories to Mexico. Also, Toyota never had a problem with the Union, they have their factories in the South. So far, it appears that Toyota and Ford are in better shape, plus, they haven't filed for Chapter 11.

In a truck, it really doesn't matter how much fuel efficient it is, just if it can tow and haul. Chevy mainly didn't see it that way, so they made XFE and a Hybrid truck. Ford also made a SFE, which is pretty much is the same as Chevy's. In neither one of those match the power of a Dodge or a Toyota.

The Tundra can "outpull" any diesel currently available (by "outpull" I mean reach highway speeds quicker when towing 8,000 to 9,000 lbs). Furthermore the Tundra's 4wd system is very similar to the one used in the FJCruiser, which is considered by many to be as capable offroad as any vehicle available for under $30,000.

While still poor, it is the best of its type by a slender margin."
Well first off consumer reports does do testing .but bases their quality results on their readers who send in their opinons not facts so your a fool. the truck with the best results for 2008 was the chevy silverado which has 403 hp and out pulled, out classed the toyota in every test. As for the frame, if you ever get T boned in the side like I have then you would want to be in anything but a Toyota. Oh and I have owned one and never would again. Oh and Nissian had the best results for 2009.

as a mechanic I will have to say toyotas are the least worked on vehicle that comes into the shop and when it is a major job the vehicle always has at least 200,000 or more miles on it keep the oil changed in them and the timing belt replaced at the proper intervals and it will never let you down. fords gm and chrysler vehciles are designed to fail ford lots of driveability issues gm fuel pumps intakes gaskets damn near every switch, chrysler all of the above toyota rules

The competition from the Tundra has pushes other truck makes to improve their products at a lower cost. This means longer lasting, more capable products that cost less money. THAT is what helps build industrialized nations jeff, becoming more efficient and saving consumers money at the same time.

They are is good as they say it is, however they get a little pricey. I was in the market for a 1/2 ton and it came down to f150 vs tundra vs tacoma, all regular cab 4x4. The f150 and the tacoma came to the same price of about $23,000 and the tundra was in the $30,000s for just a base v8 4x4. After getting treated poorly at the ford dealership although the product was nice, I ended up with a base 4x4 tacoma. Its been a great truck so far and for only a four banger, you can still tow 4-5000lbs.

Its not the best selling in America. F-150 and the GMC/Chevy 1500 are. I like mine but it is up for sale. You look at the center console and the parts on the dash and try to wiggle things. Its quite bad.

I own one too (Video on my account) and it is reliable but is going down hill; but it is well built also a 2003. After about 2005 they went to shit. You walk up to a new Camry and parts fall out on your hand. Not shitting you ether. The shifter twists around and the center console feels like it came from dollar tree.

The Chevy may not have style you like (I like the flat dash) but it is built better and so is the Ram and F series. The under body rusts faster than US trucks. The trucks they got back, had more than 200,000 miles on them. It wasn't to avoid lawsuits. I got the recall for my frame. I didn't turn mine in. Truck is still going strong, after 300,000 miles. NASA, already tested the ECU's. Those were NOT the problem. Manufacturing tolerances of the pedal assembly were too tight.

What about their frames rusting out after periods as short as 6 years? If my frame rusted out on my F-150 with all the work that i do. Basically, GM and Chrysler aren't doing so good is because of the management of the factories and quality, which lead to the sales. Since the Union has the two in a bad position, Ford decided to move the factories to Mexico. Also, Toyota never had a problem with the Union, they have their factories in the South. So far, it appears that Toyota and Ford are in better shape, plus, they haven't filed for Chapter 11.

In a truck, it really doesn't matter how much fuel efficient it is, just if it can tow and haul. Chevy mainly didn't see it that way, so they made XFE and a Hybrid truck. Ford also made a SFE, which is pretty much is the same as Chevy's. In neither one of those match the power of a Dodge or a Toyota.

Who wants to bet they start Dyno tests and find they are lucky to get 375HP out of the new Chevys?? They will find the same on the FORD too. It will be just like when the rolled out the new RX8, lol! They might get 400 HP in the dyno room but as soon as they hit the streets I bet it drops off within 1000 mile.
Oh, and my 08 Tundra does take off and stop just like this video. Hell, it stops better than the wifes BMW!

