  • 3:59-4:34!!!!!!!! Head banging moment right there!!!!

  • LOVE THIS SONG!!! Played it freshman year of high school in the marching band SOO LOUD!! Headbangin the whole time

  • Where can I get an mp3 of this?

  • We played this last year in symphonic band, i played the soprano sax part. I saw the judged headbanging when contest time came and i learned after the show that none of our judges had heard the song before. We got sweepstakes and had a kick ass show :) double win!

  • i don't really understand the relevance of the music and what seems to be a video game lol

  • @Codack68 The "video game" is called Audio Surf. It takes music and fashions a roller-coaster that fits with beats in the song. You collect the colored tiles and dodge the gray ones.

  • 0:47

  • Macky says it needs more Trombone.

  • @TheVerandure

You can never have too much trombone or heavy twelve-note chords!

  • We played this in our Wind Ensemble in 2010 and it was our 2010 Marching show. Such an amazing piece.

  • the Bluecoats 2010 show brought me here

  • Yea!! Love this song! It's so much fun for low brass! Did you know it's supposed to be about a crazy cab ride in New York? Lol!

  • @Tbonegirl28 Omg that's exactly what I thought about when I heard it! Ha Mackey has a knack for making his music themes fit very well.

  • My band is also playing this in our show, as our 2nd mvt!! Yea, its gonna be epic ^_^

  • can't looks awayyyy!

  • This is the opener music for our marching show. I'm sooo excited for the colour guard work (:

  • Our marching band is playing this along with Angels in the Architecture for our show IT IS EPIC!

  • it took me forever to figure out the grey blocks were the percussion parts.

  • @sparkster7744 is a band piece by John Mackey

  • What is this music from?

  • Can someone explain this game to me lol

  • @gameexpert09 When you start up a game of Audiosurf, you choose an mp3 file on your computer. The game analyzes the song and converts it into this rollercoaster-of-sorts. You have to collect the colored blocks along the way and match 3 or more to get points. Gray blocks muck up the works and make it harder to get points. If you end the "course" with no blocks left you get bonus points. It's a lot of fun with Blue Man Group songs, IMO.

  • PC! PC! Euph rapes.

  • I have an infection, and the only antibiotic is: MOAR F'S!!!!!

  • Was really fun playing this and meeting Mackey at TMEA this year. This doesn't sound nearly gnarly enough. Oh well, we can't all be perfect. 8)

  • The PERCUSSION. Another band in my city performed this the other day!

  • saw this today in band. so amazing

  • 4 people are upset the audio had a mini screw up at 4:17.

  • I'm not usually a huge fan of Mackey's stuff but i heard this and it left me in complete awe...one of the best pieces of music I've ever heard. Simply amazing. Changes my opinion of him completely.

  • I don't wanna sounds bad or anything, but this clarinet solo is like orgasmic. I've been listening to it over and over and over!

  • BLOOOOOOOOOOOO

  • nice song :D and LOL audiosurf hehe i got that too. everyone else is all, "wdf is up with the ship!" but its a game haha

  • Oh my God. The clarinet.

  • leave that trash can alone! haha

  • im not sure i understand that game thingy, but its a pretty good visualizer thing

  • Texas 5A All State band (not sure whether it will be symph or concert, probably symph) is doing this this year...

  • saw this performed live at the walt disney concert hall.

    it gave me goosebumps...

  • 1:07 = gorgeous

  • still though, i wish i could pull off that clarinet solo! its freakin beast mode!

  • Best part of the show, durm break and blasting ur face off! PC Baritone 2010

  • even though the solo is written for a clarinet (i think) im going to play it on my soprano!!!!!

  • My highschool marching band show has this and it sounds awesome!!!!!

  • I went to see the President's own Marine Band this past weekend, and this was the second piece they played. It was absolutely amazing. I love the song and the performance they put on was awesome.

  • those three people must have been on marijuana to not like this song.

  • ugh. this song is so hard to play. i cant follow the time signature at allllll

  • we're playing an easier arrangement of this in marching band its pretty awesome

  • this is a really badass song.

omg you should play audiosurf to Tempered Steel !!!!

its an equally badass song =)

  • this has to be my favorite piece. by far.

oh, how i love john mackey:]

  • Yeah I can't wait til Mansfield high kicks ass with this song! I'm one of the drum majors for the band and so far we sound awesome!!

