This song always puts me in a happy mood. Actually I laugh singing along with Flo "a more butter...more butter" It's a trip! Flo is truly delicious on this funny tune written by Berry Gordy. May she rest in peace.
As great as the Supremes were, this is one of the few songs that makes me laugh but Buttered Popcorn is FLORENCE BALLARD...The minimalist beat and rhythm is also very different for the Musical Magicians of Motown.
Every time I hear a Florence Ballard song she sounds different...which just shows the range and versatility of her voice!!! She was such an underrated talent!!! RIP Flo.
Florence Ballard was a very beautiful woman in not only the physical but the spiritual as well. Blessed and favored by the Ancestors with a angelic voice, a talent like her will never walk planet earth again. Flo you are not deceased, you just made yourself "invisable" to us, and your music lives on in our hearts.
@MahoganySoulBrotherB Omg did you get that line fro ERYKAH BADU's "The Healer" lol. I had just finished listening to the song when I read your comment about Flo making herself "invisable" lol
@MahoganySoulBrotherB Ooo it was great thanks =D Enjoying the new year? lol I LOVE me some Badu!! I'm listening to SOLDIER as I type right now LOL. Amerykan Promise reminds me of the 70s lineup of The Supremes with Scherrie, Susaye and Mary loool.
wow...the lyrics make you think bout greasy popcorn that probably looked nasty but tasted delicious. Flo has amazing little sounds she puts in the songs
Thanks for these postings. Gosh, I haven't heard these since they came out. Yes, I am dating myself. By any chance do you have anything from The Supremes Sing Country Western and Pop? Thanks again!
She sang a few leads but she was never labeled as the lead singer. Sure....They could have kept her as lead and they would have simply sounded like every other average group out there at the time. I like this song but the great supremes sound came when Diana was solidified as the lead. What's done is done.
She was the founder of the group!!!!! She had the best voice by far!!!!!! And, de facto, was the lead who shared lead with her friend Mary and Ross. Because Ross started fucking Gordy...her made her lead!!!!!
the pictures at 1:56 and 2:00 are gorgeous..i mean they all are but those are my favorite. i like her natural hair color..it goes so well with her skin tone.

I like the song because:
A) Florence seems to really fit it.
and B) It has a scandalous double meaning.

Motown pulled this song back from being a single because they thought people might get the wrong idea from the lyrics.

She was the ORIGINAL lead singer. They should have kept her lead, she clearly had the stronger voice

florence..just by the way she looked, you wouldnt think this huge voice could or would come out of her.

And Mary's voice is BASE!! I wouldn't have guessed that until I bought this Supremes DvD and one of the songs was acupalla.

florence can sing her asssssss off..she was so young, but if you didnt know her and you heard her sing, you'd think she was much older.
