  • @mikedies89 funny hahah:)

  • its epic so fuck u

  • A epic song from a epic band, all as expected

  • a song doesn't have to be ridiculously long to be epic you tool.

  • @VeeDubTom04 Yes, it does.

  • AWESOME!!!!!

  • What a glorious song. Simply gorgeous.

  • best best best <3

  • they played new songs in San Diego, but it was sad to not see Jesse and Marty. I'm going to miss Marty's basslines. =[

  • I can't believe these guys aren't bigger than they already are! Their music is flawless

  • It happens to a lot of really great artists, unfortunately. I wish I knew why.

  • no, rice crispies are a lot better than corn flakes!!!

  • I love how they've been featured in Gilmore Girls. More than once. =D

  • i love this song :')

  • kevin spacey and jimmy fallon in the same band, wow

  • WTF? I was about to say that lol!

  • 1:55

    Heh heh...

  • lol

  • Mercer is a lyrical genius!

  • powerful version

  • haha this song has been stuck in my head since i posted my last comment 21 hours ago XD

  • ugh i love this song!!!

  • James Mercer is a genius.

  • fuck me hard. i love them!

  • une de mes préféré!!!

  • this song sounds exactly the same live as on the studio version.

  • holy crap how do you think of lyrics like that???? their fly but what do they mean??? i love it

  • They did so well! I love this song so much. Brilliant!

  • they played the hell out of that song

  • If you compare this to them playing Turn on Me on Letterman, you can tell how the quality improved. It's exponential.

    Even their imstruments upgraded.

Also, James has an amaziing voice even though he's faking an English accent... I wonder if it's deliberate?

  • i love this song!!

  • One of the few great things to come out of Albuquerque. great band.

  • I´m a fan from the Faroe Islands. Love this band.

  • soo under rated. especially here in the UK. i only know one other fan of the shins other than myself...SHOCKING!!

    they are just pure brilliance

  • i know, i don't know any other UK fan besides myself. so underrated.

  • The Shins FTW, So Says I! XD

  • What is ftw?

  • "For The Win"

  • The Shins FT! (for the win), So Says I! XD

    Better? :P

  • "our lust for life got away with the rent we hated"

fuckin love the lyrics in this song

  • I know, these lyrics by the Shins just blow me away.

Like the entire lyrics of Turn on Me from their later album.

  • this and new slang are my favorite shins songs

  • I remember seeing them on Conan and falling in love with them! There best song by far!!

  • this is probably my favorite of their songs. but all of their songs are good. i dont see how anyone can not like the shins.

  • Underated in the UK?

    FUCKING GREAT BAND

  • wow, is this really live? (of course I know it is, but I am floored with the flawlessness of the performance)

  • Best band in a long long time

  • How could anyone not love the Shins? Honestly, they are too amazing. I was just introduced to them recently, and i have no idea how i lived without them.

  • Boo! Get a Hair cut. (VomitALLLdeals)

  • Man, u don't diserve a dick...

  • This song was written by James Mercer - lead singer of the Shins ...

  • what the fuck are you talking about?

  • What are you talking about? Stupid MCR fan boys.

  • they're the kind of band you can't ignore they take my breath away live and also in records, the shins are amazing!

  • shit i love the Shins!

  • THIS is how bands are SUPPOSED to be!

they sound better live than they do on

recording, these guys can actually play

and dont need to hide behind editing and

    special effects. GO SHINS! :-)

  • i agree 100% good POINT!

  • Yes, these guys are one of the only bands that can pull that off. I agree 100%.

  • totally, when they were at bumbershoot they're voices sounded a LOT better.

  • @wolfmother27 I agree. Listen to Built To Spill as well. Their live performances put anyone to shame

  • @wolfmother27 theres a difference between natural skill and practiced skill, pop is usually no skill, a good average band is practiced skill, a band like this is where they put people where they belong, natural skill, plus the edition of practice skill creates the perfect live preformance

  • @wolfmother27 Exactly! It didn't sound right recorded.

  • this is an amazing song live

  • They sound so good live.

  • their such an amazing band.

i can't think of anything to say.

  • i love that song!

  • awesome song

  • I wonder if Kevin Spacey has actually met the Shins.

  • Great Band.

  • found them on the spring break episode of gilmore girls. i know right y am i even telling u this

  • yeh thats where i found this song...

  • I love these guys! I accidently found them on my media player and I fell in love with their music!! :)

  • How the hell do you accidentally find them on your own media player?

  • Not many people know (or it seems to me like not many people know) that Windows Media Center has two or three Shins songs from Chutes Too Narrow as demos when you open it, just in case you don't have any music in it to begin with.

  • LOVE them. The fact that they sound just as great live as they do after all the retouching makes me love them even more.

  • there is a picture of mercer where he kind of looks like luke wilson.

  • The Shins are a great band. I've always thought, however, that their visual doesn't quite match the sound of their music. To me, they give off a definite late 60's mod/psychedelic sound; A tad more stylization would enhance their product, I think - a paisley telecaster, a Rickenbacker 330, a shave... Go Shins.

  • good call, man! these guys rock

  • It's not often I consider "polish" to give creedence to the quality of a band...But, I agree with you. The Shins have serious talent and have crafted their retro sound and memory-jarring lyrics with precision. If they finished-off the "sound" with the "look" it would take their artistry to the next level...and give their audience a "Shins Experience".