  • One of the highschools in my region is marching to this. They're screwed

  • Pacific Crest, Bluecoats, and Mansfield High School in Mansfield, Texas

  • Nice to know that I'm not the only one who plays Audiosurf to my classical/instrumental music lol.

  • I played this piece my junior of college. I love the sroty behind the piece. It's So cool... I really love anything John Mackey

  • awesome song, silly rocket

  • @samsterx777 lol the silly rocket gives me something to look at. O.O pretty colors!!!

  • Can't wait til summer! We're gonna rock it in Bluecoats!

  • I heard this piece up at NAU during All-State this year. I swear the trombones were tea-bagging me as they played this song. SO LOUD!!! But amazing! The conductor also broke his baton which only added to the sheer ballsiness of the piece!

  • @ThyFreak123 Im glad I found this. Im glad you liked it, I was the bass drummer for that performance haha. That was a fun performance

  • @ThyFreak123 I'm glad I found this, and I'g glad you liked the performance, cause I was the bass drummer haha.

  • Fantastic title.

  • Whose performance is this?

  • Love this song!!! Video is cool

  • I went to the Florida 11-12 allstate concert and they played this piece. I've been in love with mackey's music ever since.

    .. Such raw power

  • Pacific Crest and Bluecoats are using this.

  • @Rogers1977 haha bluecoats do it better than PC, but hot damn, it's one of my favorite music selections used in drum corps to date.

  • @LAKings0101 A lot of people have told me that PC does it better.

  • @Rogers1977 i really liked the way PC did it, but the bluecoats had so much power behind it, and their visual program made it that much better. I really like PC, like a lot, but I think coats did it better. But I never saw PC play it live, so it's hard to tell if it was better.

  • @LAKings0101 In an attempt to not be biased, I marched in PC this past summer (as if that statement really helped LOLZ) and I saw Bluecoats. To me, it felt like Bluecoats was caught up in all the notes going by (they played it more like the original) whereas ours had fewer notes but more gut-busting blocks of sound.

  • @Rogers1977 haha yeah i know you marched PC. end tenor right? And I think because the Bluecoats played it more like the original, they were able to shape it a bit more dynamically and make it a really really good rendition of it. PC would have definitely melted my face, but I really like Coats. Overall, it is one of my favorite musical selections used in drum corps to date.

  • anyone have an idea what part of the show this will be in for the Bluecoats...sounds like a cool opening. im thinking "Metropolis" ...maybe like traffic in a busy city..?

  • i'm not sure. the whole busy city idea sounds very cool, but it also sounds a bit more like a high school marching band concept to me. just my two cents

  • I'd pay tons of cash to see a band march to this song, because i dont believe it can be done. This song is on a grade 6 difficulty lol

  • @Wh1teB0ii369 well my marching band is doing this next year and its gonna be super hard...lol

  • hehe well good luck :P hope your band does great :)

  • @lexmelese thats what she said

  • wow....thats actually funny!! i didnt see that..haha your epic!

  • @Wh1teB0ii369 The Bluecoats are going to play this piece this year.

  • @CrusaderAttack yeah i learned that as of now, i cant wait to see it

  • Maybe not a marching band, but a drum corps.

    Bluecoats 2010.

My director saw this actual performance last year, and said the guy playing the solo was phenomenal. I have the solo for this song, and i just hope i can play it as well as this! this song is piss your pants fun

  • The MSU Wind Symphony (the band this piece was made for) performed this at our high school as a pre-premiere performance.... now, with help from MSU, our band is playing this piece at the Mid-West Conference!

  • Awesome!

  • our high school marching band is doing this song too, as our opener! wow I didn't realize it was such a popular song...

  • Good luck :)

Which band are you? And what state?

  • We are at Gresham High School in Oregon! Thanks for the luck :/

  • Hey, no problem. :)

I wouldn't worry about it too much. It will definitely take time to master, but it will blow everyone away when you pull it together. I wish our band played it before I graduated, but oh well.

  • ours is too. it's one of our movements.

  • Cool! Good Luck on that!

  • this song is SICK!!
