There's a big difference between jobs that pay decent and shit jobs. I'm a construction worker who has drawn my fair share of unemployment compensation. I've looked for other jobs but no one is going to hire me at a third of what I make now when they know that I'll go back back to my high wage job when the economy gets better
Author is a bloodsucker exploiting the "fear" of the unemployed, and "false confidence" of the employed. Either to sell more books or to be 5 minute video filler for news "entertainment" shows having a slow news day. Unemployment is not "free" money for the non-working. You pay into it when you are working, and you get something out when you are not. Plain simple.
one factor he is forgetting, the new jobs are McJobs. you can take a serious pay cut and sit home on unemployment or take a serious pay cut and get an entry level b.s. job in less than 99weeks. i suggest working damn near anything to fill the gap in the resume. skills atrophy.
To all you 99ers who have sucked off the governments tit all your lives-do America a favour-go get a gun and shoot yourselves in the head. Good conservatives like Paul Ryan and Mitt Romney will end these handout programs to you lazy good for nothings!
sound logic but over generalization. People in 50+ age group are people with high work ethics of old time. For an example, never be late , never absent to work or give your 100% are work ethics of those 50+ age group . So they try hard everyday to find a work. What do U do when you have depleted your savings , your mortgage is bigger than home value and U have no income?
Let them work for money. I mean give SUI and let them work for money's worth. I think it is fair for everybody.
Great advice John. I love your suggestion that people spend their 99 weeks becoming an expert in something they are passionate about. As you say, if you do it right, becoming unemployed can be the best thing that ever happened to you. Excellent!
