Why unrealistic? China is way the hell bigger than Russia, and even surpasses the US in many ways. For instance, China now uses more oil than the USA does. The US owes more money to China than to any nation on the planet, and the premise of the movie is about a Chinese invasion of the US after it refuses to pay them back.
