  • Janáček and Czech Philaharmonic Orchestra is missing in this selection a lot.

  • @elgarian497 TY so much! i only recognized Mozart and Holst, thanks for uploading!

  • @elgarian497 Heey could u please list the track names used on the video? I've just recently discovered Sir Charles version of many of my favorite works and i'm astounded, you could say that i'm indeed "rediscovering my music".

  • @seragx99 Hello! Here are the different pieces, in order.

    1. Mozart Symphony no.40. (1st movement)

    2. Schubert Symphony no.9 (4th movement)

    3. Mahler Symphony no.6 (1st movement)

    4. Holst 'The Planets' - Jupiter

    Enjoy! :)

  • Really saddened by the death of the conductor Sir Charles Mackerras. Not only was he a really great conductor, he was a huge musical influence on yours truely. His performances of Handel, Janacek, Mozart and (most importantly) Gilbert & Sullivan formed a very important part of my musical education. He will be greatly missed.

I consider myself honoured to have been present at last year's Prom performance of Patience - one of the great G&S performances.

  • May he rest in peace.

  • I played on the Planets from last years Proms with him.The best performance I've done of that piece.Elgar's Cockaigne was the best also.Delius's Song of the High Hills was a revelation. In the past every show with Charles was special.Mahler 6, Glagolithic Mass, Beethoven 9, Janancek Sinfonietta.I first saw him conduct Gotterdammerung in 1972.I was then "hooked" on Wagner!Never a dull moment with him.Very exciting performances, and proper speeds!Age never withered him.

  • @lilleeWAfot You were in Mackerras' prom last year! Wow! It was a great prom! What instrument were you playing? So you are in the BBC Philharmonic?

You are very lucky to have worked with the great conductor!

  • Dear Daniel, thank you for making this video!

It is a great homage to the late maestro!

  • HE DIED!? NOOOOOOOOOO!
