  • I just got the Marshall c501 --- and ABY with my 1957 Vibrolux its fantastic!

And alone -- Huge... no cabinet rattle and terrific

    Yes Old School meets Marshall

  • Jason - nice and smooth playing with your esp and the Marshall. Thanks for sharing.

  • sir.. good stuff :)

  • wow,nice playing

  • Hey there - great playing! Is you Class 5 stock or has it been modified? Thanks

  • great tune, but too short!!! is there a way you could make it longer? really loving it!!

  • your video has just convinced me to buy a marshall class 5 but in a head version though!

  • Man this just sounds sexy

  • That is the best sound I've heard out of the amp. Kudos.

  • What interface/preamp/adc did you use?

  • Can you use this amp in the bedroom? I realize that it needs to be cranked but hoping that it would still sound ok at low volume and driven with a OD pedal.

  • @TheStrataminor for sure..its only 5 watts...awesome bedroom amp

  • @TheStrataminor You would definitely need an OD pedal at bedroom levels. Even a 5 watt tube amp is EXTREMELY LOUD when cranked. The combo version has a trick though. From what I understand, if you plug the headphone jack into an extension cabinet it attenuates the amp.

  • @TheStrataminor Thanks for your reply. Would you say that this is just too loud for a bedroom, where I play mainly at night for about 40mins a day?? I was going to get the head and run into a Jensen Alnico speaker...but if you think it is too loud then I might steer off it.

  • @TheStrataminor 5 watts of tubes are awfully loud for bedroom playing. And it will sound like your pedal, with the tonal flavor of the amp. It wont drive the amp unless you are playing loudly through the amp.

  • @TheStrataminor it also have a power shifterfrom 5 watts to 1 to 0.1 watt

  • @TheStrataminor

im considering this amp too, for the same purpose..just wanted to know, whats an OD pedal?

  • Can you use this amp in the bedroom?

  • your playing is so good man, better than any fast shred in the world cuz the most immportant thing is the feel, and you got it, and you kinda reminds me david gilmour

    and he's my favorite guitarist....

  • this is amazing thank you for sharing! I want a class 5 now because of this :D

  • what do you say J?

  • wow thanks for the reply.....i would really appreciate it if you could perhaps find some time to make a note of your delay settings....it has been a never ending search of mine to find such a beautiful delay..its not the make or model that is important but the settings.

what sets yours apart is how subtle the effect is yet upfront at the same time,i have some difficultydetecting the repeats at all, lovely.

you would be ending an old timers search :)

    thanks Jai

    John

  • hi nice stuff..... 2 questions if you dont mind....what are your delay settings (time and repeats and so forth) and how did you manage to recored with the delay since the CLASS 5 has no FX loop!?

    many hanks john

  • @kipsbyre hi, the delay is added in cubase recording software afterwards...I can't quite remember the settings off hand ....keep in mind that most great "recorded" guitar tones are tweaked and buttered up in the studio....this amp doesn't sound like this in the room...but the foundation of a great guitar tone is there....and thats all you need...cheers!

  • FANTASTIC!!!!! Amazing...great job!

  • it was great buddy!be well!thanks!

  • Awesome playing. How long did it take you to get that good? I started playing electric guitar a couple of weeks ago at the age of 42. I guess there is no hope reaching your level though.

  • @AruGuitar thanks man, i appreciate that. playing 25 years now....what i "try" to do is to learn something new every time i pick up the guitar....but i'm guilty of that ....that is the key to getting better though... cheers!

  • @AruGuitar Hey, man. Dont let the fact that this guy has been playing for 20 years or whatever discourage you. It's all in your hands; become a student of the instrument and there are no bounds on how quickly you can master it. Look at my channel and watch my latest guitar videos...I've been playing for a few yrs (less than 4), and more than 2 of those included working 50+ hrs/wk combined with being a full time college student, with having a 1yr old & working wife. You could be here in no time!

  • @AruGuitar Stick with it. You should definitely take lessons, though, if you aren't already. You're never too old to learn.

  • @AruGuitar r u serious?? of course you can reach this level and more ..it all depends on how much you put into it ie> if you practiced correctly (not just noodling) for at least 2 hrs per day 5 times per week i'd say if you had average learning ability you could be playing like this within a few yrs- 3 at most.. there are many great learning tools on the internet for free..good luck never say never..

  • There were no pedals used? I can hear a touch of reverb. Can that amp hold up to a drummer? I have checked out a few little amps in the past they achieve that awesome overdrive tone, but their headroom is limited. Yah, I know, but I want my cake and I want to eat it too.LOL. You sound great dude. Rock on!

  • I have a Les Paul Special (two P-90 pickups). How close will this amp get me to "Live at Leeds" on a budget? I'm not only talking about tone, but also about about the amazing dynamic sensitivity and responsiveness that the Hiwatt stack (and Pete) pulled off.

