  • not stoned,it's about speeeed

  • what an insane motherfucker. so respectable

  • this was a time .. that could never be recaptured.. seeing The Verve at this time was such an experience .. nothing came close

  • Number of minutes band were woken up prior to video being shot, 15 (maybe 20). Cost of promo for Virgin/Hut Records, prob 10 grand approx, Altitude Richard is flying at for duration of the clip, 9,000 ft roughly. Growing up with this genius band? Priceless. For buying albums there's Mastercard, for everything else there's rockstars. (Dontcha just love 'em?)

  • DANG!!! He was kinda crazy back then...

  • I don't know , I sort of liked this - I imagined the future.... Woke up with a scream .... I was buying some feelings ...From a vending machine ... Blue is all right , But Starsail was the very first thing I ever heard by them . What a magnificent way to start an LP especially as a debut LP - Peace

  • he's got a little Eddie Vedder thing going there.

  • This is why I wanna explode when I hear great music. Just tried to listen to that new shit. Lose the glasses already. Your too young to make such god-awful slop. We need the danger of "Storm In Heaven" back. Remember when we thought The Verve were going to save rock n' roll? They were the closest thing to Led Zeppelin our generation will ever experience, with the exception that ours' was not a culturally universal event like Zep. But the music was massive.

  • An anthem for the stoners. I don't do drugs, but who needs them when we've got this song?

  • my favorite Verve song. period. end of subject. i play it again and again and again while cruising for hours down the back country highways and byways.

  • the earlier stuff of the verve reminds me of LOOP for some reason

  • im a crease in the shirt that this world wears. what a fucking genius piece of lyric writing. i listen to this album all the time wishing the verve would someday return to there youthful days. but i guess richard is too busy trying to put his own name in the lights.

  • im speachless. the early verve is so underated and unknown, but its some incredible material.

a storm in heaven was top!

  • class eh!

  • Mind numbingly awesome.

  • the late 60s and early 90s created some of the most creative mind bending music

  • @talktal totally agree with you! wait, you left out the 70's too. i have always labeled the Verve as a psychedelic rock band. what you think?

  • Swerve~!! Blue!! :D :D :P

  • See the world through my dirty, lonely, mixed up, mind. What a classic tune.

  • one of the most underrated bands of all time, imo.

  • reminds me of U2 hold me thrill me kiss me, from batman forever. obviously inspired by this song.

  • That cave at the end is only 10 mins from my house!! LOVE The Verve, glad I got to see them when they re-formed, even if it was only fleeting.

  • back then they where called " verve " then verve records made them change the name so "the verve" was born..genuis........

  • Takes me back to the 1990s...what a time. This album remains one of my all time faves to this day.

  • Fantastic band. Never got the credit they deserved.

  • I completely agree with triplex808...........the best Verve song ever written!

  • The BEST Verve song ever written.

  • Richard Ashcroft = Genius:)

  • Richard Ashcroft (lead singer) would have made a perfect vampire @ movies @ that time.

  • If you like the verve check out EXIT CALM!!

  • molto bravi... anzi bravissimi grazie

  • Storm in Heaven is one of my all time favourite albums. It does my head in that no one ever acknowledges this record, it's a peach!!!!

  • oh well said, this and "all in the mind," is the reason i got in to the verve.. nothing beats this

  • I LOVE deep shit!!! depression is as strong as love...it can kick your ass...or force you to see more clearly. for me...it's my pill in life's difficult times..it give's me power of mind,as love weakens you..and blocks your sense of true judgement..

  • yes mayhem.. sometimes depression is all we have to keep us real..

  • that's pretty inspiring. I like that

  • A lot of people go on about how this song is about estacy and that may be true to a degree ... But i have yet to hear a song that speaks about depression, which Richard Ashcroft openly discussed, so poignantly.

  • oh so true, he talks openly about it, thats what most of his last solo album, was about , the much underrated, keys to the world..

  • I just this song. Strangely I didn't not at first, but it grew on me and is one of the only songs I know that talks about how depression can draw you in and be fearful at the same time. I also love Weeping Willow (not that the depressing ones are the only ones I like!). I don't know his has solo work. Is it good?

  • oh, weeping willow is my fav song.. yes is solo, work is very good, feel free to check my channel, yes, the verve, do over extend their thoughts in to their lyrics, thats why i like them so much.

  • Thank you so much for the video! Gorgeous!!!!! I subscribed and friend requested you. :D Also, another fantastic one is "So Sister", god do I love that song ...

  • oh yes, so sister is a beautiful song..

  • these were the days..amazing!!

  • Brilliant song & one hell of a trippy video. It doesn't get any better than The Verve.

  • I'm always a sucker for that crunchy guitar chord thing going on near the end......

  • I was conceived in a chrome dream

  • Ashcroft and the band on every video seem like they've done sooo much drugs! especially in slide away! btw love the verve one of the best bands EVER!

  • i adore this track, still today, after all these years..

  • agreed man, still after these years it gives me goosebumps, reminds me of my younger days, high on whatever the fuck I could get my hands on , I still enjoy this song on a long cruise having puffing away, makes me sad to think that was 16 years ago.

  • yup, and i don't have music like you had, just dreaming of how awesome it must have been back then, experiencing this song for the first time, some music is beyond drugs..loving the few good bands that are around now in my time, these guys are pioneers

  • yea , but there is good stuff if u look hard enough

  • oh yes same here, same here...

  • this is what happens when at least 2 geniuses join forces... guitarist Nick McCabe and producer John Leckie: Sheer Brilliance.

  • stoned off their t!ts but so brilliant at the same time.

  • Amazing,Pity they broke up again im just happy i got to see them live

  • Amazing!

  • I love this video its what the verve were all about in the early days so lucky to have seen them then and still hes a GENIUS

  • Jones, Salisbury, McCabe and Ashcroft, they were all geniuses

  • one more comment...whoever filmed this hit it man...hit it right on the nail!! Awesome!! Humans have been doing this for millinium...ancient rome, sumeria, brtitannia...and he caught it on film. You wonder what the festivals of old were like: this is it and it is so human! Awesome job!

  • this is the greatest song I've heard in 10 years...

  • amigo:Listen more music!!!!

  • this is the first time i heard this song in the world and i cant seem to understand it .. lol

    music is good thou

  • It is about drugs.

  • Oh ding dong, prize for the one who doesn't see my morality :)

  • he looks like the guitarist of Pink Floyd in the beginning 0:17

  • you mean sid barrett?

  • He does look like David Gilmour.

  • genial

  • Ashcroft=GOD

  • perfect

  • fantastic, total quality

  • I am so glad that i found this video!!! I love this song!

  • I love this song! In my opinion, this is thier third best song, behind Slide Away and Bittersweet Symphony.
