  • It's just bam!!

  • can u use any kind of rice or must sushi rice??

  • @cheangivan normal white rice is not sticky enough nor is it dense enough to hold anything together so if you want proper results then you should be using real japanese sushi rice

  • Swag

  • you have nice hands :) btw, nice vid. easy to understand :)

  • he's wetting his hands just to dry them.

  • seriously man, 8 years working in a sushi bar and that's how to lay the rice on the nori.... the thickness of the rice on the nori is not the same and you apply to much strength on when laying the rice. But I like the way you cut it.

  • Great video, but you could do a drinking game with how often youd ip your fingers.

  • The best video out there! Thanks so much for all the info.

  • you are a genius

  • >.< I used sweet rice and it was... awful.

Plus, I didn't have a sushi mat so it looked awkward doing it infront of my mom.

She laughed while I ate the nasty little thing.

  • Could Jasmine rice be used for sushi?

  • thank you for this... I hope I could make a neat sushi like this

  • And then lemme eat the sushi with my BLOOD ON IT

  • Is that a kamikaze bandana?

  • "the way it's rolled it's just 'BAM'"

    lol

    sidenote: excellent video!

    ...your master taught you well!

    :-)

  • yeah , this deserves a thank you man!!

  • arigatou gozaimasu

  • Thanks man, that helped a lot.

  • Does the rice have to be warm or does it have to be chilled for it to spread easier?

  • @heyitsdrei it should not be warm, but equally you shouldn't leave it in the fridge or overnight or anything as bacteria can grow. there are various ways to cool sushi rice if you google how to cook sushi rice!

(sushi chef- in my own head! haha)

  • @whale0melette no dude, you need warm rice because it's very hard to put the rice on nori when it's cold, plus you will need to apply alot of strength when laying the rice on the nori to make it spread evenly so which mean the rice will be very dense and the roll won't be tasting very nice. The rice need to warm, it's warm not hot and not wet as well.

  • @TheNakanaction I meant it shouldnt be hot (oops) you DO need to cool it for this reason, but yes it shouldn't be cold either.

  • cool vid, I just started rolling sushi last week,..starting to get it locked down but need alot practice so it perfect every tiome. will use ur presentation tip next shift and rice preading. does the rice need to be cooked a certain way to spread easy. I look forward to rolling other rolls besides alvacado and salmon rolls.

  • You make it look so easy. I hate you. Lol.

  • @TomBardacky it is quite easy! saying that i suppose some people are naturals and others need more practice.

  • your hand too much water . you make sushi for 8 yr ,wow

  • His hands has to be wet. Try making sushi with dry hands, its awful

  • I don't have the bamboo mat. What can I use as alternate?

  • too much water in your hands >_<

  • Voila! ... Haha, you are very American.

    But nice video --

Would I have to buy 'Sushi Rice' or is there a way to make it with normal ingredients?

  • the herb leaves on your shirt answers the constant gaps in between your sentences hahaha

  • what size should the seeweed be?

  • I don't care what people say about your sushi. I think you've got it dow really well (not that I'm an expert).

    GOOD JOB!

  • mmmm....

I actually made some creative sushi versions last night. god, it was sooooooo good! I love making sushi. It's like creating edible artwork.

I am a games artist, so.....

  • @Domzdream what game..ur create games or what?

  • @josh604gt

I do arcade games. At the moment. I'll be changing to making play station 3 games soon.

  • poor filling..

  • Hi I would like to know what's the name of the crab stick you guys use? Where can I get them?

  • you gotta chill out with the water man, that shit looks soggy as hell

  • @fhcrubarb its not soggy. Sticky rice is dense and obviously sticky so if your hands aren't wet the rice comes apart and sticks to everything. All he did was wet his hands and the knife, he didn't soak the rice in water.

  • thank you , i really want to learn sushi. i am beginging .can you send me a new video. thank you so much

  • whats the point of cutting it? just eat it like a hot dog :)

  • dude you need to chill out with the rice...

