  • Hey Im trying out for the cheerleading team this year and I havent cheered in about 2 years and I really need to work on my toe touches and herkise if any of you have any tips to help me get higher and spread my legs more it would really help. Thanks!

  • @purplepandas03 hey, i cant promise you it will work but you can try, you should do a sratles in the floor for about a minute && then jump with outdoing anything ,&& when you are already ready, you do a toe touch, before you jump ,make sure you have a nice tuck, so that you can pull all your weight up, && keep your back straight, hope it helps(:

  • @purplepandas03 stretch once you wake up, and after a warm shower! then work on your actual jumps, they wont get better unless you practice practice practice!

  • @SGSoccer305 im sooooo sorry that it took me so long to respond. im such a jerk but for the hurdler you can try using the ankle weight on one ankle or you could try stretching one leg more than the other. honestly just using a trampoline ALOT will help. and for the rebound, you an stand backwards on a chair and jump as high as u can off it. or a handstand and instead of stepping out, you can spring out of it. thats how i got a high rebound :) i hope i helped. message me if u need something else

  • @reyy101 Really anywhere. I got mine from target for $7. It comes three to a pack in light, medium, and hard. They last FOREVER too. I've had mine for 2 years now.

  • To the girls asking about doing stuff with injurys... What you can do varies on your injury. If her wrist or whatever it is she broke is almost heeled then she is fine. But if it is a recent injury. She probably shouldn't do that. I've been a cheerleader for 9 years and I rcently broke 2 bones in my left hand while cheering and my doctor said not to even jump....

  • do leg kicks or place the foot that goes in front on the wall and lean forward on it and just stand there. it will make your leg stronger and it will help flexibility. for the rebound, if you have a trampoline literally just stand ton it and do straight jumps and stick each one then spring back up and do it again. if you dont have a trampoline, jump off a chair or your couch then jump back up on it with both feet. if u can do a handstand, do that butinstead of stepping out, jump out.

  • @SGSoccer305 make sure that you dont focus to much on the back leg for one. try sitting with one leg in front of you straight and the other behind you and keep the back leg bent. stretch forward until you cant go anymore to the front and hold it for about twenty seconds. do that like five times every day. then lay back onto your back leg and do it the same amoint as the other stretch. that should halep the flexibililty. then just make sure you have room to dothis but let me go to the next commen

  • @SGSoccer305 im just guessing but probably the theraband because it gives alot more resistance than the weights but you might be able to both at the same time and increase your height and strength/flexibility

  • dear roslyn. im really scared about becoming a cheerleader very soon when season starts again, do you have any advice for me? This is my first time ever cheerleading and Im pretty flexible but trying to work harder on it. It wouold be great if you could help me out! Could you also maybe ask some of your girls for advice? That would help me alot.

  • @CheerChica1345 not necessarily, it usually depends how bad the arm was broken & whether or not the cheerleader felt if she could still participate.

    but it is dangerous if she was participating in a stunt where in that case it wont only hurt her but the others around her, espicially the flyer.

    but hey it varies from gym to gym. at mine this is what we go by...some cheerleaders would rather do what they can than just sit there the whole time...

  • @xxCandilicousxx oh... im a beginner cheerleader, and my coach has told me, that you should never practice with an injury, to be safe from making it worse. But like you said, it varies in different gyms...

  • when doing kicks, i was always told to kick in front of my arm...

  • ankle weights are a great idea to get those jumps higher!

  • you dnt need ankle weights, and one little thing, in elite cheerleading you rarely do herkies, you do hurdlers

  • LOLz you don't need ankle weights. I never use them and I'm practicing jumps at cheer and we use a tumbling mat and a jump board thing :) always point your toes it will make it look better

  • never use a trampoline, you get too used to it and once you get on a floor with less spring, your jumps will be worse than initially. either do your jumps on a dead floor (wood or concrete) or a matted floor (not sprung) so the mat absorbs the strength you put into it, making you stronger
