For all those who jailbroken or unjailbroken; just hold Home button& sleepbutton till you could turn it of, than release both buttons, than press the home button till it unlocks the Phone again! Thats the Apple method to free your memory!

Or if app keep crashing google swapmode deb and tranfer to your iphone at var/root/Cydia/AutoInstall reboot two times enable game mode and volla no more app crashes (Only for Jailbroken Device)

there is an app in the appstore better than sbsettings in sbsetting is frees up to 56 mb for me i used the app memory it got up to 72 mb

@icekillez i use memory booster,, it will free up to 100mb, i just dont what wired is, u can see that while you free up ur memory,,, it says, free, active inactive and wired,,,

If your ipod/iphone is jailbroken you can do this throught SBSettings. Open SBSettings, go into processes and click FREE UP MEMORY. With this you can free up over 60MB.

when i do that it says storage: 74MB on / 3044 MB on /var

how do i have more than 74 mb? because my friend has the same exact thing except he has 86MB on blah blah =(

im having a similar problem. mine is jailbroken and says: Storage: 73MB on/ 4000MB on /var...... It gets lower as i install certain types of apps. I want to get it up to 100MB or higher.

@Mark742617000027 using sbsettings to free memory doesn't always work. If no app is still running yet it says you are down to 50mb (which is low by 3gs standards) you can't free memory since there's no apps to kill

@LAHrebirth on my ipod touch first generation i have freed up to 65MB. i know it does not always work, thats because you already have enough memory freed i.e something like over 55MB and you dont NEED any more freeing. i have once had freed up my memory from 52 to 65MB when there have been no apps running.

@theroncon well some people may not have jailbroken their device on the day of getting it.. i was just giving an alternate method to this for people who have jailbroken devices no matter if they jailbroke it as soon as they got it or later on. i dont see a funny side in "if", just meant that if it is jailbroken then you can use the method i mentioned and if it is not jailbroken than you cant use this method...

@theroncon Exactly. IF any viewer's device is jailbroken, because jailbreaking is a completely voluntary option and is not necessary upon purchase of a device and anyone with a non-jailbroken device would not be able to access SBSettings. My comment was not solely aimed at you personally..

@gagai786 As far as I am aware there is no way to force Safari and Mail to fully close upon exit.. However, I am pretty sure that when these apps are running in the background they use up minimal system resources (I imagine it is somewhat like the 4.0 software in which it keeps applications saved in the background but at a much less cost of resources in comparison with when you have it open on screen). Sorry I could not be of further assistance.

There isnt a way to add more memory I dont think.. I wish there was! I usually just use Free Memory actually.. Best App I have found now that I have used it for awhile.. The other way is to just respring.. I thought there were other Apps but I dont think so :(
