  • amazing music! can't get over the harmony between the toned-down bass guitars and Phil's voice

  • i like dont let him slip away better, but this is still great, never heard this version until today, thanks blacksab once again!

  • Sounds more like Renegade - Era. Even sounds a little like Renegade.

  • Top this anyone, please.

  • Herregud så jævli bedre enn d her kan d ikke gjøres. fantastisk!

I'd like to hear this 'Always' tune too.

  • @boldphilo36 Yeah, this sounds interesting. Please share.

  • feel a little upset at how good this realy is,you just want to hear more and more of our phil, what would he be doing now?

  • Think it is called "Don't Let Him Slip Away".

  • Thanks for taking the time to share this with us man. This sounds really good for a demo.

  • what a great song. always loved the honesty and emotions that Phils voice reflected. the fact that this song was never released, makes me feel glad that record industry has taken a shit. they deserve what they got.

long live the wild one cowboy from ireland

  • wow...that was cool- never heard it before! About the only thing that's noticeable in quality is I wish the vocals were a bit louder, but other than that- yes, thankful i got to listen to it

  • That was the best 7 minutes of my life.

Still listening, two years on !!!

  • was listening to iron maidens new song 'the final frontier' for the first time the other day and it reminded me of a thin lizzy song - finally found it, thanx blacksabfan!

  • Awesome song... I can't believe I'm still discovering Thin Lizzy songs I haven't heard before after all this time... Thanks to you blacksabfan

  • what a voice!!!! Thin Lizzy will live for decadesand decades, Phil you have always been in my life since i was 7, plzz dont go. xx

  • You make me cry Phil.

  • You make me cry Phil.

  • ALL these songs should be released...Its an awesome song and its bad not to see the light of day....Phil forever...

  • this is one killing base line!

  • This is an awesome song, should have made it at least to a b-side of one of the singles, by now it would be on CD.

  • This is a rare version, sure. But it's actually better than the other version.

Kind of think of his decline and his sad death in the lyrics.

    He's truly a fallen legend.

  • take me back to dublin 30 year;s ago dublin is my home town i realy miss phil

  • I M M O R T A L

  • The One and Only >> Phil Lynott >> This song will last forever, number ONE !

  • amazing song

    PHIL LYNOTT NUMBER ONE

  • Phil lives inside us...

  • Happy 60th Phil,

    We miss ya big time!

  • I'm no soft touch but lookin at phils pics of later on and heairn that it makes me want to cry

  • thx blacksabfan for all thin lizzy

  • Vaya pedazo de tema ¡¡¡¡

    Grande Phil Lynott...

  • Is either version of this song available somewhere in ALBUM quality, or is it only available as a muddy demo version?

  • Well considering they are demos of tracks NEVER RELEASED, probably not. It wouldn't make much sense for the studios to record and press album quality versions of songs that won't fit onto the album anyway, would it?

I will say that the lossless versions of these tracks do sound a hair better. The flaws heard on .mp3 versions won't be found on those. I uploaded them about a 6 weeks ago over at DIME, along with other T&L demos.

Although you should be happy enough this stuff exists at all...

  • Do you know what year this is? Is it really Thin Lizzy or already Grand Slam?

  • I've always understood it as being from September 1982...just after they got Sykes in the band. The guitar work toward the end with the pinch harmonics sound like Sykes, rather than say, Laurence Archer.

  • @nuncjusz1 Two versions are available on the CD "The Man & His Music" Vol IV

  • another great song from Thin Lizzy!!!

  • this is wonderfull im so glad to hear that there are still thin lizzy fans out there ever since ive heard phil ive became a fan instantly.. don't let it slip away guys..thin lizzy for ever..

  • Don't let it slip away... Can you imagine another album with Sykes on guitar? This lineup had unimaginable potential, and we'll never know because Phil's doing duets with Layne Staley in heaven.

  • Wow! I can't believe i never heard this. Thanks so much for sharing this. Now where can I get a copy?

  • great...

    phil forever..

  • the best of alll....

  • tnx i am a fan of phil

  • this is the version. this is it great version THANKS BLACKSAB

  • what a great song...how come its not on thunder and lightning??i love the bassline man its actually deadly..,haha its great to hear people say they'v been lizzy fans since the beginning, im startin to think i dont deserve the name that i have on youtube seeing as how iv only been a fan since i was 11 which is only 4 years ago.........R.I.P. PHILO

  • It's really nice to see "young" lizzy fans, I'm old !!! Been a lizzy/lynott fan since I can remember, now my son listens to Lizzy...shows how great the man is (was)

I wonder how/why this song wasn't on the album...maybe it was destined to be the title track on another album??

  • Thanks so much for posting this blacksabfan... havent heard this in ages! your a star!

  • tight bass playing.. as regard solid rock the best

  • Dude, thank you SO MUCH for posting ALL of these rare Philo/Lizzy tracks. The stuff with Huey Lewis is equally great... I don't know whether to laugh or cry while listening to this stuff...but just like Phil, I'll just smile sooooo sly!

  • Man. That's what I'm talking about Phil. Thanks man for the life lessons.

  • I've followed Lizzy since 76 (23 gigs) but never have I heard this one, I had heard about it so thanks so much for posting it! This is definitely a very special Phillip song

  • I know I've already posted a comment, but this song is soooo good, this and "one wish"

showed how much tallent Phil had. Thanks for posting so much rare stuff Sabfan.

  • You can post as many comments as you want...and you're welcome.

  • @lynottfan4 You put it so nice! No one has the feeling of Phil.

  • Fantastic, been a Lizzy fan from 1978. You should make sure Philips Mum has a copy of this stuff Philomina. You can find her on the Roisin dubh trust site. Great to hear his lyrics good even when he was not himself.

    Dave

  • wow...thx for teach me about a new song from lizzy..

  • i have another version of this sing with differet and more lyrics... i will post it on youtube :D

  • damn, now i saw that this is also posted by blacksabfan, sorry :(

  • i have been a lizzy man for 20 years and i have never heard thin tune. thank you

  • Dude, I am blown away!! The intro bass line..damn...one haunting song. This tune as well as the Thunder and Lightning showed that Lizzy still had alot left, but music had changed and while Lizzy was still strong, a new music era dawned, one in which even Lizzy could not overcome. Thanks for posting..I'm stunned!!

  • Wow blacksabfan you've got such a goldmine of Lizzy stuff here! How come you're not remastering a box-set of rarities for Vertigo?

  • congratulation blacksabfan, you've got all my respect. again congratulation for posting all this rare stuff.

  • phil Lynott the best rock band in the whole damn world. R I P phil. The sun goes down 12inch brill.

  • one of the best unreleased songs, should definately been released. i prefer this to sun goes down

  • Thank you for posting all this rare stuff.

This song really is cool, I wonder why it wasn't released ?

  • Definitely a song with good potential... aside the first version you posted - still a little bit too long. To me this tune sounds close to the darker renegade-vibe (with "Angel of Death", "Renegade", "It´s getting dangerous" as melancholic-atmospheric and quite long songs with 6 minutes plus x)

But of course it is John Sykes on guitar and so it must!!! be around the Thunder & Lightning era!
