  • Christopher is the man but somebody request to harmonix to put this and his song sailing on rock band 3 and with the pro guitar up grade.

  • Love the backup singers! Rad!

  • Great to hear this, almost fogotten all about it.

  • Nice tight guitar solo - as well as a great song too ;)

  • This Live is "Summer Night Dreams" with Glenn Frey, at Yomiuri Land East (Tokyo), Aug. 2, 1986.

  • La version de saxon es mejor, pero admito que habeces las canciones originales son un asco, esta la excluyo.

  • Damn, he really does rip her up! I had a friend many years ago tell me after being drug by his girlfriend to see Cross in concert that he had a few songs were he laid down some really tasty licks. Guess he wasn't kidding!

    Thanks for sharing, great clip!

  • これってよみうりらんどEASTで行われたコンサートでしょうか?

    確かイーグルスのグレンフライと一緒に来日して、両人が好きな私にはたまりませんでした!

  • AWESOME!

  • Look at the crowd really enjoying themselves and letting everything go !! LMAO not! All sat in neat little row's ! Now thats what I call FREEDOM! ha ! Chris must be thinking wtf?!! GUN? Di he see gun?? Alest im now! lmao

  • Love this song... performing live 1986 in Tokyo, I think...

  • he is a classically trained guitarist, look @ some of the cords he uses in some of his songs, BIG difference between a three cord guitarist ( most bands today!) & someone who knows all of them! if you asked some what a Dm7 is? you would get, a Dm what! not a huge fan of jazz or classical, but respect it. if you can play jazz or classical you can pretty much play anything! that kinda music lots of different change up's

  • Great solo in this version !!!

Christopher Cross could be a lead guitarist in heavy metal band.

  • the girls are so great :)

  • What a great performance!.. Love the solo he does at the end, great

  • Thanks for posting this video.

  • holy S$%T !! who knew Cross could rip leads like that?? awesome :)

  • Crossen met ChrisTOPHER CROSS is GREAT !

  • Tear that Guitar up!... Wow.. Hidden Gem here! thanks for posting!

  • an other song makes e cry

  • Anyone that works at Kroger should be familiar with this song. Ha I hear it probably 3 times a day and never get tired of it.

  • Bongo man!

  • Hmmm. I was working as a waitress in a small bar (to earn money to continue going to college) when this song was current.

I have very fond memories of it. It really is a better song than it gets credit for being.

  • gotta love my man on bogos

  • I wonder if he had tore up the guitar like that on his recordings, if people would have given him the crap that they did. For so long he was maligned as an artist but now, thanks to youtube, we can all see how truly talented he is.

  • He and Huey Lweis were victims of Sam Kinison who joked how could be cool to like them because they appeared as old as his parents...Beavis and Butt Head continued to tell the MTV watchers who was cool or not and then IS this whole IMAGE crap that came with music video. After Seely Dan beat Eminem, these artists are not allowed on Radio!!!

  • @buzzintexas i do think he played some solos on those records, and dude can definitely play. he had some great players do solos on other tunes, like Jay Graydon, and Eric Johnson.

  • wow i never christopher jammed on guitar like that....

  • How could you not stand up and clap to ChrisCross?

  • One of my fav artist way back during skool days... ride like the wind..

  • One of the greatest artist of all time..

  • Dicky Roberts reminded about this tune.

  • Sadly Christopher cross did not get his credit in music...because music is based on comercial bull shit....he is one of the best musicians of our time......but because he does not look like Rick Springfield(who is also great) Mr cross for that reason did not get the Vid. time or air play that he deserved....we missed out on some great music from this man!

  • What about his mouth? Those people spit and slobber all the time--singing the same song 1,000 times in six months, you'd be doing the same thing!!

  • solid catchy tune....thumbs up!

  • look at his mouth at 2:39 :)

  • Good Old Times

  • Something Beatifull

  • The more I watch, the more it doesn't look like Japan, but some other Asian country.

