426 people have never changed the lens on their camera because they're worried about dust, and probably should have just stuck with a point and shoot.
Good god people, what kind of cheap, crappy gear do you buy if dust is ruining it? Seriously? You think having the lens off for more than a second is going to kill the camera? Are you dumb? I clean my glass and my mirror off with my shirt. I change lenses outside all the time. My camera goes through all kinds of shit, but you can clean it up and it still performs like new, because that's what pro equipment is meant to do. If it can't sustain basic durability it's not something worth buying.
One question I am new to SLRs, I have an old Yashaica 230-AF, and the lens mount looks the same as yours, does that mean all lenses will work on my yashica, and vise versa, so my kycoera 35-70mm will work on a modern slr?
@shebashan0054 : the main difference between JPEG or raw is the buffer. With this camera, the continuous shot will just keep going until done with JPEG. With Raw, the camera will pause to one image per second while the system is writing the buffer to memory. Either way, it's still pretty fast! I've had a Canon 5D and am debating between the 7D or 5D MII. When it comes to durability, it's all relative: my 5D got a small water drop in it and wound up being an expensive repair!
@DireGamer hmm suppose so, there would be a new camera out before the retirement of my 7D anyway hey. But I dare not spam my shutter for this purpose. And yes, there can be some wasted shots but for a camera that is use for work, its better not to mess around with it. As I have been a film user since recently purchasing my 7D, I know the importance of getting the shot right thus less to sift through. I still love film but workflow does not allow this anymore. Time and cost killed film :(
I like watching these. Mainly because people are reducing their shutter life to inform on how fast the burst actually is and also the viewing pleasure of others. Now I dont have to do this to my 7D to know how fast it is :D I save my shutter actuations for subjects and scenery :)

The Sony a55 shoots at 10fps and its only an evtry level DSLR its pretty superior to most of the other entry levels but bad thing is the battery life, which shoots only about 350 photo :(
@DFMerlino it's a good way to increase your chances of getting "the shot", if you take 8 pics of a moving object at least one of them is going to be a keeper.
I'll happily fuck about with off lens photography without shitting myself yes. Can create some cool effects with it. But seemingly the squares here wouldn't bother trying... :/
Fucking hell. Some of you lot seriously need to take your anoraks off. Thats nothing a quick blast with a rocket blower wont get off. How about you actually go and use your cameras instead of trying to keep them pristine.
Mine get covered in mud/dust/drinks/rain/worse all the time and still take fantastic photos. They're much more rugged than most people think...
@HoeBlogggs doesnt mean people shouldnt be careful? some people take care of their items and posessions? Just because their rugged, doesnt mean their unbreakable, and it's still a piss off if you get a scratch on your lens/screen/camera, or you get dirt/dust in it, and have to pay an unnesecary 75$ to clean it. I personally care about my camera, and try my best to keep it safe, doesnt mean i dont use it? I use it everyday of my life, and i get great shots, while keeping it safe at the same time.
@HoeBlogggs Your comment reminded me of the abuse (to be blunt about it) that DigitalRev were to two of their cameras when testing out which one were the most rugged one. They did it all with a Canon 450D and the Nikon D70.
In the end they both survived some things that really never would happen to an actual camera, still taking good pictures.

nice camera, but i didnt buy it because it does 8fps and i dont need 8fps. Why pay for a feature you are not going to use. To use 8fps i'm going to need a very expensive fast 400mm lens, and/or a front seat ticket (expensive) to a sporting event or a press pass (not easy to come by) If you happen to be a pro, then why have you bought a 7D?
The big difference between the 7D compared to say, 5D 1D is the fact it is an APS c sized sensor, soo, the general consensus is that cramming that many pixels onto that size sensor results in noise in low light conditions and at long exposures but the jury's still out. The whole wide angle theory is crap seing many companies ie. sigma are now making APSc specific lenses such as their 8-16 (roughly 10.6mm equiv) yes you'll always get better results with say a 1D, but have you seen the price ;)
@TechTutrial, you obviously don't have much of a clue. I think you'll find that just because both camers are 18mp doesn't mean they have same image quality. You might want to compare the storage formats available for each camera ;) oh, and the fact the 7D is dual processor and the 550D single, or mebe the 19 point AF system instead of 9. Infact about the only thing you get right is the comment about the photographer making the pictures.
I dont need a 7D, I have a 30D still working fine :), and 8 fps is not really that important for my shooting style. I would however like a 5D mk II, my father has one and that full frame sensor is godlike in picture quality and all around Wide angle lenses :) :) :) <3 17-40 f/4 L and 70-200 f/2.8 L XD
@unidigistudios hahaha, 5D, full-frame in general, would be sooo amazing! I have a 40D, but man, I would love a 5D for the wide and stuff, I could just get a 16mm or 24mm and be set for life!!! Maybe an 85mm as well...
@JJtheJaxartosaurus I would be happy with a 14mm or the 24-105mm f/4L, or the 17-40mm f/4L ^^ My dad just uses his 24-105mm f/4L, luckily when he uses the 17-40mm I just slap the 24-105 on my 30D :), that lens makes very, very nice pictures :D

