I can't even imagine how exhausting she must have been after filming this scene. In a moment she was loving and happy, then angry and confused, then completely desperate. And all in 4 minutes! Marion deserved the Oscar and all the praise she got.
The first time I saw this it so took me by surprise. I was like, what could be wrong with Marcel? He's in the other room! I totally didn't get it. So sad =( Didn't realize this is the song I used to think was Josh Groban's... wow
This was one of the most incredible performances I've ever seen in a movie. She's amazing. She even stood and walked differently to fit the part. Total respect
Oh my God, the acting, the layout of the scene. We recently watched this in French class and were in complete confusion as to why no one was reacting to Edith's scurrying about the house, and then one kid said, "Because he's not really there!" and my heart sank. This was so heartbreaking, but so beautifully done, I didn't see it coming at all.
it is also a perfectly directed scene, only one cut - from the appartment to the stage, from the pain of the heart to the song... just amazing, everybody, who worked on this film. And Marion Cotilliard played one of the most significant woman roles in the history of cinematography
its about love and being love in return....

This scene gives me chills... The music, the lightning, Marion's expressions, her posture, the desperate way she enters the stage, everything...

Plus, this scene pretty much sums up Piaf's life. Her life was full of tragedies, and all these tragedies ended up becoming part of her music.
