  • @ch1ral No doubt 40 years from now you will be wondering whats up when people no longer laugh and think stupid at what you grew up with. Like it or not ts a generational thing, it will happen to you one day.

  • I had to look this up because I heard someone died watching it. I must be missing something because I found ch1ral's comment funnier than the clip. That guy must have been in a bad way and in serious need of a laugh if this is what did him in.

  • @darrin42 different times, I guess by that time the concept of funny was totally different from what is now.. This is better from a lot of stuff we call 'comedy' nowadays anyway.. I did find it funny, not to die for tho lol

  • @Sparkonetwo and you know this how? Did he come back from the dead specifically to say 'by the way, it was the way the scotsman was dressed that did it...' I get your point that humour is subjective, but don't make assumptions about things you couldnt possibly know.

  • I loved The Goodies when I was little.. and although I'm now hurtling towards the big 50, think it's it's a shame that a bit of silliness could be controversial..it still makes me laugh..

  • i bet that see the guy dying would be more funny than the "comedy" show that he was watching.

  • That guy deserved to die if he laughed for 20 minutes after watching this.

  • i lough watching this

  • thumbs up if QI brought you here!

  • British 70's classic!

  • Maybe the guy who died laughing was stoned out of his gourd.

  • This was from like the 1970's guys, of course the humour will be a little outdated. Maybe gibberish racism was funny back then.

  • its not THAT funny

  • ...someone died after laughing from this? i mean, it's funny to me, but it's not THAT funny.

i'm here because i actually like this show, not because of some guy dying because of it. jeez...

  • not my kinda comedy i must say

  • love this so much XDDDD

  • cant believe a man died laughing at this for 25mins!

  • @gpr50boy You have to have seen the whole episode, and have a partially silly sense of humor I suppose.

  • @gpr50boy yeah this is fucking stupid

  • @eternalviberecords lol yeah. i was amazed to see that

  • Ha! Graeme as Muhammad Ali

  • Capcom should use this for t next street fighter.

  • This isn't funny :/

  • I was too afraid to laugh.

  • what an embarrasingly shite comedy to die from

  • @ch1ral I almost died after laughing for 10 mins to your comment after watching this crap, LMAO

  • @ch1ral No.

  • @ch1ral

If since 1975 we've become restricted in what we can enjoy, then are we really better off?

  • @ch1ral It's a million times better than the American shit we have to suffer through nowadays.

  • This is a killer comedy right here..

  • 15 people were defeated by the power of Ecky thump

  • I know this subject is old, but I have to say:

The fact that is was the last thing that person saw and this ultimately caused his death is nothing short of morbid.

  • lmao, had to be a good way to go! funny as hell, im american but, get all the humor. Sure wish there were more Europeans in america!

  • Did you know that one person actually died of laughter from this scene

  • long live t' masters of ecky thump

  • @Sparkonetwo exactly

  • am i the only one who watched this because this is how the dude from Unusual Deaths died? from laughing too hard for 20 minutes straight? LMAO

  • @GlambertHumanoid judging by the number of thumbs up, i'd say no.

  • @GlambertHumanoid Nah, I did too. XD.

  • @GlambertHumanoid yeah I did too but I dont understand HOW this killed him from laughter.....it's pure shit.

  • Try doing that today....yer'd get strung up as a racist!! Political correctness has got to stop..and soon! If you don't like something, don't watch it.

  • @paedr1

    This.

  • 14 people got hit by radio controlled black pudding.

  • I think I once saw Graeme on a pot of marmalade.

  • @Timebubbles .....

  • 13 people were hit with a black pudding.

  • R.I.P Alex Mitchell

  • Here's one American who always appreciated British humor...and any other humor, too. I loved The Goodies, but didn't acquire a taste for Monty Python until much later.

This stuff is just silly, zany fun.

  • damn, blackjacks are strong

  • I remember seeing them when I was about 19 or 20 years old. They were the only guys who may have been a touch bit funnier than Benny Hill (no disrespect meant I LOVE BENNY HILL!!). These comedic geniuses showcased some great English comedy. I remember my friends and myself practically rolling on the floor!!! ENGLISH COMEDY IS GREAT!!! I wish we had more Goodies and Benny Hill!!! As an American I say if my fellow Americans don't get it then they need to get a sense of humor! Bloody Daft Yanks!

  • @LewKaplanski . Dont be so quick to downgrade American comedy, your country has prodced some real class on TV such as Frasier, Simpsons and Family Guy, But its Stand Up Comedy where American comedy really came into its own and influenced comedy in the UK during thr 90s. Forget your Bob Hope and others with an army of writers behind them,America produced two all time giants in Lenny Bruce and Bill Hicks. Then in film The Marx Brothers.Benny Hill was childish sexist crap for spotty teenaged boys

  • A man died laughing to death watching this. His wife then sent the Goodies a letter saying Thank you. Thank-you for making her husbands last moments joyful.

Goodies, you truly are the kings of comedy.

  • Probally the greatest shame of the goodies was there were never any repeats.