@TechTuturial lol! You're cool! Out of the 10 best crop framed dslr's in the world I'm willing to bet the 7D might fit it self in, somewhere.. Lol! I just reacted to the way the shutter was kinda treated roughly guess .I also agree that it's not the gear, I live by that rule;-),but having good tools is essential.
8 pics per second is certainly impressive. And thank you for showing us how it looks like without a lens on. No one else will have to risk the dust since you´ve already tested it, and been so kind to upload the clip for us all to enjoy. A big "like" from me, thanks again.
Some misconceptions in comments here. Yes its not a very good idea to do what he is doing but the sensor can easily be cleaned if you know what you are doing. You wont "mess up" the sensor by getting dust on it. You may not see any dust on the sensor right YET, because the dust reduction system is getting most of the small particles removed. You only have the worry about the larger particles that cant seem to be removed by the dust reduction system.
FUCK I want to stay with nikon but there video is such fucking garbage. Look at this camera, it looks like a shitty d40 i can't convince myself to buy it.
@pabloVEVO yo if u mean that i dont know anything....i just dont see the point of putting the slash in there if your already have the p in there....if u see my slide im pretty amateur status
if your that stupid as to do a demonstration like that without a lens on or at least the body cap, then you don't deserve that camera. you may not be getting "millions" of dust particles in there, but you are getting some I guarantee you and your going to kill your sensor doing that
I'm borrowing this camera and don't have the instructions, could you tell me how to (where to) activate the quick shutter speed? I want to take a picture of someone falling into water.
How bad for the camera is it? I'm only borrowing it and I don't want to return it broken.
wooow, why would you just leave the sensor exposed like that? shows what happens when a rich kid doesnt know how to use his stuff. oh and by the way dont say 'peace out'

You might want to compare the storage formats available for each camera ;) oh, and the fact the 7D is dual processor and the 550D single, or mebe the 19 point AF system instead of 9. Infact about the only thing you get right is the comment about the photographer making the pictures.

You strike me as the kind of moron who buys stuff to say he has it. You don't have a clue what you're doing, do you?
spacefaget 1 year ago 2
I dont need a 7D, I have a 30D still working fine :), and 8 fps is not really that important for my shooting style. I would however like a 5D mk II, my father has one and that full frame sensor is godlike in picture quality and all around Wide angle lenses :) :) :) <3 17-40 f/4 L and 70-200 f/2.8 L XD
unidigistudios 1 year ago
@unidigistudios hahaha, 5D, full-frame in general, would be sooo amazing! I have a 40D, but man, I would love a 5D for the wide and stuff, I could just get a 16mm or 24mm and be set for life!!! Maybe an 85mm as well...
JJtheJaxartosaurus 1 year ago

Hey Alex, you have one of the best cameras in the world in your hands , screw the harsh comments , but treat your stuff a little better:-))
STEPPHAN7 1 year ago
@STEPPHAN7 what? 7d is NEVER one of the best cameras in the wold.. the best are the Nikon D3s and the Eos 1Ds.. or the 5D!
I wouldn´t buy a 7d, becouse in picture quality it´s not better than the 550d, which is only half price..
But: It´s not the Gear that makes the pictures ;-)

Why do people care so much about HIS sensor!!!! if somebody took your camera and did that i could see how u wud be mad.
TheAppleReviewGuy 1 year ago
8 pics per second is certainly impressive. And thank you for showing us how it looks like without a lens on. No one else will have to risk the dust since you´ve already tested it, and been so kind to upload the clip for us all to enjoy. A big "like" from me, thanks again.

Some misconceptions in comments here. Yes its not a very good idea to do what he is doing but the sensor can easily be cleaned if you know what you are doing. You wont "mess up" the sensor by getting dust on it. You may not see any dust on the sensor right YET, because the dust reduction system is getting most of the small particles removed. You only have the worry about the larger particles that cant seem to be removed by the dust reduction system.
prodigy2k7 1 year ago
Its not like you cant just clean your sensor if it gets dust on it. Not a big deal.

if your that stupid as to do a demonstration like that without a lens on or at least the body cap, then you don't deserve that camera. you may not be getting "millions" of dust particles in there, but you are getting some I guarantee you and your going to kill your sensor doing that

I'm borrowing this camera and don't have the instructions, could you tell me how to (where to) activate the quick shutter speed? I want to take a picture of someone falling into water.
How bad for the camera is it? I'm only borrowing it and I don't want to return it broken.
Jaaric 1 year ago
Hey could you help me out? i was playing around with my 7D and i noticed it wasnt going full speed like it did before.
skateemerica134 1 year ago
@skateemerica134 make sure your shutter speed is over 1/125th of a second and it is on high speed burst not just burst
