  • Lol, anybody who thinks this dude is African American needs a brain transplant.

  • @CuriosityRoads why? where is he from then?!!!!

I thnk you're the one who needs one! I just red his autobiography

  • @CuriosityRoads he's half black

  • @CuriosityRoads Fredrick himself didn't know for certain the color of his father, neither do you, idiot troll.

  • 2:25

    At age 6...

he was forced to play with the daughter of the

    plantation owner...

therefore his childhood came to an abrupt end??

    Are YOU KIDDING ME?

What pile of propaganda crap... is that?

  • This man was a true gem! Thank God for Him. :-D

  • somehow a drug dealer by the name of frank lucas has a bio with about five times as many views

  • i like american history

  • i wish it was longer

  • Fredrick Douglas, why is a cursed whiteman and a syphillis diseased white woman narrating the biography of this mighty black patriot?

  • REAL AMERICAN HISTORY RIGHT HERE!!!!

  • What would Fredrick say if he saw young black boys carrying fo fo's, and letting their ass hang out of their pants? He would be horrified. Black parents, especially males, you need to start raising your children properly and with values, then maybe they can really kick ass in the world like Fredrick Douglass did.

  • @astrolifter What do you mean black parents, raising your children properly is a duty of everyone. Sagging doesnt mean your uneducated either, your opinion means nothing and i advice you stay in school, or read a book.

  • @pacngears Your response suggests that you are the one that needs to stay in school, because it's full of erroneous assumptions. Of course it's EVERY parent's responsibility to raise their children properly. Sagging doesn't necessarily mean one is uneducated but it carries a negative stigma and is a bad habit to get into. You're not going to enter a job interview sagging are you? The fact remains that many children in the black culture are not getting optimum parenting, struck a nerve didn't I?

  • @astrolifter Dont target a group, when its a duty of everyone to raise their children properly. Its not "especially males" its everyone. Sagging has a negative stigma however i simply pointed out the fact that the way someone dresses doesnt define who they are. The fact remains that many children in all cultures are not getting optimum parenting. "LMAO" <- how old are you?. The reason why i have my username with Pac in it, is because may main time on youtube is listening to his music.

  • @pacngears I agree with this statement. A lot of parents, regardless of ethnicity and culture, really don't have a clue on how to be good parents. I was mentally and verbally abused by my mother growing up, and it invariably affected my self-esteem, even into adult hood, and affected my relationships with the opposite sex as well. Tupac's music is awesome to lift weights too, it brings out aggression in me, which I channel into my training session,

  • @astrolifter Yeah and i can tell you work out.

  • @pacngears I started when I was a teenager. With all the anger and aggression I had, I had to channel my energy somewhere. I could have easily went down the beaten path and became a criminal. Now I'm just getting back into it.

  • @astrolifter I started working out as a teen to vent my anger, gain weight and at the time to gain more confidence. And good for you brother.

  • @astrolifter Im not writing an essay, this can be as grammmatically incorrect as i wantit to be.

  • @pacngears Admittedly it was petty for me to point the errors out. I felt bothered that your initial response to my first post implied that I wasn't educated.

  • @astrolifter You are truly a computer warrior. You are right since you wrote more replies you have won this argument. If you are assuming im african american you are wrong. I dont wear do-rags at all, but can you now enlighten me with discussing human rights and relating it to the narrative of the life of Fredrick Douglas.

  • @pacngears Actually, you won the argument because you calmly pointed out the fact that I was operating in computer warrior mode. I have no choice but to delete most of my responses.

  • @astrolifter May you now enlighten me with discussing human rights and relating it to the narrative of the life of Fredrick Douglas?

  • @pacngears How would that be enlightening you? You obviously know a lot about the subject already. I just admitted that I have a lot to learn with respect to the man.

  • @pacngears I need to study and learn more about the man. What I do know is that he carried himself with dignity and was highly intelligent, just as Martin Luther King did. MLK was also one of the best speakers in history in my opinion. His assasination really looked bad for the white race. I don't believe the story that just one person was behind it though.

  • @astrolifter I understand that you were offended, that was the intent, and even though i disagree with some of the things you are saying you seem to be a better intellectual than i thought you would be.

  • @pacngears I appreciate that acknowledement. I was reading up on Douglas, I found it interesting that he advocated a non-violent approach much like King did, and that he even ran for vice president, the first african american to do so. I find it deplorable that blacks were enslaved and treatment like they were. Its frustrating because sometime I feel that some black people today remain bitter about it and take it out on white guys like myself.

  • Frederick Douglass was truly a man b4 his time

  • Frederick Douglass was a crusader for freedom, an advocate of justice, an outstanding role-model,...and legally a thief as he pointed out.

