  • This is so amazing..

  • Please someone tell me what that part from 1:42 to 2:11 is. I've learned all of benighted as it is on the cd now but I wanna be able to add this in for a bit of variety. It's a sweet riff. Anyone?

  • Whoa ! Great job guy :) !

  • very nice playing

  • PATTERNS IN THE IVY II :O 2:17 !!

Oh yes; people, fellow youtubers.. you see here a man playing and perfecting the guitar. Who decided to share his current capabilties in playing these songs + an own interpretation.

We don't need to nitpick on phrases that didn't went perfect enough.. He knows that for he clearly is a musician.

We'd be better if we'd encourage him! Because 390 likes and 11 dislikes is a pretty neat score ;)

So on behalf of myself and everyone who agrees.WELL DONE, PLAY MORE

  • I wouldn't call this a cover. More an interpretation. And an intersting one at that. I really wanna learn the part between 1:42 and 2:11. It's so much more beefy than what's actually on the track. Are you just playing the bass notes as they are or adding in extra. I can seem to place it.

  • O_ò si ma c'è anche Patterns in the ivy II ... perchè? lol

  • Need some work in the 2nd verse (one after the first verse which u play 4 times). You just got 2 notes wrong and the temp is a bit off. Other than that not a bad cover :)

  • Great cover man. And a question; I have only been playing guitar for about 9 months and would like to learn this song. Do I have to finger pick or can I use a plectrum (I dont know how to use my fingers)

  • @LyricsArFun You need to finger pick. It's actually a really good song to learn how to finger pick. I couldn't finger pick and a few months ago I decided to start learning how and I've been learning this song and face of melinda. It's well worth learning how to finger pick. Songs just sound nicer and you can beef them up with bass notes.

  • @LukeQuietus Thanks for the reply.

  • oh dude re examine the music your ok bro but you got heaps of stuff wrong.

  • @thedirtydeltas Can you play it better? MOST critics can't do the things they are criticizing. Post your version of that song. I bet you could play it better if you try.

  • its rushed on the hammer on dude!

  • I find my self coming back to this one with an acoustic nylon.. Very smooth playing.. A little offset here and there, but I couldn't do it any better..

    Great cover man..

  • Amazing ♥♬

  • Flawless! marry me!(im a girl lol)

  • @MochizMuM he shall marry me too! :D

  • what was that part played at 1:50?? good job sounds amazing mate

  • Great job man!

  • Okay, that was awesome. What was that bit at 1:50? I've listened to Benighten a lot of times and that doesnt sound farmiliar at all, yet it sounds exactly like something opeth would do...

  • PERFECT JOB MAN!!!

  • PERFECTO!

  • Nicely played. The intro felt a bit rushed and halted, but I relaxed once the rest flowed.

  • pretty good cover, but your timing was in the intro (right at the end of the bit which repeats 4 times). also this piece relies a lot on the player really expressing the notesm not just playing them all the same volume with no rythmic or dynamic variation. you're a good player so don't take this the wrong way, just trying to give some constructive criticism :D

  • This song is very hard to learn, i learnt it 3weeks ago and i can play it quite well now but i suffered :D . How long did it took you to learn it perfectly and how did you learn it (ears, tabs) ? please let me know your cover is great :)

  • @maggotfrom1993 Eh, it's not really that hard to learn, but to do it as good as the guy in the video takes awhile.

  • WAY too fast

  • @iamahab9 I'm a bassist too and I wanted so bad to learn the guitar part so I've learned it on bass and it feels so awesome to play it :D and it's standard EADG tuning...

  • @iamahab9 standard tuning

  • You're covering Camel 'Never Let Go', not Opeth.

  • @burnttatertot mikael admits benighted is a total ripoff, this vid covers benighted tho, not the camel song.

  • @tft8030

never let go is the name of the song

  • Very good I liked it man. \m/

  • a little shaky on the timing for most of it - heard worse though

  • Superb. Can you please send me the tab or notation for this? My email is kant20022@yahoo.com. Thanks a lot.

  • OMG! Gratz!

  • perfectly executed

  • Pretty good, timing is a little off but id say youve got most of it right, good job.

  • Beautiful......!

