  • Hello. I have a question.

Can I put these on this motherboard?

    Corsair XMS3 4GB DDR3 PC3-12800 1600MHz (2X2GB

AXP PowerSupply (PSU) 630W V. 2.20 SLI Ready

    AMD Phenom II X4 970 Black Edition 3,5GHz / 8MB / Socket AM3 (Boxed)

I would appreciate if you could give me hints of what I should buy instead?

  • @RockstarPS3- Yes...yes you can/ The ram slots take ddr3, the PSU is fine, the CPU is AM3. Your fine.

  • @EDMIX If you know anything about an Asus P5B then let me know if I can put the same stuff on this + an ASUS GeForce GTS 450?

  • @RockstarPS3 No. Its an intel version. It won't support an AMD CPU.

  • i have this board mated with a athlon ii 250 dual core over clocked to 3.450 and it runs rock solid - also upgraded the cooler to a corsair h50 and temps at idle are 22c

  • @martinhiebert respect. i would change your CPU to a quad core, there pretty cheap now. And run pretty fast, ut that depends, to your games run laggy or bad?

  • @EDMIX all the games run fast and well on the system no lag or nothing - i didnt mention either i got 4 gig of ddr 3 mushkin in it ad well

  • @EDMIX i also forgot to mention that the fact that most games on the market now are not writin` to take advantage of mutliple cores right now - ive but many systems over the years and for the games ive seen a dual core is still plenty

  • @martinhiebert Good, Good. I got quad core just for RTS, when i used to have a duel core they used to lag a bit. But your right most games haven't really took advantage of even 3 cores.

  • this is a nice MOBO I have my phrnom ii X4 965 OC to 4 GHZ and a asus 6950 1 GB ddr I just move the multiplier and the MOBO do the rest with the voltage, and it is not look that bad on my case HAF full tower.

  • @ramfery23 respect.

  • Two things I hate about this motherboard ..

    1) It only has 2 fan connectors, 1 for the cpu and 1 for a case fan. That's just silly.

    2) No mosfet heatsink, not even a tiny cheap one. They run extremely hot regardless if you're overclocking or not.

Other than that it's rock solid as usual. It is Asus after all.

  • @ooBounceDKoo I would not use the board for my fan connectors, i use my PSU. I'm adding new fans and i just got a connecter for a 4pin molex. the board does not get that hot. I have enough fans to stop that much. I feel its better t o get a board that suit your needs now and then add on with fans etc later to cool it. Having a nice heat sink is nice and all but at what price difference? I'm not paying 40 more for a better heatsink when i could just pay 12 bucks for a 140mm fan.

  • haha we have same mobo and i use phenom iix3 720, right now i just unlock to quad....

  • Ya same here. I was going to order the Asus EAH5450. but i've heard too many bad things. Decided to go with the HIS 5450. Great GPU for 50 bucks. I have the phenom II 955 OCed to 3.8ghz with this board. Deadly combo. haha well enough.

  • Hey how's it going!? I actually just ordered this same mobo. However, it said it only came with 1 SATA cable. How is this board working for you?

  • @Oreo4lifeOreo I got 2 with mine, one for the DVD and one that bent at a right angle for the HDD. That sucks man. Its been working really good, i love the look of it, the heat sink is huge and takes care of welll the heat. I recently opened all the cores on my AMD II X 4 640 CPU and it works so much better. A bunch of great features and it works really good stock. Without doing a thing to it, it will be a charm. One of my favorite Motherboards i've ever installed. Great price too

  • @Oreo4lifeOreo pairing this with a HD Radeon card and a AMD 3 or 4 core CPU gets the best performence. I built this for like 650 and it literally smokes everything i throw at it. a 75 dollar board that does everything. Some grips, No USB 3 or HDMI, if you pair it with a HD Radeon card you good with HDMI, USB 3 is not really a huge deal to me (i have E-sata on my support on my case). Runs pretty cool. I can't recommend it enough, i'm building my sister a PC later this year and i'm using Asus

  • @Oreo4lifeOreo- its working pretty fine. One of the best parts of my build so far.
