Unfortunately there is a substantial amount of effort going into the idea that we should silently hand future generations to the men who wish to have multiple wives, slaves, forced marriage, child brides, and the legal right to inflict violence, maiming, mutilation, flogging, stoning and beheading as they wish. Islam, the throat-slitting, apostate-killing, child molesting bandit slaver ‘religion of peace’. I’m not sure whether such people could really give a damn.

The resort in this video has been dramatically scaled back due to our efforts, and will no longer include a golf course.

Bimini is currently undergoing many positive changes, including some of the unsightly barges and junk around the island being used to create new artificial reefs.

Bimini has also been mentioned recently by National Geographic as a premiere eco-tourism destination!

@votejamie08 We're still pushing to get Bimini's Marine Protected Area established. We've been waiting 10 years, but we won't give up. The western shore of the North Sound lagoon has been destroyed, but the golf course has not been built, and hopefully never will be.

I visited Bimini several times in the Mid 1970s. I simply cannot imagine how much they have changed the north part of the island. What worried me more was the mention of the fertilizer run-off from the golf course. I used to spend hours watching the fish in that bay, and the thought of that all going away is painful. I was sad enough to learn about the Complete Angler, but this just takes the cake. So many islands they could have bulldozed - why couldn't they leave Bimini alone!

My heart bleeds when I see that this development has been allowed for the sake of a few but without any regards for the environment or the people of Bimini. You need to fight back! Never give-up. Don't these yahoos realize the future of the entire Bahamas and then Caribean is at stake if they remove the mangroves in Bimini from the ecosystem?

All the money they think they are going to make with this project is going to be short lived......so very sad.

I would not want to travel all the way from europe to this island just to it became similar to mallorca with it's 200 hotels per spuaremile.

like it's said in this report it's the unique nature of bimini, the reefs the fish and the sharks that makes people to travel there and not a golf course.

I supplied building materials to this project fo the first 5 years ( siding , railing all vinyl) none of it is eco friendly and in fact a danger to people. When the sun cooks it makes a cancer causing vapor. Plus the burn the scraps by the ton and that sends a toxic black smoke into the air that is enough to keep birds away for miles. I hope this project goes belly up most of the properties are purchased with sub prime loans. This will be a ghost town. I hope the government steps up now.

The mangroves and vegetation help stave off Hurricane damage to the island. This is sad. We hope it works out because we are encouraging people to visit Bimini. It still is a very beautiful place. We encourage people to still visit this island and speak up about what they experience. Get to know the people and the island.

Development is a dirty word. Learn the government & big business lingo, be aware of hidden meanings, of the objective and impact of distorted meanings. Forest management = chopping down trees. etc. There are people who want to destroy the earth.

I would like to get involved in this matter, because the Bahamian Government seems to have full control of the Bahamas. The country is a democratic one, but where is the check and balance of the governmen?  The people's voice seems to be faint to the government. I want to know how I can get involved in barring phase II of this project. The people have a say, and we should be heard.

Just wait t untill i my wrath against this contiuning project starts im no Small time guy nor am i the wealthiest but i bring in a few hundred thousand $ a year and i love bimini absolutley love it. What they have now is fine phase 1 is ok with me but phase 2 of thier project is Unexceptable. If i have to i will light thier casino on fire i will burn all of thier equipment they are using to start the second phase costing them huge amounts of money. me and everyone i know is boycotting the hilton

my marine biology teacher pointed this video out to our honors class and gave us our quarter project: enlighten people about the situation with Bimini. And now me and two of my friends are doing all we can to help save this beautiful island. For us, it is now more than just a simple quarter project -- its an opportunity to create some change in this world, for the better.
