instead of playing the tritone in the end of the second bar (C with F #) , play (I put in the brackets the fingre numbers I take) F # (3) and F (1), then Eb (2) . then C (1) and then Bb (2)
All I wanted was to learn the right hand he plays in the fast part. I've been searching for an hour and trying to examine it really well... but almost no result so far... i don't get the timing. Now i feel sad... :(
Hey Jonathan. Really good stuff. love your tutorials, but i'm sorry to say, this is not at all correctly notated in the slow leaning part. It a shame, cause the one you play with the drum track is really in the pocket with the 16 triplets.
Johnathan...I love this! Didn't take long to get the first part because you broke it down slowly, but I'm having trouble continuing into the F7 part that kinda completes the groove...is there another video that slows down the second part so I can get it? i'm itching to repeat the groove it's just a little too fast to figure out! Great work, BTW
Hey all, this is Jonathon from the video. If you like these tutorials, I'm beginning to put my new ones up on my own channel. Just click my name (groovewindow) and sub, if you're interested. Otherwise, carry on!
And hey (added bonus) -- I talk a lot less in the new ones ;)
Once again, not enough teaching going on here. Experts demonstrating expertise does not equal learning. You see this in schools 98 percent of the time.
Agreed, the notation and low-speed version are wrong. Send me a personal message and I'll send you a link to a PDF of the lick he's really playing at speed. Unfortunately YouTube doesn't let me post the link here.
can anyone recommend specific finger exercises that help with this kind of music? Or should I just shut up and do the standard Hannon and Dohnanyi? On another of his videos, the funk groove in F, his Eb, A, D, F voicing in the right hand is tough and I'd like to do some exercises that will help outside of just playing the riff
The notation is way off on this one, first off it's playing twice as fast as what's written - up to speed it is a one bar phrase, not two - so the written quarter note is actually an eighth note. That first set of triplets isn't really what's going on either, there's a grace note F# flipping up to the G and then again back down to the F, everything else is wasted ink. And it'd be nice to have the voicings played for the F7. Anyway, love these videos, having a lot of fun with them
Thank you for these terrific videos. You are amazing. It is fun and enlightening to watch you put this all together and try to replicate it. Very funky job well done!
MAN that is fast! What I like about your transcription in aqua-web is that they are exact - showing where the LH helps the right hand etc. Brilliant lessons! thanks

Am I right is saying that when you play it slowed down, you missed out the first triplet.
I think the fingering is thumb in the F (5th finger in the top C),, and then the triplet is F# (2) F(thumb) Eb(2) C(thumb) ?
