Hey this is a nice video,But I have a few questions to ask,I live in the Fort hood area and am a begginer to fishing ive only fished at still house 2 times I fish at the marina,and all i catch is 1/2 pound bluegilss and sometimes less that that,What find of fish are in that lake and where is the bset place to fish?and do you know fishing places on Fort hood,if your in the army,is there a stock pond behind the sportsman center?

There are several stocked ponds on post, go to the sportsmans center and they will give you a map and stocking info. Stillhouse and belton both kinda suck for catfish. They are there though, but not the best lakes in texas for catfish. If you have a boat I can tell you a few places to go, if not about the only place I fished from the bank was on cowhouse creek on post, right where it goes into lake belton. Google map it and you will see the dirt road that gets you down there.

@TexasAngler1 not sure, i never really fished the ones on post much at all. The sportsmans center has a map with all the ones you are allowed to fish. Your best bet for some catfishing from the bank would prob be to drive down to granger and fish by the damn. Its tough around fort hood.

yeah you will need a special on post fishing license, just go to the sportsmans center on post and they will take care of everything for you. Not sure if its free for those under a certain age or not. Granger is about an hour away, but is a much better lake for fishing.

@suicide5389 no they actually broke. 99 percent of poles are two piece poles, nothing wrong with them at all, and they make it MUCH easier to carry around, but thanks anyways, and your right I do say fuck alot

You caught some nice fish in Stillhouse or Belton not sure which lake it is they both look about the same. I always fish Stillhouse and have also caught alot of catfish. Crappies are starting to bite now at dana peak. Nice video man good fishing!

@anglingchris I think that was just the boat slapping up against the pylon I was tied to. I am in the Army, and this was filmed near fort hood, but it was across town on Stillhouse hollow lake.

Carp are some invasive nasties that all fishermen have to kill here in the USA.

Glad to see that cast nets work on carp... Regular fishing shure doesn't seem to work on them!

Seems to be a great way for me to get some free food for my dog :)

I know that here in Indiana cast nets are illegal to use on game fish, but what about asian carp (grass, silver, etc.), carp are legally considered invasive here right?

I have caught carp like that in a cast net while trying to get shad out at Lake Weatherford. I also caught a 7.5 lb bass in a cast net at Weatherford. I threw him back after we weighed her.