They were lost to time, noone knows who the goodies are if you ask them, but will quite happily quote blackadder or monty python.

    Goodies rule tho.

  • @chris13ap Mate, you should've come Down Under. We've had repeats of The Goodies for years!! We love them more than the Poms did and every time they come down here they are treated like royalty. TBT,GG & BO are so well known here they get mobbed in the streets even 40 years later.

  • @Sparkonetwo I'm American and I completely agree. I don't get it.

  • @IriathZhul as t' Gran' Master reetly sed "There's nowt wrong wi' owt what mitherin' clutterbucks don't barley grummit"

  • It's not really politically incorrect: it's parodying stereotypes. There's a difference between poking fun at offensive clichés and subscribing to them in earnest. This short clip is too devoid of context to be funny - you need to see the whole episode to get the idea.

  • I want to find it funny, as it's a classic, but I guess it's just not to my taste...

  • It's not funny, my brother died that way.

  • @EvilMuff then fuck off- this was cutting edge back in the day and yes it's dated but if you didn't live thru it then bugger off twat!

  • im scraed to wtch this now ),:

  • how can you laugh for 25 minutes non stop? it is funny though. if you understand the humour.

  • You are the only person in the world that finds this show even remotely funny!

  • Love the racial stereotyping, especially the "Hello!!" from a blackened Graeme. If anyone finds this sketch offensive, kindly sod off back to University with the rest of society's annoying humourless bores. There's another Goodies sketch where they are trying to win some election & called at the door of some black chap & tried to win his vote by doing a black & white minstrel performance in his garden while Bill greeted the bloke with a "Helloo Dere" as if that would win his favour!?! CLASS!

  • Funny but you couldn't get away with it today.

  • I'm from the USA and think this great.

  • Somebody died from laughter watching this. Thank you, QI.

  • All these Politically Correct people are a bunch of

University Educated PRICKS, who have nothing

Better to do with their time...GET A LIFE, and learn

    To Laugh!!!!!!!

  • @Railwayman01 Speaking as a university educated girl, I never met anyone at uni who didn't appreciate this sort of stuff, except those who weren't really smart enough to be there. In our student house we watched a lot of Blackadder, had a quotes wall and took pride in being generally silly!

  • it was of its time....brilliant and funny

  • Ooh, the black boxer characterisation is a bit unfortunate, but Ecky Thump is a fond memory of childhood.

  • @AndrogyneMichinaga Word. I was a bit gobsmacked by the blackface, and disappointed. I remember enjoying the hell out of The Goodies when I was wee.

  • Lol gotta love the goodies!

  • Try looking in the mirror , jimmy prick , that should have you laughing your balls off ... Asshole

  • SLOL

    LOL

    SLOL

    LOL

    SLOL

    LOL

  • Possible the most stupid thing ive ever seen... this isent funny at all... i didnt even smile..

  • @jimmynick0 go fuck yourself and learn to respect the classics

  • @jimmynick0 I assume you live outside Great Britain to not find this at all funny.

  • the fact that some of you don't think this is funny....is even more hilarious!!!! ;-) xxxxx

  • E gad! Awl these yars I bin a Mastah o Ecky Thump una dinna noit!

  • Bill Oddie beat Chuck Norris in a fight with the black pudding

  • yeah, lets see jersey shoe stand up next to the epicness that is BLACK PUDDING! :D GOODIES FOR LIFE!

  • The Goodies and Monty Python comic gold

  • This was the first comidy sketch to ever kill a member of their audience.

Man was eating his dinner, watching this the day it was aird, he laughted and choked to death.

  • @Virusoffline What i heard, was man called Alex Mitchell wasjust normally sitting on the couch watching, and laughed continuisly for 15 minites, and then he had a major stroke and died from laughter

  • @EatsPiecp 25 minutes, aka THE ENTIRE SHOW. Even more extreme.

His wife sent the Goodies a thank you note for making his last few moments so happy.

  • the whole of series 5 is a classic

my fave ep is bunfight at the ok tearooms

  • Yes, Chuck Norris is Grand Master with Black belt and braces with Gold buckles!!

  • chuck norris learned ecky thump after seeing this.

  • If anyone knows who played the morris dancing music in the bagpipe scene i would be forever gratefull.

  • Amaizing comedy, quite timeless and totally PC free. Now isn't it time we got our house back in order ;)

  • From what I hear, Alex Mitchell died laughing during the scene where Tim, dressed as a Scotsman, tries to defend himself with his bagpipes. So watch this part of the clip if you dare...

  • Graeme wouldn't be allowed to dress up like a black boxer today.

  • I am from Lancashire and think this is hilarious!!

  • Comment removed

  • It's not that hard to beleivie a man actually died laughing from this, thanks for uploading it :)

  • Hilarious. Especially the scotsman. Ps: it's easy to not find things funny, just like it's easy to not appreciate music, art or good food. Why do some people post 'it's not funny' just to let us know they're boring. I already know there's boring people out there. Hi y'all. Now quiet!

