  • Thanks, you just saved my butt. I got it apart following the manufacturers directions, but I couldn't get it back together. I managed to kink the spring too. I got it reasonably straight with a needle nose pliers and got it back together. It seems to be working, but I think I'll get another spring just to be on the safe side.

  • Just about all the same. Only difference is price

  • Great video. Helped with my Papoose

  • I have a question..I have a 795 as well but I need an Allen wrench to dissamble it. Unlike on yours, it's a regular flat head screws..I wonder why I have Allen screw heads on mine?? Is this normal?

  • wow its this simple when im old enough im getting one :)

but what would you reconmend for washing the barrel ect

  • @xMrjamjam gun oil and/or cleaning kit with a small ram rod cleaner to get through the small barrel size

  • Self explanatory..love it!

  • sexiest gun

  • I have a question that is very important for me to know if I want to buy this gun and modify it. Can you reassemble it without the stock? And will it fire like that?

  • IF U TAKE UR GUN APART LIKE THIS KID YOU WILL PROBILY NEED SOME NEW PARTS LIKE SPRINGS AND GUIDE ROD

  • will a remington model 597 .22 LR 10 clip mag work w my marlin 795 ?

  • @ArtofRuin19 Nope

  • Ho Siiiiii. Dificil

  • that was so cool i have on and ever did that

  • Hey while cleaning it i kinked the spring, but i put it back together and it works fine. Should i buy a new spring before shooting it? Or will it be fine? Thanks a bunch.

  • @Fisherguy28 If it works id run it, but another spring(and screws etc) is good to have.

  • @Fisherguy28 I did the exact same thing to my spring, I got it all bent back into place and put about 75+ rounds through it and shot with out a hitch, so I think your fine to shoot

  • mmmm...k?

    lol

  • 1 person has a Ruger 10/22

  • Great gun to have, recoil spring is fragile as hell. When taking it down. I kinked mine a bit. Had to wait 2 months to a get spring from Midway USA. I'll never fuck around with bolt/action when I clean it again.

  • THANKS FOR THE VIDEO MAN! IT REALLY HELPED! I JUST BOUGHT ONE MARLIN 795 AND ITS GREAT!

  • very helpful!

  • a tip to everyone this can be done with the model 60 as well the exact same

  • Slotted head bolts? When will gun companies enter the 21st century and use something more modern and robust like allen or torx? Nothing more cringing than slotted screwdrivers stripping the slots, and inevitable slip that gouges up the gun.

  • @assoverteakettle I do prefer torx heads, but I believe they're better off sticking with standard heads.

  • @colmon9 True. Slotted has some advantages like it has a more subtle look and you can field strip it with a dime or penny. Thanks for posting the vid BTW.

  • @colmon9 Hey man i have one of these rifles and got it brand new, did u ever have problems with your bolt holding open after the last round? cause mine does not hold open sometimes, but i'm wondering if it just needs to be broken in. Thanks

  • @SkoolOfRock123 What ammo are you running?

  • @colmon9 I use the remington 550 gold pack, when i first bought the rifle it would never stay back. The most recent time I took it to the range it held back sometimes but other times it wouldn't. Idk it could be the ammo, I've probably put about 250 thru it.

  • @assoverteakettle I think the newer 795's have the allen heads now.

  • cool thanks how much would u say u have put thought it to brake it in

  • @buttfaces1992 Around 500 rounds with a good cleaning before and after.

  • @colmon9 what ammo should i shoot through when i first get my gun

  • @buttfaces1992 CCI mini-mags then anything else(except for hyper velocity/stingers)

  • @colmon9 ok thanks

  • @colmon9 does it do fine with hollow point ammo

  • Does anyone know where to get an extended mag?Great howto vid. I just bought one and bent the recoil spring trying to put it back together, but that was before I saw this video. "After a few beers" is not the time to get to know the innards of your new rifle. Got the new recoil spring put in and she works like a champ. To be safe I padded the barrel and placed it upside down in a vice so I could get the new spring and bolt in without the rest of it trying to walk around, made it much easier.

  • @aestheticsoldier Shooters Ridge is coming out with a 25 rounder sometime around April or May.

  • @colmon9 thanks for the info man! very good video too, i bought one of these a while back and it shoots great! although my marlin 795 doesnt like remington ammo, not the thunder and not the cyclone, it doesnt feed. its the ammo coz it works perfectly with winchester jacketed ammo. thanks,

  • do have to take it apart like that all the time when u clean it

  • @buttfaces1992 Usually I will, it makes it easier to clean the whole action.

  • @colmon9 ok thanks... have u ever had any problems with the gun

  • @buttfaces1992 Nope, its a great gun

  • @colmon9 cool thanks cant wait to get mine

  • @colmon9 does it do fine with bulk ammo

  • @buttfaces1992 Does great after being broken in.