  • I kinda like the fact that they look like your average man on the street. It's different from so many bands these days.

  • just that one girl... i sooo concurr :)

  • They are awesome, and this was a great performance--sound, they were tight, etc. But I loathe these shows that only feature the bands at the very end & rarely interview them. I would enjoy seeing an interview with them too.

  • Great song. Great band.

  • you said it! (08

  • there awsome live

  • awsome video

  • Always reminds me of a Brian Wilson song, just has that same vibe.

    Just great

  • what is the name of the song off the commercial?????

  • I enjoy this band (the first release anyway)

I just wish their songs were longer than 2 minutes!

  • yeah

  • i say we burn mr. fork, hes gone senile

  • i love the shins for their great melody, great overall band balance of sound, and most importantly their originality. I think James Mercer is one of the most gifted living artists today. Wonderful lyricist. Very dynamic sound. Very fresh and rangey.

  • What I love about these guys is how genuine they are live. They're not one of those bands that sounds great on the album but then you go to a show and it's like wtf.

  • bass player looks a lot like chris pontius...though he isn't.

  • God, I love them SO much!

  • This aint crap this is good music

  • Its from the heart and soul their not talking about stuff they don't know or feel

  • Shame there's peaple who have to ask that question. =(

  • yup.

  • You really don't know what "good" music is. The Shins rules! They 0wn!

  • this song rocks

  • who knew m night shyamalan was such a good guitarist

  • LOL

  • i dont see any m night shamalan

  • funny

  • who knew Kevin Spacey was such a good lead singer

  • LOL! Perfect.

  • I came here to post a joke Kevin Spacey comment and apparently I'm not the only one who noticed that

  • Hah! I found it!

  • Kevin Spacey is also an excellent singer.

  • He's the man of my dreams!!!

    Perfect music!

  • he looks a little like frusciante facially, but much more like kevin spacey

  • Haha excellent description

  • not really...Frusciante looks completely different...

  • actually i see where he resembles frusciante, look at his eyebrows

  • well yeah, I guess, the beard, eyebrows, and kinda thin figure. but the facial structure looks very different.

  • This guy looks like my old Boss Bill Brown of Salem.

Thats too funny! This band rocks. This is an older feeling and very cartoonish; lots of cartoons.

  • Class

  • mercer is such an awesome song writer, his lyrics are awesome, and they are fantastic musically too!

  • one of my favorite Shins songs

  • They performed this song in Gilmore Girls

  • the shins r one of the few that actually still have lyrics in their music and not just a catchy sound

  • These guys are what most new music lacks...substance... Song rules

  • How about The Shins resemble Kevin Spacey with the cast of SNL:

    Singer = Kevin Spacey

    Guitarist = Chris Kattan

    Bassist = Chris Parnell

    Drummer = John Belushi

  • omfg you are right!

  • that would be HILAR!

    and amazing!

  • James Mercer rox

  • I jog to this song, the studio version I mean. James's vocal at the end makes me want to travel at the speed of light. Enjoy it. Bands grow stale. Inevitable as forest fire.

  • what a superb band

  • singer = kevin spacey/john frusciante, guitarist = m night/dave grohl, bassist = chris parnell, drummer = background blur... song = awesome

  • he looks like Spacey, but nothing like Frusciante.

  • the most original, creative band out at the moment

  • I didn't think of Chris Parnell before, but yeah, Marty seems to resemble him (assuming you're referring to Marty). Dave, on the left, reminds me of a slightly more olive-toned Jimmy Fallon. Funny how that works.

    I love The Shins.

  • Dave looks more like M. Night Shamaylan, or however you spell it

  • Haha, M. Night Shyamalan... yeah, I can definitely see that.

  • he actually looks a lot like John Frusciante here

  • Am I the only one who thinks the guitarist looks like Chris Kattan and the bassist looks like Chris Parnell?

    Great performance.

  • i don't think the shins stole from the beach boys, while sounding similar at times, the beach boys never had a real hard drum beat and they didn't use synthesyzers since they hadn't been invented yet, but nonetheless. alos, james mercer's lyrics are deep and meaningful, and most , not all, of the beach boys' songs' meanings weren't too hard to figure out.

  • James Mercer would be flattered by the comparisons to Brian Wilson. Baffled, but flattered nonetheless.

Obviously, Mercer's the better poet. Wilson leaned on Tony Asher and Vandyke Parks for words to his gorgeous music.

  • I can't believe I missed this. I've been a huge fan for such a long time!

  • This is a great song.

  • Awesome! Awesome! Great live performance...Top form.

  • LOVE that voice. Mercer is fantastic

  • don't compare these guys to a band like the beach boys, the shins kick the beach boys' ass

  • Youre just like alot of people, you think the Beach Boys were just songs about surfer girls and shit. But they actually went on to do pretty psychedelic things. They paved the way for alot of todays music. I haer Brian Wilson influence everywhere these days.

  • i completly agree, their songs sound like ya know the whole love song bs but its a lot more complicated

  • that's true...i don't think that they even surfed...

  • Dennis Wilson was an avid surfer.