  • Holy shit! Where is this show? EVERYONE in the audience has black hair. I'm gonna guess Japan. Damn that's funny.

  • Whenever I hear this song--from the 1st time to now--I cannothelp but imagine how The Late-Great Carl Wilson &The Beach Boys could have done this. Just imagining Carl wailing as only he could, gives me chills &breaks my heart. It wasmade for his voice &The BB's. IMHO Wolfsky9

  • he has on earl campbells dress shirt

  • I was also 24.. it´s a favourite..

  • Chris came to Manila and he gave 2 encores! He was fantastic. I was 24 then. This is my fave song.

  • CNO CNO CNO CNO CNO GO GO GO

  • cross is amazing and I mostly listen to rap music

  • it sounded better on jimmy fallon's show when he had michael mcdonald sit in just like the original recording. thanx jimmy, for bringing them back together again!

  • This is one of the best classic lead riffs in history.

  • every outlaw's song!

  • I feel like sniffin´

  • lol, u r crazy

  • One of the most energetic song I've ever heard. Coming from my childhood it has accompany me for years.

  • I will never forget this song! I was 17 and driving in somebody's car who gave us a lift in the Negev-desert in Israël. I asked the driver if he would be so kind to turn the music a little bit louder and he was so kind. That warm wind in my hair, the loud music, a great feeling it was! IA great memory!!!

Greetings from the Netherlands ( with the cold wind rushing through my hair ;-) )

  • @tineke1963 My mom worked for the Army Corps of Engineers and Lived and worked in the Negev desert in Isreal! She told me all about her "Hooch" she lived in...Thanks!

  • @tineke1963

Things nobody can take away from you-your memories. Your comment made me shivers.I got the feeling.

  • Nothing to say but this is a great song when people could really sing

  • audience is very shy

  • great guitar ! man who thought he could play like that ! then again he is a good friend of eric johnson, great song , kudos for postin it.

  • My gosh, I had no idea he was such a great guitarist. wow, i mean, his improvization here is tighter and better than a heck of lot of other guitarists.

  • Who cares how he looks, when he can play like this?

and yeah, this is on his very first album.

  • where was this held??

  • I'll go out on a limb and say an asian country lol.

  • lol. that's not a very long limb.

  • what a great song! brings me some memories

  • wow

  • is this live version on any album?

  • Yeah, I think you can find it on two albums. I have one live album called live at Carlyles or something like that. Its basically a greatest hits album. Also, I think there is another album called Greatest Hits live.

  • hope someone answers you as I am looking for the same!

    Cheers

    Nick

  • classic absolute!

    nick

  • Classic.

  • Where's Michael McDonald?! Having a taco & a siesta?

  • hahhahahha

  • and trimming his fine looking grey man-beard

  • hell yeah!!

  • he was already bald by '86!

  • LOL everyone in the crowd has black hair!

  • Yeah no shit...I guess the concert was held either in Mexico or North Korea

  • What more needs to be said other than that this song is GENIUS material

  • love christopher cross 1980's time

  • I remember when this song first came out. It was well received for many reasons but the one that stands out is its sheer originality.

There was something about the sound and even the topic that caught the public and made a real name for CC.

Though he was never part of any '80s trends, his debut did usher in a new energy in the commercial pop scene that is appreciated to this day.

    Thank you for the upload.

  • WOW

  • C.C.-better guitarist than singer-thanks for posting

  • On contrary, his vocals are on point. There something about him not having soaring vocals that makes this song more accessible. To me it somehow adds to the story telling....

  • I don't know...CC's vocals are unique, and easy on the ear, but when playing live he just doesn't project his voice at all. It would be so easy to do, wouldn't need any change in technique, lessons ect. Just sing a little louder! classic song though

  • yeah studio guy for sure, great song on the album but lame n tame here. saw him in London 81 and was way better than this limp squib. audience looked happy though, lol Hong Kong?

