We've been using open source crm software for almost four years and although it doesn't seem to get the marketing dollars or industry hype of some of the commercial software providers, we love it. With its cost and flexibility advantages I can't imagine ever switching.
Cool video! Open source software isn't the answer for everybody but open source CRM software can be a great answer for many companies - both SMBs and the largest of enterprises.
Great video! As a crm consultant and trainer I have seen these challenges a thousand times!
Sugar made a mark some years ago when it was released, since then newer open source crm projects have gone a lot further, incorporating deeper feature sets, slicker user interfaces and newer development concepts and frameworks. I particularly like Zurmo
I am not sure any product can go through time unchanged or changed only in the "good" ways that we want. There is a lifecycle that you can't get away from and probably don't want to get away from--selling version 2 or version n is big business after all. But what every customer wants is value for money--the knowledge that you spent $X over time, that it averaged out to $Y per year and that it enabled you to make $ZZZ.
Open source CRM has really come a long way. Systems like SugarCRM can compete very favorably with major players such as Salesforce, Oracle on Demand and Microsoft CRM. Good video.
I think open source CRM is leading the open source software industry in terms of business applications for many of the reasons cited in this video. We have a subsidiary using SugarCRM and is very happy with it. I think its only a matter time before we see more adoption of open source ERP, manufacturing, HR, supply chain and similar business apps.
That IT monster still lives at my last company. They didn't recognize that over-customization of their CRM and ERP software would lock them out of upgrades and new available social media add-ons.
I like this open source crm software video. It hit the right points - source code flexibility, extensibility, cost savings and freedom from vendor lock in. Not to say there are not issues and concerns - there are - but such is the case with all forms of enterprise software. Open source crm offers a good alternative for many.
Good CRM open source illustration. Access to source code can deliver the ultimate extensibility but its been my experience that the strength of the open source community delivers the biggest value.
Good video. Open source is probably the future for CRM software and many other business software systems, it's just going to take time to get there.
