Just stumbled on to your vids.... Remind me so much of my younger days in the mountains.. GREAT filming, music, and Lore.. Please keep at it! BTW, is that a Boker knife??
I didnt know they still allowed open fires in the park so i have been bringing my stove with me for the past 3 years. I know many of the fire pits at the Lean-To's have been taken out.
@SilentWolf1966 It falls under the back country camping rules. Use designated fire pits when available, otherwise be smart about it. Process only dead wood (obviously).
@SkogKniv Ty for the info on fires.Didnt know if we could still build them in the park.So cool we can keep the knowledge comming and we will learn together.
"Fires should be built in existing fire pits or fireplaces if provided. Use only dead and down wood for fires. Cutting standing trees is prohibited. Extinguish all fires with water and stir ashes until they are cold to the touch. Do not build fires in areas marked by a "No Fires" disk."
@SkogKniv Yes i relize all the rules just thought they were banned in the park.As in many forests i have traveled to open fires are banned and you must use a stove.Forest fires are a real concern and was just addressing the issue.
Good to see the ol' kettle pressed back into service, mate. I couldn't make out the logo on the gators. What are they and do you like them. I'm in the market for some. Great vid as usual!
Excellent video, I have yet to be disappointed by anything you produce! Quick question, what is the make and model of the blade pictured at 7:47? Thanks.
Skog - excellent video once again, looked like a great time. Nothing like getting outside, chopping, grubbin around, good fire, and then some food and relaxation. Looks awesome.
I always hate seeing trash in the woods. Sometimes, we will take a trash bag with us, and as we walk along, if we see any trash, we'll pick it up and carry it out of there. I used to complain when I saw people leaving trash behind, but, I realized it didnt do any good. I had to become the "solution" and just pick it up myself..........sorta turning a "wrong deed" into a "right deed." There's always going to be those kind of people...sad, but true. Thanks for your vid's. My wife and I love them.
8:40 epic soup making music :D. May I ask what that tune is? I'd like to get my hands on it.
A pleasure to watch, as always. Thank you for giving us another peek into a beautiful, peaceful environment, and how it can be enjoyed to the fullest.
@waxmastawes I am not far from there and i seen Black Bear there many times. When i was a kid i remember my Uncle would take us to the Dumps there to watch them feed on the trash.
Came home from work yesterday and saw you had a new video. Yess! Your terrain is just like my favorite spots at 61 degrees north here in Norway. Nice video. Keep up the good work!
Never tried the wintergreen AND pine needles together. I'm not much of a pine tea kinda guy, does it take some of the bite outta the pine taste? I'll have to try it!! I see your still keeping the GSI kettle in the rotation! Good to keep all our "stuff" used and loved :) Thumbs up!
I made two tinder boxes with cat tail fluff. big tin packed full will shrink about 10 percent once charred. holds a big ember to start stubborn damp stuff. once the fire is lit slam the lid back on and it will be ready next time. when it is used up I repack the box with more fluff and renew the tinderbox. works for me.
I think these videos are great. They sum up some of the things I like best about camping and bushcraft without being ego-y. If I can't get out in the woods its nice to watch someone else doing it and doing it right!
fantastic vid i always enjoy your work you do thank you for sharing ....... i was wondering my wife and i was listening to the music and we both liked it at 11:40 could you tell me if possible the song and composer of the piece
the one dislike on this video if from someone that has bever been in the Adirondacks before. hell its my backyard lol anyway was curious to what brand that firestarted is that you have?
This is just a beautiful and very impressive landscape and even with such little words this video tells everything you need! Really enjoyed watching it and those wonderful pictures will stay in my head for a long time! thank you so much Rob! ATB from Austria Mike

There always seems to be something inside of me that stirs when I watch these videos. I am not entirely sure as to what it is exactly. I also think that your background music choice can't be any better. I am drinking my coffee, grateful to have taken part of this walk into the woods with you both. Great Job D
Nice vid. Lots of work editing there. Thanks for the effort. BTW, do you know what the proper name is for the little wooden cup with the handle in your video if it is indeed called anything other than a wooden cup? :)
as usual a really nice video Skogniv. i really enjoy you vid out in the Adirondaks. i live in the SE of england quite near to RM but we have nothing like that here nearly all broad leafed. woodland. but interesting all the same. loved the axes i more iten than not use the GB SFA if i take an axe out at all
@mazadan You might be amazed, that I can walk not 10 minutes from that spot and be in broad leaf myself. I am lucky to have an assortment of forest types here.
