I'm glad that woman's dog was found alive and okay. I can't imagine losing something that I love so dearly. But is sure shows how much we take for granted, doesn't it?
i graduated the same day it hit. i know what time it hit. i got caught in it on 20th st. i almost died. plus almost lost my whole family. i still pray for joplin everyday
I'm crying too. Fairoaks2 are you from Joplin? I'm from Springfield, but I went there a few days later. I took some pictures of the damage. I'm so sorry anyone had to suffer from this storm.
All I can do is hold you all in the light. I would like to note this. Midwest sensibility and courage were everywhere in large doses. Good people are very capable of good things. In the Midwest we pull together. The Governor showed up, no hesitation, with people and resources. Got it all going. The locals did not think twice to help each other either. Makes me proud of my fellow Americans.
No I was replying to some moron who said "God hates Kansas, home of satan's civil servants. Repent. The end is near!" I was simply pointing out the multitude of moronic things said in one tiny little sentence.
No, it wasn't worse in Joplin, the Tuscaloosa and Birmingham tornado on April 27 and Joplin were about the same in intensity, the fact that they both struck densely populated areas. The difference was the this was one single tornado and in the southern states it was about 200 different tornadoes of nearly this same magnitude.
@TableRockProductions No, it was not. You can't go by the death toll alone. The Joplin storm wasn't part of a swarm, a huge outbreak that the Tuscaloosa-Birmingham tornado was part of. There were more than 200 miles in Alabama of Joplin-type damage from the series of large, violent tornadoes on April 27. Joplin was a single tornado. You ought to look at a map of all the EF4-EF5 tornadoes that tracked across Alabama April 27.
@TableRockProductions The only reason you could consider it worse is because it hit their hospital. If Tuscaloosa's hospital had been hit, the death toll would have been 200 or more in the city alone and also, the 1,000 to 3,000 people that were injured would not have had any where to go to seek medical attention.
ITS CALLED LET MY PEOPLE GO.. America havent seen anything yet, thats just a taste of whats to come. Praise YAHWEH!!!! No one can stop yahweh nature..
Living in "Tornado Alley" unfortunately, the ones who choose to live there will go through this over & over & over & over & over And it will NEVER stop, yet people continue to rebuild again & again & again.....
Well, you have to admit you can't really be safe anywhere because there are also droughts, hurricanes, snowstorms, typhoons, earthquakes, floods, and countless other natural disasters. So really it's just like living anywhere else with a different climate and actually Joplin really isn’t in "prime" tornado area. How about trying to post a more encouraging comment. GO JOPLIN
This is the first time I had a chance to see Joplin... My heart is broken,We just had a Tornado over here in Springfield, Mass, and it did damage. This one seems to be extremely worse.I hope everyone rebuilds again...
It's Christmas time. The months that have passed, the bodies' buried, the repair of this beautiful city is unbelievable. I'm from the Bentonville area. I pass on all my prayers, hopes, and dreams to you brave and wonderful people of Joplin, MO......May all of the wonderful folks of Joplin, if you can, have the Merriest of Christmas's.....GOD LOVE YOU ALL,,,,doc
The house at 1:45 was a freinds house. A stranger gave us some bottled water and a bundle of gloves so we could clear a path for the truck, a neighbor voluntered to help them get what they could out. Wish we could have done more.
I work Disaster Response in Jasper county, And this has been the worst disaster in Joplin mo since 1967. Though there were casualties, I have to disagree with hollingsheadapril. There were casualties and it's a shame, But there were not people scattered everywhere.
I feel so sad for everyone who experienced this horrible tragedy. Deepest sympathies go out to everyone who are sadly no longer here and to the families an friends for there loss and to everyone who experienced this tragedy. I and many many many others here in northeast of England in the uk really do feel sorry for your loss. We all hope you recover and rebuild and hope this never happens again
Im from gardner ks. near KCMO I have been a storm spotter for 8 years now and have seen some bad storms. This was obviously the worst. I wasnt in joplin but I went there for a weekend with a couple fellow firefighters and spotters shortly after to help with search and rescue and clean up and although i seen all the footage and coverage on tv I wasnt ready for it once i drove into town. Truly sad and took my breath away. I pray for the victims and families to recover as much as possible.
I heard that some people in Joplin heard the sirens going off that they ignored them b/c they always go off and nothing ever comes. This just shows you that you never know what is really going to happen. When I hear the sirens going off I grab my pets, and my GF and I get in the closet.
A guy that has a youtube channel predicted this tornado 2 days before it hit using HAARP weather modification signs and actually saved 2 lives from this tornado by warning them.
My husband and I were out mins after the tornado left Joplin, helping pull people out of debris. There's dead bodies everywhere& at times you didnt know if they were alive or dead. We're eating on Rangeline, not far from walmart. We rode it out, and then went to help. Now I know these videos give a sense of what damage it did, but until they're out there digging through debri, finding people, and pets..you don't really understand how bad it is. It'll take years for Joplin to rebuild completely.
@hollingsheadapril Yeah its retarded and what was up with the fungus afterward? What were the morgues, refusing family members access to their loved ones dead bodies? I would like to hear more from the people who witnessed this or were their immediately afterwards? Clouds were strange. I call Shenanigans on the governments part. What was up with all those major disasters?
@JamesRideout123 Hi James my name is Jeremy and im from joplin mo i was going home from the high school graduation with my now wife that was in the graduation we all heard the sirens but payed no mind to it due to them always sounding them off also the clouds looked some what different more like a wall 5 miles wide coming towards us so I said hell its nothing and we both left, big mistake. We left from the collage on Duquaine rd to 15th st then there was a lot of debri flying around
@jamesrideout123 So my wife told me to try and out run the dam thing on the 249 to I-44 almost did but there it was all most like it was trying to get us and it did at the flying-j truck stop exit it picked our car up tossing us around like rag dolls flipping 3 times land on top of the 44 over pass in the ditch, we will never for get the sounds or seeing it coming for every one in it path, so now we are living in Sturgeon Bay Wi, thanks F-5 not... but thank you..
@NeroShrout That is crazy. You must have been terrified and you are very lucky to be alive. Well I have lived on Planet Earth for 27 years and I don't live anywhere near where tornadoes spawn although we almost had a waterspout hear several years ago but I will say that out of what I have seen that appeared to be the strongest deadliest Tornado I have ever seen and I am in agreement with people who say the government was up to evil and refusing family members access to morgues?UnsolvedMysteries
@NeroShrout Did a peice on Joplin way back in the day where water droplets dropped onto the people and people didn't know what it was it was like a gel and some people died and many got sick as a result. This is evidence that the government has conducted tests in that area in the past and it is very likely that this was some kind of weather mod and I would even dare say that Japan may have been manufactured also. No way all of these disasters are natural.
@JamesRideout123, naw, doubt it this time. With all the tornadoes that weekend all over, don't think Joplin was picked out because of some government conspiracy. But interesting nugget you wrote.
@NeroShrout,small world, when I lived in Neosho and went to Missouri Southern, Dusquesne Road is the side street I took to get to school because I had all my classes in the new (was back in the 70's) Psychology Building.Went there 5 years ago, and couldn't believe how it changed.
