what a great song. always loved the honesty and emotions that Phils voice reflected. the fact that this song was never released, makes me feel glad that record industry has taken a shit. they deserve what they got.
wow...that was cool- never heard it before! About the only thing that's noticeable in quality is I wish the vocals were a bit louder, but other than that- yes, thankful i got to listen to it
was listening to iron maidens new song 'the final frontier' for the first time the other day and it reminded me of a thin lizzy song - finally found it, thanx blacksabfan!
Well considering they are demos of tracks NEVER RELEASED, probably not. It wouldn't make much sense for the studios to record and press album quality versions of songs that won't fit onto the album anyway, would it?
I will say that the lossless versions of these tracks do sound a hair better. The flaws heard on .mp3 versions won't be found on those. I uploaded them about a 6 weeks ago over at DIME, along with other T&L demos.
Although you should be happy enough this stuff exists at all...
I've always understood it as being from September 1982...just after they got Sykes in the band. The guitar work toward the end with the pinch harmonics sound like Sykes, rather than say, Laurence Archer.
this is wonderfull im so glad to hear that there are still thin lizzy fans out there ever since ive heard phil ive became a fan instantly.. don't let it slip away guys..thin lizzy for ever..
Don't let it slip away... Can you imagine another album with Sykes on guitar? This lineup had unimaginable potential, and we'll never know because Phil's doing duets with Layne Staley in heaven.
what a great song...how come its not on thunder and lightning??i love the bassline man its actually deadly..,haha its great to hear people say they'v been lizzy fans since the beginning, im startin to think i dont deserve the name that i have on youtube seeing as how iv only been a fan since i was 11 which is only 4 years ago.........R.I.P. PHILO
It's really nice to see "young" lizzy fans, I'm old !!! Been a lizzy/lynott fan since I can remember, now my son listens to Lizzy...shows how great the man is (was)
I wonder how/why this song wasn't on the album...maybe it was destined to be the title track on another album??
Dude, thank you SO MUCH for posting ALL of these rare Philo/Lizzy tracks. The stuff with Huey Lewis is equally great... I don't know whether to laugh or cry while listening to this stuff...but just like Phil, I'll just smile sooooo sly!
I've followed Lizzy since 76 (23 gigs) but never have I heard this one, I had heard about it so thanks so much for posting it! This is definitely a very special Phillip song
Fantastic, been a Lizzy fan from 1978. You should make sure Philips Mum has a copy of this stuff Philomina. You can find her on the Roisin dubh trust site. Great to hear his lyrics good even when he was not himself.
Dude, I am blown away!! The intro bass line..damn...one haunting song. This tune as well as the Thunder and Lightning showed that Lizzy still had alot left, but music had changed and while Lizzy was still strong, a new music era dawned, one in which even Lizzy could not overcome. Thanks for posting..I'm stunned!!
Definitely a song with good potential... aside the first version you posted - still a little bit too long. To me this tune sounds close to the darker renegade-vibe (with "Angel of Death", "Renegade", "It´s getting dangerous" as melancholic-atmospheric and quite long songs with 6 minutes plus x)
But of course it is John Sykes on guitar and so it must!!! be around the Thunder & Lightning era!
amazing music! can't get over the harmony between the toned-down bass guitars and Phil's voice

This is a rare version, sure. But it's actually better than the other version.
Kind of think of his decline and his sad death in the lyrics.
He's truly a fallen legend.
