GUYS ! Hey ! What should i buy a class 5 combo or a Fender pro iii. I play everything : Black label society (metal) to jimi hendrix and other blues songs. I dont think the class 5 its good to metal but if you buy a high gain pedal like a mxr fulborre metal pedal it should play metal? And is it better with a head and cabinet or is it the same sound ? Sorry for my bad english and thank you if you reply :)
Can you use this amp in the bedroom? I realize that it needs to be cranked but hoping that it would still sound ok at low volume and driven with a OD pedal.
@TheStrataminor You would definitely need an OD pedal at bedroom levels. Even a 5 watt tube amp is EXTREMELY LOUD when cranked. The combo version has a trick though. From what I understand, if you plug the headphone jack into an extension cabinet it attenuates the amp.
@TheStrataminor Thanks for your reply. Would you say that this is just too loud for a bedroom, where I play mainly at night for about 40mins a day?? I was going to get the head and run into a Jensen Alnico speaker...but if you think it is too loud then I might steer off it.
@TheStrataminor 5 watts of tubes are awfully loud for bedroom playing. And it will sound like your pedal, with the tonal flavor of the amp. It wont drive the amp unless you are playing loudly through the amp.
your playing is so good man, better than any fast shred in the world cuz the most immportant thing is the feel, and you got it, and you kinda reminds me david gilmour
wow thanks for the reply.....i would really appreciate it if you could perhaps find some time to make a note of your delay settings....it has been a never ending search of mine to find such a beautiful delay..its not the make or model that is important but the settings.
what sets yours apart is how subtle the effect is yet upfront at the same time,i have some difficultydetecting the repeats at all, lovely.
hi nice stuff..... 2 questions if you dont mind....what are your delay settings (time and repeats and so forth) and how did you manage to recored with the delay since the CLASS 5 has no FX loop!?
@kipsbyre hi, the delay is added in cubase recording software afterwards...I can't quite remember the settings off hand ....keep in mind that most great "recorded" guitar tones are tweaked and buttered up in the studio....this amp doesn't sound like this in the room...but the foundation of a great guitar tone is there....and thats all you need...cheers!
Awesome playing. How long did it take you to get that good? I started playing electric guitar a couple of weeks ago at the age of 42. I guess there is no hope reaching your level though.
@AruGuitar thanks man, i appreciate that. playing 25 years now....what i "try" to do is to learn something new every time i pick up the guitar....but i'm guilty of that ....that is the key to getting better though... cheers!
@AruGuitar Hey, man. Dont let the fact that this guy has been playing for 20 years or whatever discourage you. It's all in your hands; become a student of the instrument and there are no bounds on how quickly you can master it. Look at my channel and watch my latest guitar videos...I've been playing for a few yrs (less than 4), and more than 2 of those included working 50+ hrs/wk combined with being a full time college student, with having a 1yr old & working wife. You could be here in no time!
@AruGuitar r u serious?? of course you can reach this level and more ..it all depends on how much you put into it ie> if you practiced correctly (not just noodling) for at least 2 hrs per day 5 times per week i'd say if you had average learning ability you could be playing like this within a few yrs- 3 at most.. there are many great learning tools on the internet for free..good luck never say never..
There were no pedals used? I can hear a touch of reverb. Can that amp hold up to a drummer? I have checked out a few little amps in the past they achieve that awesome overdrive tone, but their headroom is limited. Yah, I know, but I want my cake and I want to eat it too.LOL. You sound great dude. Rock on!
I have a Les Paul Special (two P-90 pickups). How close will this amp get me to "Live at Leeds" on a budget? I'm not only talking about tone, but also about about the amazing dynamic sensitivity and responsiveness that the Hiwatt stack (and Pete) pulled off.
I was looking for a low wattage amp for a very small gig that I do, my blues de luxe is to loud, I thought of getting a junior but this marshall you have sounds fantastic, super playing
Very nice playing mate! You have a great feel and touch, and a fantastic guitar sound there. Are you using any reverb or delay, it sounds like a very expensive reverb? Also did you have the Class 5 on max volume to get that sustain? Beaitiful guitar too by the way!
@jashobbsie That was absolutely beautiful man. Very nicely phrased and a very soft touch. Way better than 1st and 2nd place IMO.
Since you have disclosed your gear already may I ask which pieces you are using for this? It would help me a lot because the current step right now in my guitar journey is getting a good sound and a nicely overdriven sound is definitely a must have.
@JayDeeSG the guitar is awesome...i played a rory gallagher too...I liked the gl-56 better....it is one well made beast of a guitar...beautiful...i'll never part with it. traded my ibanez jem 7v for it....
@jashobbsie@jashobbsie Hey Jason, I was wandering about the capabilities of this amp for playing at a pretty small venue/practicing, with a drummer - would this be ok on its own, or would it be necessary to mic it in order to not be outdone by the drums?
@spiffication Okay, thanks. I was going to get this amp, but I've decided against it for the time being. I just don't think that it would be worth the money, for me.
Jason. your playing is wonderfull. Very inspiring. Sorry to ask a gear question, but I need a good amp mic. What are you using? I have noticed how you just hang it over the amp. Thanks alot.
You've got a great touch & feel to your playing! Very musical. Loved your entry, here...definitely one of my favorites. Best wishes with the competition. :-)
I just got the Marshall c501 --- and ABY with my 1957 Vibrolux its fantastic!