  • I watched a program about the Goodies this very night and I searched up the old Ecky Thump, pretty hilarious in a way. My parents used to watch it, they sang along to the beginning part "Goodie Goodie Yum Yum". But my mum thought that it was Goodie Goodie Gum Drops! XD

  • 1:05 Hellooo! Love it!

  • Is it childish to find this INCREDIBLY HILARIOUS!?!?

I mean like a child would????

  • This is brilliant. Haven't seen it for 30 years and it still brings me to tears of hysteria..

  • I hadn't seen these in forever - thanks for posting. I'm going to link it onto my FACEBOOK page because nobody I ask here in America has ever heard of them, LOL!

  • @DIACEectronicMusic it is not an old wives tale, it is fact. They just did a feature on it on Weird or What with William Shatner, where they talk about how this man died from laughing watching this very clip. I remember reading about the guy dieing in the paper when I was a kid, as I used to watch the show.

  • @WolfgangB30 that is an old wive's tale

  • Eeh by Gum

  • "Strewth."

  • If anyone knows the name of the morris dance music in the bagpipe scene please tell me.It's excellent.

  • im 15 years old i still love the goodies

    THEY ROCK =D

  • I like the fact that the Australian guy talks without his mouth moving.

  • poor dude who died..

  • @Scizor3D The wife of the dude who died laughing wrote to the Goodies to thank them for making his last moments so happy! :D

  • The reason why the ecky thump scenes are funny is due alot to the Northern English dialect. Which foreigners just dont understand. Majority of people in the UK don't talk Home Counties english. BTW used to love eating black pudding !

  • haha i'm 25 and from Lancashire (or Greater Manchester as they like to call it now), first time i seen this show... it's so funny!!

  • @Selfhealer22 Only part of Lancashire was renamed Gtr. Manchester, another great chunk was renamed Merseyside and the top bit renamed part of Cumbria.

Personally I stick to old pre '74 proper Lancashire including Manchester and Liverpool. It was only London politicians dividing to rule anyway. They didn't fuck around with the home counties did they eh?

    :o)

  • @Sparkonetwo i get it

  • lol love the black face

  • The one withe the bagpipes could have won if he just played them badly, no one can withstand the power of badly played bagpipes.

  • @fsc360

You are obviously kind of retarded. You said anyone who laughs at this has no sense of humour. Do you know what humour is? It's when you find something funny and laugh at it.

  • For those who don't find this funny, it would definitely help to have seen the whole episode, or to bear in mind that it was basically making fun of the TV series "Kung Fu"!

I remember seeing this as a kid, and indeed, I had the re-attach the arse that I laughed off. Next day at school, everyone was being "Ecky Thumped" in the playground (far more pleasurable to give than "Tango"-ing someone).

    Happy days.

  • i dont get it

  • Comedy gold doesn't even cover it. If there's such a thing as comedy platinum, this is it.

  • I didn't even smile. How can anyone possibly die of laughing at this?

  • @tenniscrazy2 Try getting out the other side of bed ;D

  • @fcs360 Go away you humorless prick

  • @fcs360 Be careful, someone died watching this sketch!

  • @rjconnolly64 He died at the moment Tim came on as the Scotsman.

  • @Goodiesfanful So sad that he never got to see the full sketch :(

  • It's true! Someone did die from this! It's THAT hilarious!

  • 0:35 it looks liek he's got poo on the bottom of his foot lol

  • Those where the days when you could call a spade a spade.

  • @vuittion LOL

  • HILARIOUS!!!

  • Nowadays, nothing like this would ever make it to television. There would be total PC outrage. :-(

  • "Hello!"

  • Comment removed

  • I didn't laugh at all. How could Alex Mitchell die watching it?

  • @fuxseb Maybe he had a black pudding fetish.

  • To nawet śmieszne nie jest... ale z drugiej strony, kto normalny zrozumie "brytyjski humor"

  • Pewnego marcowego dnia 1975 roku angielski murarz Alex Mitchell zasiadł do oglądania swojego ulubionego programu telewizyjnego pt. „The Goodies. Nie wiedział, że będą to jego ostatnie chwile spędzone wśród żywych. Po dwudziestu pięciu minutach ciągłego śmiechu Alex był już martwy.

  • that boomerang packed abit of punch, good thing it missed first fly round

  • ja pierdole, co to jest?

  • Embarrasing

  • So Politically incorrect ,bloody wonderful !

  • @miiawh 0.56 How much trouble would you be in today? Ha ha

  • Someone died laughing while watching this? It wasn't that funny. =/

  • Yes he laughed so much that his heart stopped:/

  • I would love to know who does the music in the bagpipe scene.

Im sure its morris dancing music ;D

  • We did laugh at some rubbish in the olden days..hasnt aged well.

  • Not...funny.

  • Black pudding pwnage.

  • ....and a bit of parkin for afters!

  • HAHAHA this is fucking hillarious! i have this episode on dvd and i love watching this scene
