funny how it wasn't vey straight though - I thought they had to bisect the exact edge of the atmosphere or they would just skim it and return back down - obviously it doesn't mena they have to go in a straight line though haha

@Dixavd Straight up, would impart no surface relative velocity to reach orbit speed. By tilting over,at an angle to the earth, speed is built up to remain in orbit.
