@delacerdaa The stuff he is going through is actually VERY VERY VERY useful to always keep in mind in ANY sciences and he is using real examples, though i can understand why it may seem otherwise - i used to think the same and maybe he could have done a better job in terms of making it more interactive or modern but that is asking to go way above and beyond, still, coming from an older student, he seems like a damn good teacher.
@delacerdaa Because what the world is actually doing is constantly changing. Theory can be applied across generations to new problem sets and ideas. "If I have seen farther it is by standing on the shoulders of giants." -Isaac Newton
Forget the comment about random vs pseudo-random, If you *really* want to pick nits, at ~44:46 he says "one minus zero is... zero". Still, a good lecture IMHO. Go MIT!

How come colleges only teach in theory and not in actual world facts or what the world is actually doing?

I have an interest in computers but this is just flat out boring, sorry. Maybe I should get into the software part of computers, networking, etc.

I would like to add at the first part of ur lecture, that there is not such thing as random, especially in computer science.
