My admiration for Dave Brubeck as a composer and a musician is without limits, ever since I heard Take Five when it came out back in the sixties, over when he came to play in our country well in his eighties, up to today. Yet I am a bit disappointed that he did not give full credit to Paul Desmond for his (= Paul's!) wonderful composition "Take Five". The master should have shown "grandeur" and admitted that the composer of this piece was his sax playing peer and genius in his own right!
All interviews of great artists should be like this. Simple, straight on head shot; no faux studio backdrop or studio lighting; no moving "vertigo" camera (done too much today) and most importantly, no interruptions (a la Charlie Rose). Thank you Dave Brubeck!
@LetzBeaFranque He did, but Dave put it together. Desmond wrote a few melodies and brought them to Dave. Dave liked two of them and told him to make one of them the bridge. Hence, the birth of "Take Five".
What a legend!

I think he has given credit to Desmond for the song in another interview.

@MrHopeTelevision What do you mean by that? Maybe I misunderstand your intent, but that sounded like kind of a jerky thing to write.