  • Wow! thanks so much

  • exelent !!!!!! tnks !!!!!

  • Thank You...you took the scary out of it...is the bamboo the best roller? I have seen a what looks like red rubber roller..Sushi Majik I think...

  • Man you're fuckin' good, congratulations, where did you learn to make sushi? And could you upload more videos, teaching us how to roll with the nori outside? And the ingredients of the other kinds of sushi. Thanks man, very helpful.

  • My nori seems knife proof. Maybe...are you supposed to soak it to soften it?

  • This makes me hungry!

  • How are the rolls with rice inside and rolled with the nori outside called?

  • @eck1997rock Maki.

  • wow! very informative, thanks!

  • you didnt put any seasonings or sauces on the top? thats what im most curious about - what powders and sauces to season it with...

  • @sugarstorm05 basically, the season has been put in the rice. So, you need to mix the right amount of vinegar with the rice and stir it up in thoroughly and of cause you need to cook the rice properly too, not too soft and not too hard. As for the sauce for the roll, it's best to go with wasabi, soya sauce and pickled ginger.

  • looks good i never tried it how does it taste

  • Thanks, this is very helpful !

  • nice.....

  • you were the first to explain it, and demonstrate it beautifully, and for that i am grateful, sincere thanks.... rosanna from australia

  • My man!

  • T H A N K S !!! FOR THE VIDEO :)

  • lol idk but i hate the way u make ur hand wet all the time .. >.> its like eating sushi with water ..

  • Mmmm! This made me hungry lol! Nicely demonstrated =)

  • wat kind of master tought u that

  • what kind of rice do you use? Japanese rice or just sticky rice?

  • dude are you asian?!?! nori isn't pronounced how its spelled dumbass!!!

  • @iamjamie0130 he pronounced it right. Nori-nooooh reeeeee japanese vowels are a, i, u, e, o pronounced ahhh, eeee, ohhhhh, ayyyy, oooooo so nori=noooh reeee=noooooo riiiiii=nori=のり=nori which is seaweed....so why are you calling him a dumbass?...

  • @keepthelife well it sounds different then that to me , and if he was saying it right i couldnt understand him cuz of how he talks ... no accent

  • whats the measurement of the nori for diff sushi?? Wish u can make a video about... And you have a great cutting skills Thanks!! =)

  • look it easy today I will to try to do

  • hi,do you update any videos,nice ^^

  • I liked how you slanted the sushi so it would look neat. Nice job on the demonstration. :)

  • hell yeah!

  • you use crab for sushi? i think fresh fish is better, but sounds nice too. it,s nouvelle couisine ^^

  • I've read that it's not appropriate to put wasabi on Maki rolls. Is this true?

  • Dude u wet ur hands way to much. And at the end u would wet your hands then dryed them, then wet them and then dry them and u did it a few more times, but though the sushi looks really good. I tried the water techneque and it works. So always try to keep your hands wet people never forget it.

  • That was great, you have good knife work!

  • There's never too many lessons on sushi making. I could eat sushi everyday and not get tired. Thanks.

  • dam love sushi XD

  • ahhhh...ok

  • is an special mat to do makis ? or how can i ask for ?

and also how did you cook the sea food?

    thank you very much !!!!

    greetings from México

  • sushi is mostly made out of raw seafood, but imitation crab is pretty good u can basically make sushi out of anything u want, my mom makes it with chicken for my daughter cuz she hates sea food.. haha

    Van

  • VEry GOOD! you Sushi-Rock Lol

  • Thank you and my camera got stolen so no new video anytime soon sorry fans.

  • "Pretty much"

  • vena309, it doesn't get dirty too quickly as when you make sushi a lot of the stuff you use does not have a lot of oil.

  • Can u imagine that one sushi roll is already the price of ordering one main dinner dish! That's how expensive sushi cost! After seeing ur vid I figure it's way cheaper to just buying the ingredients and rolling it myself. It's a no brainer to duplicate what u just did with simple ingredients.

