neil pearts style and technique are so much more advanced than any other drummer i have seen. His beats are so hard to tap your foot too cause they're always complicated and he makes the song what it is. Long live NEIL PEART!
Oh not again.Goddamnnit.What the fuck.why so much fuckin concerne about copywrites and shit.Who gives a fuck?Just let us hear the fuckin sound.Fuck man.
I matched the drumming with the cd version of the song on iTunes. If you do the same, you will notice a huge difference at the 4:20 mark. This version on Youtube is about 10-15 seconds longer than the original cd version. I found that interesting.
hey hes alot better actually he is better than anyone else I know there not the only band I like but look up malignant narcissism drum solo hes friegen the best drummer ever not just in my opinion hes been voted the best before.
Anyone who thinks that Neil Peart is over rated or over valued obviousely hasn't seen him perform in a jazz setting or behind a 5 peice drum kit. Search for "neil peart buddy rich tribute" and you'll definitely change your mind about him. There is a reason why Neil is voted #1 drummer by modern drummer magazine readers year after year...Because HE is #1 and You are the loosers. Ha ha
I suggest you go to NP's website and read the long letter he wrote on how he MEMORIZED a different chart of Cottontail than the BR band played which caused him problems. If NP could read a big band drum chart he would not have had that problem. Second thing is that he does not swing within a big band context. He's a rock drummer. Nothing wrong with that, but he can't swing in the jazz idiom. It's not his bag.
If there is 'nothing wrong with that'. (as you said), then what is the point of the critcism. The Cottontail performance was part of a tribute to his influence, Buddy Rich. Drummers from different styles were intentionally chosen. Their performances were not to say they were jazz experts. Just paying homage. Why WOULD he swing within a big band context, he is a rock drumemr and doesn't play with big bands. That is like saying Tom Cruise is a bad comedian.

My dog can grove better with drums!!!! Boring, the drummer most over valued in his time and with less taste for music ever!!! God save the world from such loosers....
After loosing his Daughter in a crash and his wife to cancer in the same year,he managed to write 3 books and heal himself and return to sold out stadiums all over the world.
This man is NOT a Looser and is still kicking ass.
Alan, maybe the person you responded to can't discuss how good he is but I certainly can. I can also discuss how good he is not.Would you care to have that discussion?
alan, 1 month ago you put out the challenge to someone by posting; "but u cant discuss how GOOD he is". Now you are correct by saying it is a pointless challenge. Every drummer drummer is different. Many great drummers never become wealthy via success. Many not so great drummers do become wealthy with success. Fact is, ALL drummers are successful just by being able to sit down and play at any level.
Amazing drumming right their! I love how hes hitting the high hat with his left hand and keeping the groove with his right toward the last part of the song.
Oh, so you liked 'Virtuality' better than this? 'humming' "put your message in a modem, and throw it inside the cyber-sea"...Please, Netboy, at least appreciate the melody and drumming on this track, even if the lyrics have fleas... but you liked it enough to comment on it...

A few people only notice, he plays jazz style. I don't see any speed metal here. The reason why he is Neil Peart.