  • I grew up as a white kid in Washington D.C. During Black History month when I was in 1st or 2nd grade, my teacher asked me who my favorite African American leader was. I said Frederick Douglass, and the reason was because he rose up and beat the fuck out of the asshole who was whipping him!

  • Frederick Douglass to me is a LEADER of all people. Jesus Christ of Christianity (King of Jews). Muhammad of Islam and the Muslim world. Indian religion (i.e. Hinduism, Jainism, Buddhism or Sikhism) are only stories From far away places who fought each other for power and land and still do to this day. Frederick Douglass fought for MANKIND and FREEDOM for ALL through peaceful means. I'm White and Irish and my kids know of him, Hopefully their Kids too. Alway's will be PROUD of his work .

  • Thank Ireland and the Irish people for letting the black slaves of America and the world know that you were not intended to be slaves, and that white race did not want to own you.. It was a disgraceful mistake by people who did not represent the caucasian race..

FREE AT LAST.. FREE AT LAST...

  • @MrADUB1987 nice man

  • @SkullCrusherer Fredrick Douglas's looks are not typical of half white people. However, they are typical of people who are predominantly black in ancestry. Nicole Ari Parker is mostly black, but she looks half white. Thing is, she is not the norm. More often than not ppl w/ her looks are mixed. It's all about probabilities. Their is no point in making exceptions when Fredrick doesn't even kno his father

  • waht??

  • im black and im proud. yes i dun did is. {:

  • This Man Knew The ENEMY, Understood Them And Then USED KNOWLEDGE To Attack. He EXPLAINED!!! He Did Not Yell SCREAM, And DEMAND He Told Them (with wisdom) How Wonderful America Could Be But Never Would Reach Any Greatness With The LAw That Allowed Slavrery.

Oh Yea, I AM A SIMPLE REGULAR WHITE GUY i Work With 1,150 People, Of Which 500 Or So Are Black. Now, I Would Say That About 75 Of Them Know Who Fredrick Douglas Is? WHY? I am So NOT IMPRESSED With One Celbration After Another. Why O Why?

  • very profound to say the least

  • One person in this world is pro slavery... whoever hit that dislike button...

  • The truth is that Douglass looks very white in other pictures. He also wrote and spoke white as well as having a very high IQ.

  • @CopsUrMasterAndLord , Writing and speaking eloquently does not have white added to it, if you know the history of his people you would respect our language abilities and clear thinking as NATURAL, please research The Kemet mystic system, science, mathmatics etc. Socrates, Aristotle and many other european "scholars" studied FIRST at Timbuktoo library city .Our science was 4000 yrs old by then. Alexander "The Great" Thief. burned the great city to the ground, "The Book of the dead" is All Ours

  • @pyramid451 I was actually joking about that. I just said it as a joke. He does look white in some photos, but I know there are smart black people. Look at the philosophy talk guy. He is brilliant. However, Socrates and the Greek philosophers did not get their ideas from Africa. That much is absurd. It is recognized that analytic philosophy arose in only one culture, the Greek culture.

  • @CopsUrMasterAndLord

    Nah,buddy.

Douglas looks more like a black Karl Marx.

  • @thirdshift47 I know because he has Caucasian blood in him from his white father.

  • @CopsUrMasterAndLord

All black Americans have roughly 17-20% European blood admixture.

    It's called chattel miscegenation.

  • @thirdshift47 No kidding dude. That's what we have been talking about the whole time. We have been talking about Douglas's mother probably having a relationship with the owner of the plantation. Then you come along and say, "It's called chattel miscegenation". That doesn't add anything to it.

  • @CopsUrMasterAndLord

Douglas didn't even know his father dumbass, and 'probably' isn't conclusive evidence(the very idea that you'd even attempt to have a meaninful discussion about it is weird).

Infact, what his father was having any relevance to my suggestion of a Marx resemblance doesn't even make sense unless Karl Marx himself was Douglass' paternal father.

Just thought that i'd add that.

  • @thirdshift47 I totally agree, and that is why I said it was like his father which you also seem to have conceded to me. If not father perhaps grandfather or cousin. What would be truly amazing would be if we found out that it was in fact Douglass that fathered Marx. There are cases of something similar in these mixed-race genetics as you pointed out in Douglass being more than half white. Good points.

  • Read MY BONDAGE AND MY FREEDOM!

By far one of the most brilliant, relevant and heart wrenching books Ive ever read in my life.

  • Come Learn How 2 Dougie… Learn About Frederick Dougie!!!

    Happy Frederick Dougie Day!!!!!!!

  • I am proud of all of YOU for watching this video, educating yourselves on a great AMERICAN historical figure, doing your part to dispell the ignorance of the African American past, and leaving all of these beautiful and positive comments. The past is done, and the future is extremely bright. As you watch this video, its hard to conceive that today we have our first African American as PRESIDENT. Quite remarkable isn't it? This truly is a GREAT country we live in. God bless us all!

