2 OF MY ALL TIME FAVORITES HAVE COME FROM SOUTHAMPTON 1 BEING DANNY WALLACE BUT MY ALL TIME FAVE FOOTBALLER AND THE GREATEST EVER PLAYER IN THE WORLD FROM ANY ERA AND THAT IS SIR MATT LE TISSIER I HAVE NO CONNECTION TO SOUTHAMPTON I LIVE IN HUDDERSFIELD AND SUPPORT LIVERPOOL I RARELY GO TO WATCH HUDDERSFIELD BUT I DID WHEN THEY DREW SOUTHAMPTON IN LEAGUE CUP I ONLY WENT TO WATCH LETISSIER AND HE DIDN'T DISSAPOINT HE SCORED 4 AND 5 IN BOTH LEGS THAT DAY I WAS A SAINTS FAN IN THE HUDDERSFIELD END
Yes, it was THE first televised match on a Friday night. Cracking goal ( yet another from a very good Saints team ). It's a shame that the early part of the build up is missing for Danny's first - I think it was started by Mark Wright at the back, who later arrived at the far stick to nod back for the mini maestro. Happy Days :-)
Was this a Friday night "live" televised game - one of the very first ones to be shown "live" on a Friday night? Southampton were awesome that season, 1983/84, finishing 2nd to Liverpool and reaching the semi-finals of the FA CUP!
