  • I was told that about Abe Lincoln. I used to not believe it until I thought about other syuff that helped me confirm it. I never knew the breakdowns of the revolution, but the basics of what you said. i guess I am sort of kucky. Not to mention, I know plenty of people who also have knowledge like you.

  • Don't listen to thoraxe39. You're too smart for that. ;)

  • you should run for office. your smart, calm and coolective, and your an average person.

  • You are right on that history taught in schools is stupid. I'm Canadian. Our American History classes our filled with disgusting half-truths and misinformation. I was lucky enough to a have a libertarian leaning teacher one year who brought up some of the things you don't hear about the government. Some things were just left out. I remember one note we took about the great depression described in great detail the problems creditors created but conveniently skipped any mention of the Fed.

  • Subscribed.

I knew the Revolutionary War was fought for the last two reasons you mentioned. I didn't know the British really cared about the Natives. I also learned about the various reasons for the Civil War--most of the this I learned because I had an AP class (even though I didn't pay attention much).

The family is a very interesting part of this discussion. I knew it was a marker, but I forgot about the whole extended family tradition.

  • Actually, Britain didn't really care about the natives at all. The only reason why they told the colonies to stop taking their lands was because the more land added to the colonies, the more troops you had to pay to protect them. Britain was trying to recoup war costs; they didn't need more expenses. The order to stop killing the Indian was because it would disrupt the trading of furs with them, a main source of revenue. Apparently, killing natives and stealing land is an early US foundation

  • No one cared about the natives they all wanted to slaughter and exploit my people. But Ya know Most of us just want to be left alone few ask for anything as pay back, maybe admitting they were wrong. But they wont happen they would rather toss out millions and just say sorry. I know that Black people and many want BLOOD and MONEY al sharpten wants blood and money But his people killed mine for money. I would lvoe to meet him face to face. And I do get very emotional about this

  • actually lincoln didnt right the amantipation ( spelled wrong ) it was written by someone else like a year before. And who does not know the civil war was NOT about slavery, that was something that was picked up AFTER the war had started.

  • Thanks for the clear up. :)

  • And just before or just after the civil war stated there was a discussion about shiping all the salves back to where they came from. They said it would be to costly. The war actually cost 10 times as much. I personal being a indian decent myself am not happy with what was done to my people by white and black and very few black people know that many X slaves were hired by the french in the french indian war to slaughter my people. Yes US history is not taught correctly. Nor is anyone elses.

  • You're right about that... history (or his-story, as my father likes to call it) always tends to be doctored up in order to hide sins. I did know about x slaves being hired to help kill the Indian off. I've always said that if there was really such thing as "divine justice", the American Indian would have reclaimed this land and kicked out their tormentors a long time ago. what has happened to them, and what it STILL happening, is horrendous.

  • ..and on it goes. I'll be posting a vid to this one to.

I was unaware that the British had asked the colonies to stop the westward expansion. I got more reading to do as well :)

The term you were looking for in regards to extended families is Patriarchy. It's the closest thing to an anarchic system that's been in place almost universally throughout the written history of humanity. And it doesn't even remotely mean what feminists construe it as. More in the vid(s)