  • Too many people looking up Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaj, etc.... Not enough ppl learning about those who truly paved the way and sacrificed for us, the future...

  • Get Educated.

  • thanks Mr. Douglass

  • Frederick Douglass is one of my role models and is a definite role model for any type of oppressed people. Frederick Douglass shows why people should be rebels and he is the perfect example of somebody turning against authority.

  • Frederick Douglass was a freakin' genius.

  • Holy Cow! Frederick Douglass WAS a WHITE MAN!

  • @CopsUr I seriously doubt his Father was white. He wasn't sure who his Father was and he look way too dark or "African" to be half white.

  • @GGLebo23 You can be half white and be dark skin with african features. You can also be half black, have pale skin and caucasian features. Genetics are unpredictable.

  • @Onegurrrlrev Thats the thing. Is features aren't Caucasoid at all. He looks straight Black. The fact that the historian even said he was not sure who the father was is enough to make me speculate.

  • @GGLebo23 You can't always tell by just looking at someone. LOL!

  • @Onegurrrlrev If their is ABSOLUTELY NO PROOF that his father was White, nor does he look as if their is a good probability he was half White based on his phenotype, I am going to go ahead and assume it isn't true. He was living at a time w/ extreme hatred towards Blacks and he probably wanted to make himself feel better by saying he wasn't as much as what society hated. That is just how I feel and it is probably what is real.

  • @GGLebo23 "Douglass originally stated that he was told his father was a white man, perhaps his master Aaron Anthony."

  • @CopsUrMasterAndLord And I believe someone lied to him.

  • douglass didnt believe in religion yes hes my boy see how its always the mans who rejects religion and all kinds of theocracy ends up freeing everyone else!

  • Paper on Slave and Citizen due in 72 hours....great :( I have not even started...gotta love college, but I do adore Frederick!!

  • @GrandArchitect3D

and might I point out, for the first 25 years of Douglass' life, the Republican (or Democratic-Republican) Party and the Federalist Party were the two parties. The Republican party broke down during Douglass' lifetime and was re-named the current-day Democratic Party.

  • @GrandArchitect3D and where are you getting your information from?

  • he makes us feel.proud when we see bio,s of african amarican like Fredrick douglass it lets us know how far we have come as blacks.

  • im my wonderful great school sometimes i get yelled at or sent into the hall i know it`s no biggy or when my parents yell at me or my siblings hit me i always feel so defeated and hurt but when i see and hear of people just like me but a long time age i just sometimes want to cry because of what they did for me because if it wasnt for them i wouldnt be typing this message today and i`d probably be tied up in chains some where in somebodys backyard using a my bare hands to do unimaginable things

  • THATS IT?!

ELVIS gets 4.5 minutes but Douglass gets less that 3?!

  • He's an inspiration to everyone. I need to see movies based on his life.

  • He knows how to hold his head high and fight for what he believes in. I do believe that if it wasn't for Frederick Douglass......blacks wouldn't have as many rights as they do today. Yes, they would have given them more rights down the road....but I truely do believe that he opened even more doors. Just like ebbiesart said. Frederick Douglass ROCKS!!! <3

  • Frederick Douglass is amazing!

  • 0:01 skip it

  • Fredrick Douglass did alot of work for people in the Philadelphia area on the underground railroad. I love his speeches as well.

  • I visited Mr. Douglass gravesite not long ago -- in Rochester NY. He was crucial to US history -- -without him, Lincoln does not find the resolve to do what he needed to do. Lincoln's few meetings with Douglass changed history profoundly. Douglas speeches are the work of genius. Few people today understand that Douglas was a world figure BEFORE Lincoln was elected.

  • Why is Mister the narrator?

  • @LVishere danny glover is the narrator.

  • they need to do a full bio on him this isnt enough...

  • @hrw

who is "they"?! You can do the full bio... follow the leadership example of Fred!

  • I am proud because of People like Frederick Douglass...He opened many doors for blacks. Thank you Mr. Douglass.

  • @ebbiesart He was awesome! Sadly, may blacks have closed those doors that he opened up for them and white folk are paying the price. Black on white crime is much higher then the other way around. Stop selling drugs and smoking weed black boys!

  • wow. they did not even know their own birthdates let alone their own parents. wowzer ba-bee-lol! i am proud of people like frederick douglas who were able to uplift , survive, and advance during a time of extreme destitute and unfair servitude. people like him give me pride. wow we've have come a long way and i plan to keep going afar with that passed down torch-lol-feezy feez-hafdav3000!-salutes!

  • Don't get it twisted, his case wasn't everybody's case

  • @Hafdav1999 Start reading then. You will know that.

  • @Hafdav1999 Such is call the American dream, but such are rarely realized.