  • Sweetly played, good sir! :) An honest and simply beautiful version, on classical guitar, no less!

  • wonderful...!

  • 11 people don't know what music is.

  • Amazing.. Gives me goose bumps as always.

  • Well done! Sounded great. At first it felt a little rushed but after a while you seemed to find the rhythm. Sometime in the middle it seemed to stop sounding quite like the song. I dont know if you where trying to to play the parts of both guitars for the short time when there are two playing in the song but what ever. it sounded great none the less. Adding your own spin to any song is a good thing.

  • Akerfeldt is a fucking genius,... kids in the future will see him like we now see bach and mozart.

  • this is brilliant playing man, ive got the first few riffs down and its fun as hell!!

  • My god man that was brilliant. Did you learn by tabs or play it by ear?

  • The sound is great! Did you mic it or used an amplifier?

  • Is that an Alhambra 2C? Because it looks a lot like mine!

  • Comment removed

  • One of my favorite acoustics songs from Opeth. Great that you put in a little bit of Patterns pt 2 also.

  • fuck man i find this song hard as fuck to play. but hey ima keep on trying until i get it. if you wanna learn the good shit you gotta have patience i suppose

  • @itsallgood239 true that!

  • Is it tune in Drop D?

  • @jigo13 I believe it's standerd. I just got a tab for it in standerd and it sounds perfect and the fingering is the exact same as the guitarist in this video. The rythm is pretty tricky though =/. Anyway cheers for Opeth =)

  • Precioso...

Sólo un detalle, te apresuraste mucho

    You hurried...

    Calm down! ... Enjoy it.

  • Beautiful!!!

  • just amazing cover

  • You look slightly like Rodey from Protest I think.

    Awesome cover as well mate

  • just makes me wana sing along 10*** brother

  • Win!

  • wow that was amazing perfectly done ive been trying and i cant even get 30 seconds into the song

  • Very Impressive man. Great job.

  • Such a great tune, excellent job!

  • How could anyone dislike this? Brilliant job mate, bliss.

  • very good!

  • You are just awesome dude...ur picking is CLEAN!!

  • Most beautiful thing I've heard all day, and I just spent 2 hrs listening to music, so that's saying something. Opeth's style simply cannot be beat, and you portray their essence (as well as immense talent) in a way that almost brought a tear to my eye. Keep it up sir.

  • definately impressive

  • Nice job, I love this song from Opeth.

  • really really great.

  • perfect

  • This is good dude

  • WOW!

  • great fingerpicking technique.sounds amazing!

  • Great job! The beginning sounds so much like "Never Let Go" by Camel

  • Good job, fuck the haters play whatever speed you want, its about ability and having fun not playing it just as akefeldt and co. played it.

  • totally agree!

  • @HeiniSchplitzen Fuck yeah man! I respect those words so much! You are completely and totally right, Word!

  • get a f*cking metronome

  • @thehatmill your timing isnt good man, gonna agreed with this guy

  • too fast in my opinion , good job though

  • Got to agree so clean!!simply amazing

  • i have a doubt while figerpicking should i have long nail?

  • If you are playing on nylon strings, yes. If you are playing on metal it's fine with or without. You need to file them until they are smooth for the best sound from nylon strings.

  • @Maxito4321 it helps. alot

  • great cover

  • nice feakin job man

    that was seriously sick

  • masterpiece

    five stars

  • Great.

  • beautiful.

  • Awesome shit. Liked the extra stuff you threw in.

  • not prefect, but a good original add in aorund 1:50...........sounds good , i enjoyed regardless, just a tad of constructive criticism

  • Awesome right hand form.

  • @hypnolobster agreed, looks tough

  • WOW

    just WOW

    so clean......

  • the best cover of this on the internet thus far :) great playing. Any originals?

  • very nice my friend...congtats

  • pinche vampi

  • nice....n sounds really clean..\--/

  • I agree, it feels a bit rushed.

  • I love this song and you definitely did it justice. Your picking is clean as hell; the only criticism I can raise is that when you throw more notes into the rhythm it feels like it is rushed ever so slightly.

  • @GuerrillaForce Look no metronome ticks, no drumer, no background. Its really hard to keep proper tempo without that, especialy that this brilliant tune has really tricky tempo pattern.