Please, I have owned Toyota cars and have had a toyota truck in the past. I don't buy a myth, I know from experience that all vehicles have problems. I know people who own farms and don't care what they drive. These guys said they couldn't pull crap and got stuck very easy.
All I know is their overated and if you get in an accident they will fold like a tin can. Their frame sucks.

The Tundra can "outpull" any diesel currently available (by "outpull" I mean reach highway speeds quicker when towing 8,000 to 9,000 lbs). Furthermore the Tundra's 4wd system is very similar to the one used in the FJCruiser, which is considered by many to be as capable offroad as any vehicle available for under $30,000.

Where do you get your information from the TOY web site. the silverado out pulled the tundra, Lets not even start with a diesel which would rip that crapy frame of a toyota in half. Maybe they will catch up but right now their nothing but a yuppie grocery getter. As for wages, yes their labor is less because their wages suck, their benefits suck and they have no pensions which adds to american labor cost. Also they can sell here free of charge but american cars get hit with taxes when imported.

Consumer Reports did a test actually, they tested all the way up to 6.7 L Cummins Turbo Diesel. This is what they said about the Tundra:
"The Tundra is a very able off-roader, despite its low-hanging running boards. It pulled our 7,400-pound trailer to 60 mph in a very quick 16.1 seconds... making the Tundra notably quicker than other competing trucks. Our truck averaged 15 mpg overall. While still poor, it is the best of its type by a slender margin."

Well first off consumer reports does do testing .but bases their quality results on their readers who send in their opinons not facts so your a fool. the truck with the best results for 2008 was the chevy silverado which has 403 hp and out pulled, out classed the toyota in every test. As for the frame, if you ever get T boned in the side like I have then you would want to be in anything but a Toyota. Oh and I have owned one and never would again. Oh and Nissian had the best results for 2009.

What is funny is that the Tundra's that were "rated" (by consumer surveys mind you) were the 2007's. The 2008's were rated avg or above average in everything.

Additionally in watching their video regarding the Silverado, one of the things they highlighted as being a "plus" is that it is lower to the ground than the competitors, making it easier to get into.

Lastly, as far as I can tell, Consumer Reports has not released its top picks for 2009. The truck they have listed as their best in class for large pickups for 2009 is the Chevy Avalance... unfortunately it's not even a large pickup so that rating is virtually worthless.

as a mechanic I will have to say toyotas are the least worked on vehicle that comes into the shop and when it is a major job the vehicle always has at least 200,000 or more miles on it keep the oil changed in them and the timing belt replaced at the proper intervals and it will never let you down. fords gm and chrysler vehciles are designed to fail ford lots of driveability issues gm fuel pumps intakes gaskets damn near every switch, chrysler all of the above toyota rules

I am unaware of any Toyota recalls that involved a safety issue that was the direct cause of a Toyota owners death.
Perhaps you can dig that one up for me. I have already provided TWO examples of Ford recalls that fit that description. And those are within the last 10-15 years.

If you are so worried about remembering my "forefathers" then why aren't you worried about remembering those that have died this decade? It would only make logical sense that the deaths caused by Ford vehicles would result in a large grudge against Ford than the grudge you hold against Toyota for deaths caused by the nation that Toyota locates it's headquarters?

christangel, the commercial clearly states actual demonstration. It was done by the ACSI and the making of video is provided on youtube as well.
Furthermore why does it even matter if this is a real video. Can this truck not do what was demonstrated here? Can it not accelerate to 70 MPH faster than any truck available and brake from that speed in a shorter distance than any truck available as well?
The point is that it does these things better than the competition.

How about Ford, they sold vehicles that led to numerous owners deaths. Whether through rollovers or vehicle fires more than a few owners died as a direct result of Fords vehicles.
What is astonishing is that you hold a grudge against Toyota simply for being Japanese and not against Ford despite their direct relationship to producing a vehicle that killed it's owner.

The little things add up jeff. I was referring to the items like the safety features (that Ford is now making standard on it's trucks) the Toyota introduced as standard features to this market. The competition from the Tundra has pushes other truck makes to improve their products at a lower cost. This means longer lasting, more capable products that cost less money. THAT is what helps build industrialized nations jeff, becoming more efficient and saving consumers money at the same time.

the little things that would have been here by now (or in 2004 in fords case) without toyotas input. the competition between gm, ford, and dodge is the reason for updates every 4-6 years. very few things actually cost less these days. more capable products usually cost more. not sure where youre coming from there.