  • This is epic ! One of the best solos iv'e heard in a long time !! You are seriously kicking ass ! Keep on soloing bro !

  • What the adress of the backing track?? :) :)

  • i don't care it's a demo or not, but this is really a sweet play

    great tone!

wish the agents in my country import Marshall Class 5 asap

  • Hey dude- you are a tremendous player and your rig sounds TIGHT!

  • Very Nice !!!

  • What pedals did you put up front?.. sounds good...

  • finally, someone gets it. Sometimes less is more. Greets from Calgary :)

  • Did you put delay in front of the amp?

  • Sweet, Sweet playing and tone.......... Boy you really sing!

Are you just plugging the ESP into the marshall direct with no frills added?

  • WOW !!! LES from berlin/germany !!!

  • a class 5 in the right hands(awesome)

  • I was looking for a low wattage amp for a very small gig that I do, my blues de luxe is to loud, I thought of getting a junior but this marshall you have sounds fantastic, super playing

  • using a drive pedal at all? sounds great man!

  • Very cool man. Just stumbled across this link after watching a George Lynch vid. I see you are using his ESP 56 'strat'. You sound great.

  • i can sit and listen to you play for hours and hours.

Please release a CD so that when my wife comes to me we can listen to this together in the moonlight by the beach.

  • @distumorbenasty lol thank so much!

    cheers!

  • @jashobbsie Dont 'lol' at that.. go fucking record some songs, get out and do it

  • @distumorbenasty dude that sounded gayer than a 3 dollar bill, is your wife a man?

  • @supafly1954 why? do you want to be my wife and sit with me by the beach?

  • @distumorbenasty I knew it. No thanks.

  • One of the best solos I've heard in a very long time. Outstanding.

  • @bballhack thanks so much! cheers!

  • Nice tone and playing. Proving you don't have to shred to play great lead guitar.

  • Jason rocks !!

  • Very nice playing mate! You have a great feel and touch, and a fantastic guitar sound there. Are you using any reverb or delay, it sounds like a very expensive reverb? Also did you have the Class 5 on max volume to get that sustain? Beaitiful guitar too by the way!

  • Outstanding...very good tone ,and playing ! Way better than most on you tube.

  • Holy Sh*t! That was freaking AWESOMEE!!

  • Damn that was good man!

  • Hey man, great job on this one. This is one my favs.

  • Great sustain, what pedals are you using?

  • Why wouldn't anyone like this!

Makes me wish you had a CD- Stand aside Pink Floyd.

  • @oceanaway6 thank you sir....much appreciated.

  • @jashobbsie That was absolutely beautiful man. Very nicely phrased and a very soft touch. Way better than 1st and 2nd place IMO.

Since you have disclosed your gear already may I ask which pieces you are using for this? It would help me a lot because the current step right now in my guitar journey is getting a good sound and a nicely overdriven sound is definitely a must have.

    Thanks man

  • Anyone ever tell you that you look like the Karate Kid?

  • @thechangingstation lol...yeah i use to get that a lot when i was in my teens..funny..

wax on wax off daniel son,,,hehe

  • Great job Jason we have three things in common:

    1) Playing guitar

    2) Class 5

    3) Newfoundlanders!

    Rock on!

    J5

  • Do you still have the GL-56? How do you like it? I'm about to purchase myself one...

  • @JayDeeSG the guitar is awesome...i played a rory gallagher too...I liked the gl-56 better....it is one well made beast of a guitar...beautiful...i'll never part with it. traded my ibanez jem 7v for it....

  • @jashobbsie @jashobbsie Hey Jason, I was wandering about the capabilities of this amp for playing at a pretty small venue/practicing, with a drummer - would this be ok on its own, or would it be necessary to mic it in order to not be outdone by the drums?

    Great playing by the way!!!

    Rory.

  • @redlynx69 if you need clean tones, and loudness this amp won't do it -- but if you don't mind the crunch it gets plenty loud

  • @spiffication Okay, thanks. I was going to get this amp, but I've decided against it for the time being. I just don't think that it would be worth the money, for me.

    Rory.

  • Wonderful! Hey, are you using a mixing table to plug in to?

  • Jason. your playing is wonderfull. Very inspiring. Sorry to ask a gear question, but I need a good amp mic. What are you using? I have noticed how you just hang it over the amp. Thanks alot.

  • @mkhf580 this is because i have to blast the amp...all she can suffer...lol

Its a shure SM57 or SM 58...thats it.

    cheers!

  • moy bien

  • Great

  • Can definitely hear the Gilmour influence. Cool lead. Leaves me in a nice mood. Ahhhh! LOL - Mike

  • I love it!