  • Haha, snuck in a little patterns in the ivy II at the end eh?

  • a smooth transition from benighted to patterns in the ivy. Excellent

  • I play this song sometimes and its not perfect either. some parts when i was listening i was like aww he made it sound closer to the track but theres a few spots that i was like, hah, i got that down. classicals about feel though, so not exact makes it your own

  • It's good, but I think you are rushing. Pay close attention to how Opeth shift through the positions. I think you're rushing to change positions, which results in mistakes in the timing.

But as I said, I think you'll nail it. It's already good.

  • brilliant...great interpretation!

  • *standing ovation*

  • Man, you rule.

    5*

    You have a new suscription^^

  • anyone know if Opeth uses a nylon string acoustic guitar live for these parts, or do they just use electric guitar with pedals?

  • They use electric guitars but with Boss GT-8 or 10. You still hear some decent acoustic guitar tones on live.

  • wow perfect!

Is incredible how Opeth recycles chords and compose lots of songs from 2 or 4 chords and they all sound different and moving.

    cheers

  • amazing cover, god now i want an acoustic just to learn some Opeth :P

  • perfect

  • yeah!!! very good!! almost perfect

  • Awesome! although it was a bit too fast at times

  • very good

  • Wow its perfect

  • beautiful. great guitar skills man.

  • oo a bit of patterns in the ivy too! v good!!!

  • Vacker.

  • Really good! Standing ovation! :)

  • =O men you play so good how longh you have playingh acoustic guitar?

  • thats a classical guitar... lol

  • Nice one,

Tape it in a Acoustic guitar but bronce strings. would sound a lot more like the original.

  • Please, ¿where is the partiture?

  • good, but just a teensy bit out of tune, and off time

  • I love it!

  • AMAZING

  • That is really awesome man. Nice work. You're other videos are equally impressive

  • Just one word..Amazing..one of the best cover of this song =)

  • very nice man

it sounds almost exactly like the track

  • beautiful song. nice to see some appreciation for the best band ever, Opeth. nice cover.

  • exactly man.. the best band ever !!

    All Hail Opeth !!

  • Great ^^

  • nice cover man n i liked patterns of ivy aswell at the end lol 2 awsome songs, you should try face of melinda now lol

  • nice one dude :P

  • epic cover man.

  • go norge! ^^

  • dude awesome cover!

whats that type of playing called? flamenco?

  • It's just fingerpicking dude. Flamenco is Latin kinda stuff :D

  • nice cover

  • Fantastisk cover av en flott opeth låt! Blir helt inspirert her :)

  • really good cover, you are trully skillfull, keep on it

  • hello,

this is pretty nice, but you are loosing tempo, keep working on that.

I will pot my own version soon.

    cheers

  • this was a verry amazing cover im trying to learn it but cant play it nearly this great!

  • PLEASE CAN YOU PLAY THE CALM BEFORE THE FLOOD by Orphaned Land !!!

  • what song does he play at 1:45?

  • ?really don't know... :S

  • This song is difficult on my guitar... it is much easier on a classic, though it isn't played on one... I liked how you threw a bunch of different Opeth in after about 1:45 though...

  • Actually, I thought his playing was very robotic... the tone of that guitar and the rises and falls of the tempo he accentuates totally throw off the feel of the song... There was also a lot of wrong parts, but I'm assuming that's because you learned it by ear... I need to post my own version of this song.

  • I could not disagree anymore, your arrogance is not wanted here.

  • buen material de opeth buena ,,buena ejecusion

  • Bravo!

  • damn great work, love the band love the album love the song love the cover! keep it up

  • at 2:17...uh call of ktulu? lol that whole part always reminds me of that song

  • beautifully done man ... very nice

  • nydelig spilt på en mystisk og dritfet Opeth sang

  • Buenísimo.

  • man i wish i could play like you !!!

  • your not got cuz mikeal akerfeldt is god, but your damn sure his deputy, excellent job, majorly jealous now.

  • fuckin good job!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

  • really good work dude :P

  • Bra jobba! Pumpehagle, hehe.

  • The sound is wonderful! Thnx for posting

  • Thanks for the inspiration, I learned to play it exactly as you do it.

  • U are great:D
