I have owned one of the 10-inch drums (deluxe model) since 2006 and I love it. It is amazingly expressive and carefully engineered. A lot of thought went into it and it combines the enchanting sound of the traditional Nigerian drum with modern technology. It is inevitable someone would blend these two and I am pleased Brad has done such a good job on it. I do urge Brad to come up with some better recordings, and recordings in music, to better display the character of this visionary instrument.
I don't know what's with all the snotty comments. People seem to be under the impression that you are claiming to play African music in this video. Clearly, you have NOT made any such claim. (Duh, people.) That just goes to show how closed minded Americans are, even the ones who are searching for something new.
I love this! This is an awesome video and that drum really sounds intense.
interesting concept however the "Talking" aspect of this instrument is not there. many do not realize that the "Talking Drum" is a yoruba(nigerian) instrument. So when the drummers beat the talking drum, they are literally Talking in their language(coupled with the rythmitism) I have been practicing Talking drum for a while now and trying my best to learn the nigerian language. haha i will probably most like be the only white guy in America that can actually PLAY the talking drum.
My broda, with the innovation ,I hear the armpit inflections but It still lacks that soul element..I would like to hear some polymorhic sounds like for example ..one of king Sunny ade's solo from Synchro System album.. Good Effort though..God Effort ,keep working on improving the sound..You are onto something here bro.