  • Doesn't ur hands get contaminated already by wiping it with that dirty wet cloth? Can I ask if most sushi chefs sanitize their hands before rolling sushis?

  • nicely done! Thanks.

  • Thank you so much for you awesome help! Greets from Germany.

  • Way too much rice on the bottom. From watching, at the beginning when you spread the rice, it was thicker in some places than in others. Not bad, otherwise, though.

  • how do you make the sushi mat? I have the bamboo mat but do you just put saran wrap on the mat?

  • @metfanct just wrap it with clinch wrap.

  • Thanks so much for making this. It's the most detailed and helpful video I've found on sushi rolls yet. I especially appreciate your instructions on how to use the bamboo matt as that part seems the trickiest.

  • awesome sushi video 5/5 stars guys check out my sushi page im sure u will enjoy it kk bye

  • thats the first roll, i ever saw, which has rice on the outside :p

  • Can you make the video with out mthe mat I cant find it

  • i brought the mat i also have the seaweed where do u get the meat from? so far ive only made salmon wish i can buy this meat u used.

  • Bam!

  • I am about to attempt to make my first sushi rolls. Thank goodness for this video; I am pretty sure you saved me from near disaster!

  • Sushi Rolls With Me

  • who's having a cough attack in the background?

  • I think its my customer John Wang

  • i save a bunch of money by doing this thank u but i have to fold it with my hand i cant find 1 of those mats

  • you can cut a cereal box/thats what i did

  • YUM!!!

  • how do you get the plastic wrapping to be so tight on the bamboo mat?

  • good video i like sushi roll

  • great video! thanks for the "tutorial", you have solve some of my doubts about "rolling" the roll :)

    thanks

  • I think the key words here are "pretty much"

  • can u post a vid about how to make the sushi rolls with the cream cheese in it? that sh!t is delicious!

  • damn it now hungry for sushi

  • I agree with dennis - my rice gets stuck to my hands, to the mat, and to the spatula (when I use one).

  • Comment removed

  • hey, good video. i tried making a roll for the first time yesterday, but the rice stuck all over my fingers. I wet my hands first, but that didn't seem to help. I saw another video where they guy was wearing gloves and he rubbed his fingers with mayonaise. what's my problem homie? thanks, dennis

  • Thanks alot for taking time and teaching us newcommers this art :-D

Your videos are very inspiring and illustrates very well for a newbiechef.

I would though like to ask for another tutorial of how to cook the rice properly, for good sweet bitter taste and also the right texture.

    Thanks alot! greetings from Sweden

  • ITS JUST BAM!

    great video.

    5/5

  • I like your plate and your sauce bottles. Umm...yeah, that's all I got from your video. Are you sure you've been doing this for 8 years?

  • nice video, really helped. kinda confusing until now :P

  • so whens the hand roll vid coming along, then the rice lol

  • been busy with finals but i will have it up this week!!

  • hmm, lol thanks by the way. my rice sucks, seriously, i dont even know how much of what to put in, lol. whenever i eat too much of my sushi i feel sickk, haha

  • How about I do you a favor and in a couple week im show viewers how to make sushi rice? But first I need to post up a new video on how to make sushi handrolls :).

  • and when i roll the avocado always falls out lol

  • It could be three things. When your molding your roll, you tend to push the middle a little bit harder so the avocado slips from the ends. Try to mold the sides harder than the middle. While molding the sides, try tucking the ends at the same time. Or your not using my 3x tighting technique that I show you in the video. Or lastly, you might not have enough vinegar in your rice so the rice doesnt stick to the nori enough.

  • how can you tell when an avocado is ripe?

  • A avocado just perfectly ripe when you squeeze it and it can be pushed in softly from top, middle, and bottom of the avocado. When its not fully ripe, parts of the avocado is hard.

  • where is this nigiri sushi u speak of at the end of this video shawnson? =)

  • its in the my channel my friend. i show you how to make nigiri sushi on a different video.

  • woot 1st comment,ur so precious :P .. u got me wanting sushi now -_- lol
