@nick211271 Anyone can make a citzens arrest, however anyone can be sued like for false arrest. Bus drivers in the United States are required by DOT regulation to wear a lap belt. Ask a First Transit Driver, he or she will school you on this. The bus driver must be at a complete stop before taking off the lap belt. This is so they don't fly through the windshield and have their bus fall off a bridge. They are not, however required to wear a shoulder belt like regular car drivers.

She was actually very professional. Bus drivers are allowed to discharge passengers when they fail to obey the rules or request of the driver. I am not sure about this company, but many companies including mine prohibit the taking of pictures or the recording of the driver without the driver's permission. So if it would have been my bus I would have done the same. Unless you asked before hand.

Just to clear things up, it is legal to video record anything in public. However in most states, you cannot record audio without the other persons consent. Since she did not give you consent, you could actually go to court.

You have to wear them if they are fitted but in the whole 7 years I've been driving buses only 2 had them. If they do have them I won't wear them because the most drivers killed in a bus crash happens because the steering wheel always shunts to the back of the cab cutting the driver in half, this nearly happened to me but because I wasn't wearing one I managed to jump over the cab door onto the floor and this saved my life, if I was wearing one I wouldn't have made it in time.

You don't know the circumstances. The guy with the camera is a former employee. He goes around harassing drivers and uses the camera to try to get evidence against the drivers for any rules infraction, no matter how minor. And I know this driver and she is sweet and very, very hot!

Just to clear things up, it is legal to video record anything in public. However in most states, you cannot record audio without the other persons consent. Since she did not give you consent, you could actually go to court.

You have to wear them if they are fitted but in the whole 7 years I've been driving buses only 2 had them. If they do have them I won't wear them because the most drivers killed in a bus crash happens because the steering wheel always shunts to the back of the cab cutting the driver in half, this nearly happened to me but because I wasn't wearing one I managed to jump over the cab door onto the floor and this saved my life, if I was wearing one I wouldn't have made it in time.