  • BRILLIANTLY SIMPLISTIC!!!!!!! Just try down & together with a Savage 64 & see what you get & how long it takes!!!!!!! The upper receiver on this 795 is similar to the Ruger 10/22 which I have & am very satisfied with. I also have a Marlin 925 bold action which is very accurate & VERY VERY EASY to clean. Last but not lease is an entry level HENRY'S lever action which is smooth as silk. Great Video. THX. Sincerely, JAMES.

  • What's that long thin piece on the bottom center of the bolt carrier? Is it supposed to have some slight rattle/play? It's worrying me.

  • just saying... DO NOT EVER! use winchester "break free" bore cleaner, it will melt your trigger assembly, the safety & trigger will be melted were they rest (on or off), i found out the hard way...

  • @WEtheHOMELESS Sucks to hear that, hope you get it running again soon.

  • Great vid. I have a Marlin 795 also. I clean the barrel usually after each use, or before a use. But I have NEVER tore down and am wonderng how often should I disassemble for an extensive cleaning such as this?

  • @tbone687 Same here. It's a really reliable gun, i've put maybe 2,000 rounds through it, and never had a problem. I really don't think you would have to clean it this extensivly more than once a year, if that. You would still have to put the cleaning rod barrel first so i don't see the point unless you have a flexible cleaning rod. But then again, i'm fairly new to guns, so don't rely completly on my word. Have a great day, good shooting :-)

  • I think the problem is that its new and needs to be broken in. Go ahead and fully clean it and shoot it some more with some cci mini mags clean it again and after awhile you'll be able to shoot anything.

  • Is there an easier way to clean it? Im fairly new to guns and this was the first one i bought, I took it to the range and it jammed and the bolt got stuck open and would not break free. I was told to clean it but i had only shot maybe 40 rounds out of it, Do you think it could be the ammo that caused this? I was shooting Remmington 36GR. Hollow Points..

  • @IsSheDied I think the problem is that its new and needs to be broken in. Go ahead and fully clean it and shoot it some more with some cci mini mags clean it again and after awhile you'll be able to shoot anything.

  • Nice video. I remember the first time I tried to put mine back together I bent the hell out of the spring. I had to spend the next 5 minutes trying to bend it back into shape.

  • That carpet is CLASSIC!

  • @Lonewolf6565 Haha!, it was actually older than me.

  • i always have trouble putting the bolt back in with the spring and guide

  • @GlintWhite It helps to compress the spring on the guide rod first.

  • @colmon9 tnx for the help i took my marlin apart and oiled er up good

  • IF I WERE TO POWDERCOAT THE TRIGGER GUIDE A DIFFERENT COLOR DO YOU THINK IT WOULD BE AN ISSUE TO REASSEMBLE?

  • @cferguson131218 Trigger guide?

  • Nice video

  • Nice video I got mine last night at mills fleet farm haven't shot it yet because I live in the city have to go to a rifle range.

  • I just cleaned my 795 for the first time and put it back together the same way as in the video and now my magazine is hitting the bolt, and wont load a round. I have taken it apart and put it back together sever times and nothing. tried different magazines still hitting.

    any ideas?

  • @thepopeis1 No, but if you ask the guys at rimfire centeral im pretty sure you can get an answer.

  • @colmon9 thanks man that was a great website very helpful people I bent the ejector some how. that's what was hitting the bolt. not the mag

  • @thepopeis1 Good to hear its back in working order.

  • thanks for the video man, it was really helpful. please let me something, is there a way to deattach or unscrew the front-sight?? i'd like to know this in order to attach a suppressor. if there is a way please post a video of it can you>? thank you in advance.

  • thanks for the vid

  • Great Video. I was trying to decide on whether to purchase a Savage 64 or some "other" .22LR Rifle. It took me about 2 minutes into your video to decide on "other" as the Savage is a BITCH to do. Tell me how is the accuracy AND duribility on this rifle?? Thank You. Sincerely,d JAMES.

  • @buzzclark The accuracy is great and its quite hard to beat at its price. Durability is good except some of the plastic peaces. Get the 795 and I doubt you'll be disappointed.

  • Very good video.

I had just purchased my 795SS, and was giving it a cleaning before firing it.

I have Dewey Plastic Coated Rods. The bore brush snapped off at the screw thread.

I had 1/8" sticking out of the muzzle. Couldn't remove the brush. Video helped me to get the brush out.

I was cleaning from the muzzle end. Even with the bolt removed, I couldn't get a one piece straight rod in from the chamber end.

  • Good video! I found it easier to follow than some of the other Marlin 795 videos currently posted. In reading the Marlin instruction book, they noted that the barrel does not need frequent cleaning because modern ammo fires very cleanly. I find that hard to believe. I'll make it a habit of cleaning my guns after every range session. Hope you enjoy your 795.

  • @Bobster2364 Thanks! Glad to know it was helpful. One thing I forgot to mention was the issue with the receiver blocking the barrel when you use a straight cleaning rod.

  • @colmon9 Rods are best not used anyway. Bore-snake FTW!

  • @barccy For sure, first thing I bought for it
