I did re-upload this video as "Hot Tuna — Jack Casady Bass Solo (New Upload)".
Audio is now back but video quality has degraded somewhat due to resaving the low resolution original file. Problem may have been due to outdated codec that YouTube no longer supports. Maybe someone more technically savvy than I might know the actual reason.
Take 2 - didnt quite get it on the first: A businessman in Africa was kept awake all night and day by the sound of drums from the bush. He asked the cab driver, the news vendor and the doorman "do these drums ever stop?" and got the same response from all: "Oh, no sir, if drums stop... very bad..." Finally he begged the man at the desk "Please, what could be worse than these drums!?" The desk clerk got a sorrowful look on his face, and said in a whisper: "when drums stop - bass solo..."

@cowboystitching I know.... I heard it friom my band's bassist back in the 80's... heh heh... It was hard to get the telling right within the character limit... so had to try twice to do it justice...
Jack Casady is definitely one of my favorite bassists. When I first started out, Entwistle was the man for me, but my style just didn't really identify with him, so after a while and alot of focus on other bassists like: Paul McCartney, Roger Waters, John Paul Jones etc. I came across the song Crown of Creation. And thats what introduced me to Jefferson Airplane and the musical stylings of Jack Casady. The only thing that sucks is I'm the only 15 year old in my town who knows who he is.
I'm 17 man, trust me, i know EXACTLY how you feel. I mention the name Geddy Lee and no one knows what I'm talking about. The only thing they know about apparently is Lady Gaga and Kanye West. Too bad they don't know about real music like we do
@TommyGunnTheBassMan Maybe to you, but Geddy is one of the best bass players around..I'll even overlook the fact that he's Canadian jk..Not only are his bass lines amazing, he sing those beautiful melodies over the top..AT THE SAME TIME!!!
@Zevonfan524 I think he is wonderful and awesome and stuff (I have almost all their albums) but in the bass world hes overrated. To many people are like "OMGZ He iS GoDzZzZzZ!!". Sadly, the same thing has happened to flea.
He's the man who played the bass in "Voodoo Chile" (extended version) in Jimi Hendrix's"Electric Ladyland". So, he contributed to one of the "Egypt's Pyramids" of Rock music...Respect!
Yeah, he's been an excellent bass player. I used to date his brother Mike Casady back in high school in D.C. They look a lot alike. I was thinking of Mike and thought I'd look for Jack, just to note the resemblance. Got a nice bass solo into the bargain. Ha! Thx
Nice looking bass but it dosn't make any noise?

...to the clueless out there who question Jack's ability, go listen to:
Jefferson Airplane - the other side of this life
from Bless Its Pointed Little Head - and then ponder as to why the title applies to you.

That was awesome!! Thanks Gary.. I want to send you a tune with a very simple bass line, but it flows so well...

@whitefeet1 But at least it was a break from the incessent, indulgent drum solo.

My all-time favorite bassist, but just like Jorma he's inconsistent. This solo is rather pointless, but Jack has done incredible work over the years.

Casady is amazing. And he played with two other great:s in his career: Danny Gatton (when they were in D.C. high school) and Jimi Hendrix..

Funky number 7 (originally on America's Choice album) has to be te the song it comes out of. I can definitely hear parts of it in there.

Does anyone know the name of this song? Jack did an awesome extended solo during it also at the Lebanon, NH show in Dec 07...