  • Studio guy for sure?? I saw him live about a week ago and I think he was the best live singer I've ever heard. I've seen Elton John, Paul Mccartney, Billy Joel etc. live and I'm not sure any of them could sing like CC

  • I agree that he's not so bad outside of the studio. He sings a tenor/falsetto vocal which is not so easy to do regardless. Also, I've always felt that his vocals were meant to seem a bit subdued to some degree. Many people don't realize that he was raised in San Antonio, TX, and there's a very slight twang in his accent, which lends something endearing to his vocals.

  • Jaw-dropping performance, what a band! It makes 'Steely Dan' sound like 'Steeleye Span' !

  • @kidfromzon don't be ridiculous

  • so, this song was originally written/played by christopher cross?

  • Yes, to both questions.

  • I agree with you 100% DestroyerofSouls666 I feel the same way.

  • i always hate getting artists wrong with songs :/

  • wow!! I always thought this song was by Saxon originally! Amazing stuff!

  • Excellent! I S2 this song! ;)

  • very exelent...

  • You know, I wish I could here the studio version of this song on YouTube. What do they have against fully copyrighted, fully permissible releases of these songs? God damn lawyers.

  • The modern business model: Grab every penny possible, by any means possible, inflicting as much misery and inconvenience as possible, and making yourself look like an even bigger idiot than you ever imagined possible. And as you so astutely observed, we have the blood-, life, and joy-sucking leeches called lawyers to blame (or thank, depending on how sarcastic you want to be about it,) for all this stupidity. Now...go ahead, ask me what I REALLY think! :)

  • Thank you for reading my mind, charlie. Great post. You know, it can't go on like this. Somethings gotta give.

  • me to dude

  • look at them happy Jap crowd...

    ;D

  • For all who like this song, allow me to give you 2 names : Carl Wilson, and The Beach Boys!! Can you even begin to imagine how Carl would have taken this song to heights we can now only imagine?? With Dennis [ in the 70's ] or Al doing the duet?? This was made for Carl's voice, and I knew it the 1st time I heard it. CW and The BB's would have made it an all-time classic. Carl, we miss you more as the years go by. Wolfsky9

  • You probably notice the similarities in the vocal style of Cross and Wilson. Cross said that Carl Wilson was the biggest influence on his vocal style. Both of their voices have depth, I treasure listening to either of them.

  • C-C is an excellent guitar player; however, I think he's a weak live singer. In studio, he's marvelous. But, you can tell he's having trouble reaching those signature high notes, even just a few years after the release of the record. Check out the Youtube vid of him with Michael McD. You'll see what I mean. Again, an absolute shredder on the guitar, no question about that though.

  • Are u insane???

  • actually I'd have to agree with him on that one ...there's a performance with Michael McDonald where he's incredibly out of tune on the high notes

  • WHAT DO EXPECT AFTER SEX,DRUGS AND ROCK7 ROLL

But over all they all sound weak He is still the man

  • hahaha hell yeah he shreds, i just got done commenting that on a different vid :)

i forgive his couple of vocal tired-isms, because his timbre is BEAUTIFUL, and he just "sells it." jazz fingers ya know? LOL

  • JUST CLASSIC MUSIC!!!

I REMEMBER THIS AS I WAS GROWING UP!!!

    Dave

  • LOL is it just me that finds it funny that everyones just sat down like theyre waiting a bus!!

  • He rules on Guitar!

  • C/C TOTALLY rocks on that guitar!!!

  • Superbe... Magnifique... Un talent pur!!!!

Une chanson qui amène au rêve!!!

  • LOL!

  • Nice solo at the end!! Underrated player!!

  • ...ahhhh...what this song needs is, cowbells!!! like right now

  • I think that this concert was during when he was doing a world tour to support his 3rd album, 1985's Every turn of the world. I could be wrong, you know, but I'm just guessing.

  • Great song, but not the same without Michael.

  • I don't know, Michael is DEF a talented singer but for some reason I don't like hearing him on backup. His voice overpowers most other singers, I mean who wants to have their back-up singer singing better than them? heh :)

  • I like how they compliment each other.
