So cool. I came here looking up Animal Collective clips. A related video was some kids doing a deerhunter cover and I'm like "I've heard this name before" so I look them up and this was one of the results, pretty good.
I am pretty jaded when it comes to music any more. but I am stunned. I have heard of this band for a while but never checked them out. I can honestly say that I haven't been this excited about a musical discovery for about 8 years. Holy shit.
well ''mothfull'' i am free and with freedom is freedom to say what the hell i wont as long as my message gets across ''peace'' life is complicated. i love music and deerhunter bradford..
@geniusgza7 You might enjoy Chapel Club. They cite Deerhunter as one of their influences. They aren't just a clone, though, their stuff can be a bit darker and a bit more introspective but they maintain that airy, almost ambient quality that Deerhunter has. They also have some faster, more 'rock' or 'shoegazy' type songs too. The lyrics are great too. for Deerhunter type songs I suggest 'The Shore' 'O maybe I' or 'All the Eastern Girls'. For the more aggressive stuff 'Surfacing' and 'Five trees'
When i heard this album it satisfied me in such a way that i knew i'd been waiting for this sound my whole life. Really can hardly wait until they come to the mid west. Hopefully they come up to Madison, Wisconsin some time soon.
@sasukenebe100 pitch shifters, reverbs, loop pedals and short delays. Its not any one pedal, it's combinations of stuff. Would be too complicated to guess exactly how they're using these effects, but its more about approach to playing than any particular gear - if you get all that sound flying around you have to be happy to live with any 'mistakes' you make, as it's really hard to fully control all that stuff. All part of the punk ethos :)
Bradford Cox made some cosmic trade which sacrificed his bodies physical appearence to supplement the beauty of his mind and sol, i would have made the same trade.
Ahh all those magical foot levers! Mr Cox is a true craftsman of sound! They sound like sonic water drops of nostalgia dripping onto my crown only to evaporate into a void of derealization. I need those foot levers!!!
i love the way this band makes me feel.. our true nature is spirit, not body
That we are eternal beings and that we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively, there is no such thing as death, life is only a dream, and we are the imagination of ourselves. ''bill hicks''
@coreymichaeleatman I feel the opposite. I feel like this band opens me to the reality of death, but also the beauty of it, as well as the majesty of life. When I listen to this band I stand in awe at the objective truth that I'm a part of, but is very difficult to understand. So I hear mystery.. the frontiers of truth and understanding.
this is so awesome, one of the best bands around right now, hope we get to hear a lot more from them, i really can't say how much i adore this at the moment
It's great to forget and then remember that He Would Have Laughed is dedicated to Jay Reatard. Incredible song by an incredible band for an incredible musician.
