Thinking of certain differences as "abnormal" results in social structures that promote isolation and lesser status for certain individuals, including in particular those with developmental & intellectual disabilities. (Where you can watch anything in rotation for the month) I never really comment on youtube videos, but I felt so compelled to find somewhere to post a comment that perhaps the family would see. These parents are the most wonderful loving, unselfish people I have ever seen. The love that they have for David and Monica is so beautiful. I read at the end that Monicas step father recently adopted her:) I hope that these two have a long and wonderful life!
Actually, there have been 3 documented cases of men with Down syndrome fathering children. But information on sexuality and fertility is mostly anecdotal, because there hasn't been much research. With the recent increase in life expectancy (60-70 yrs today, vs. 25 yrs in 1983) and more opportunities to live in the community, date and maintain longterm relationships; there will likely be more situations of men with Down syndrome fathering children and all couples should address contraception.
I watched this documentary and I'm a 6 foot 300 lb guy and I wept like a little girl with a skinned knee. A beautiful story and pure love involved between Monica and David, we could learn alot from them myself included.

To angela, it's assumed that men with DS are sterile. There are different types, some of which are inheritable and others which are genetic anomalies
