  • what is this concert from? Can I buy a copy somewhere?

  • @FriendNotFoeBand Yeah. this is from "The Cars Live" DVD, it's on amazon.com.

  • very good live sound quality on this vid

  • Ben had killer voice, great writer as far as pop songs go, as we all know but often overlooked was his really cool bass style..all quirky and choppy,it fit so well with the drums. He really had a unique thumpy bass style and it's odd how it's so often overlooked.

    The Cars!

  • @spentonmediocrity

Well the cars werent a pop band, but occasionally cross genred, and this is a bit of rockabilly and power pop.

  • omg :) Ben does the most adorable little shoulder shake at 0:44 which looks even better on big screen :) lol

  • @Gina97xls That little shoulder shake is so cute and sexy......everything he does is sexy..LOL!!! And stop showing off about the big screen....LOL!!! Thanks for sharing this vid with me :)

  • Well KenDyeJr, thanks for your video and your answer to my opinion. You think RUSH is the best and I think THE CARS is the best, but both are good, right?

  • @Tico2007Tico2007 Yep they're both good but the Cars don't touch the greatest band of all time. ;-)

  • @KenDyerJr in my opinion, the Cars ARE up there with Rush... and I do have to agree with you... RUSH gives some of the best concerts ever :) Xanadu live in particular is my favorite... I am completely entranced by Geddy's voice, Neil's amazingly complex percussion (didn't he write most of their music?), and of course Alex's out of this world guitar solos...but The Cars performed tight... they were really in sync with each other and played off of each other... it's a whole different ball game...

  • @KenDyerJr Yes, I agree, the original Allman Brothers are the best band ever.

  • @fenderbassfan MORONIC STATEMENT

  • @jpavlekovich What's your problem? I was just agreeing with someone when I said said 'in my opinion' the original Allman Bothers are the best live band ever.

  • @Tico2007Tico2007 Rush is music for cosmic nerds who play dungeons and dragons and live in their parents' basements. The Cars makes music that appeals to people of all genders, races, religions and lovers of all types of music.

  • @hectorsalinasisback 100% agree. While Rush is for certain people, Cars is for everybody. Some people says Cars were bad playing live; but this video is a proof that this statement isn't true because this is totally live and they sound fresh, with practically no mistakes.

  • @hectorsalinasisback Thats because the Cars play main stream bubble gum music for the masses ....not to say its bad I love the Cars and Rush

  • The best LIVE performers ever.

  • @Tico2007Tico2007 No. RUSH is the best live band ever! ;-)

  • @KenDyerJr WRONG ! and you had special K with bananas for breakfast! The Spiders from Mars were the best.

  • great tune

  • it's so nice to see a band live (and see that they are really playing - not lip-synching)

    Thanks for posting this !!!!!!!!!!

  • i LOVE them!!

  • i love this song! hahaha so much better than other songs of this topic hahahahaha awesome, they arent the beatles cuz they have more of a reggaeish sound, almost like a ska band playede some beatles songs hahahah, anyway yeah great song guys nice!

  • u got ur nuclear boots and ur drip dry gloves?!

  • never underestimate yourself

  • the history of rock and roll is full of stories like the cars

  • Hi Were looking for Benjamin Orr fans to join us at our video page and to join our private, by invitation only group. see our video page for details on how to join!

  • memories..... thanks !

  • What's great is there is nothing today as original. I miss that era.

  • I still can't even believe that Ben Orr is dead. These guys were another band which went from playing clubs around here, to become international stars.

  • Ben Orr is dead? WOW did not know that. I had tickets to see them in Cleveland, Ohio, in the early '80's Bad ice storm wiped out the show, they rescheduled but I just got a refund. Would have liked to see them.

  • How come like every song they have like a different singer ?

  • They dont

  • Those are the same singers

  • I think the dark colored glasses sets him off.Another great and nice tune song.

  • this is so cool. thanks for posting!!!

  • This is awesome, thanks for posting.

  • Hello Ken,

Great clip! Do you know where and when this show took place? I am trying to find the bootleg. Thanks!

  • The German tv programme Musikladen sometime in 79 I think...

  • Hard to believe this was 30 years ago ! These guys were really good, and made some incredible songs. Even the hard core punk rockers I knew then could appreciate the musiscianship. Not a fan of the later stuff, but this was so big at the time.Top notch !

  • I agree this was The Cars @ their very best - however their later stuff was just to soft & sappy...........

  • This is without question is my favorite Cars song! Man can Ric write some great tunes!!! They really didn't get sappy until 84 with Heartbeat City and they got with that wack job of a producer Mutt Lange!!!

  • Haven't seen this posting, apparently no one has. That pink Jazzmaster or Jaguar is really to die for.

  • It is. It's a 74' Jazzmaster, originally painted sunburst, Ric had it repainted before the 78' tour if I'm correct.
