  • I have been looking for this on YT for ages. I swear hearing the opening tune brought tears to my eyes. I absolutely loved storyteller and used to listen to them before bed. This really brings back memories, thanks so much for this...not sure where i put them all but will look now.

It's funny can't imagine trying to entertain kids these day by getting them to read and listen to stories in their leisure time....LOL.

  • the storyteller book wouldnt cost £1.95 now a days it would be more like £2.99 the first copy then go up to about £6.99 I still have the books but some of the tapes have seen better days im going to fine my tapes out and put them on my computer now ive found out how to do it.

  • I think my parents still have most of these. I am going to get them next time I visit. I turn 30 this year and just hearing that theme song totally transports me. I used to know Shortie The Satellite by heart, not to mention The Scrubs and the Dubs, Groger the Golden Ogre, The Goblin Rat, Gobbolino, etc... The list goes on. "Woe betide ye Molly Woppy!!!" Christ - it's all coming back to me. Thanks so much for posting this. It means A LOT!

  • I have both series Im keeping it for my Kids

  • I remember Gobolino, Three Bald Spots, Ford's Toy Cars, Warrior Girl ( I think it was), Aldo in Arcadia, the Tinder Box (was it called?).

  • Oh, man, I could cry listening to that tune. I remember those so vividly. I still have a couple of tapes. I wish those things were re-released.

I remember a Gobolino rhyme: "I'll send her down, the Mary Maude, and all of those on her aboard. And not a single soul can tell the way to break a witch's spell." Or soemthing to that effect. I still know the tune. The answer was "You must jump on her shadow and shout FIDDLESTICKS!" lol

  • i need some help my favorite story teller story was in volume 2 part 9 and it was about space robots but i cant for the life of me remember what its called can anyone help :))

  • @hollieconstance1 I think you're referring to Diggersaurs.

  • @jhunpineda thank you so much it was my absolute favorite :) sorry about my comment posting 3 times lol :)

  • @hollieconstance1 Shortie the Satellite?

  • I listed to these tapes for about 15 years going rup until they were all lost or broken. I just managed to find didital copies online and have placed my order ;-)

  • @ChipZilla69 Hi, where did you find digital copies? Did they have all three Christmas Story Tellers?

  • @TheDSTUART You can get Story Teller on disc at stedition.99k.org

  • if anyone has the story of the Happy Prince please put it on here!!

  • OH MY GOD THANK YOU!! when i was a child I really loved my Story teller books & tapes!! Iam now 36 & grown up but this bring back many memories!!!

  • Wonderful stuff! I've still got some story Tellers in the loft, one of these days I'll get round to converting them all to MP3. BTW I have a 1:23 version of this jingle (basically the same as this but a little longer) if anybody wants it I'll upload it to YouTube.

  • @Soopytwist I've just bought the 8th tape of this from a charity shop (a fab 10p) purely for the jingle..... if you can let me have the longer version I'd be very grateful!

    Iain

  • @leatherpuppy78 Actually I found the full version, can't remember where I got it though. Try Googling Sonoton Music Library as mentioned below and it's by Ted Atking and Alain Freanch. I played it and recorded it using Goldwave then saved it as an MP3.

  • @Soopytwist should have read the entire post I guess! I have now found the full 2:39 version and it sounds great (although it doesn't have the warmth of my 28yr old 10 pence tape! LOL)

  • OMG I'm sooo happy someone uploaded these! and this jingle, its haunting! used to listen to these all the time when I was very very young :D

  • anyone know where i could get hold of the story teller collection?. i used to have all of them on tapes but have somehow just dissapeared

  • @ Stormmine

I noticed your a fan of the Story Teller...

Let me know as i might have something you could be very interested in....

  • You can see all the original illustrations in my channel, I'm editing and uploading the whole collection (though it's the Spanish translation).

  • Is there any digital versions of this? I so want to hear the stories again!!! Please help!

  • Yes but what the HELL is the name of the piece of music, and who composed it. This is driving me mad!!!

  • Lol I don't think it's anyone we would know just a fella on a keyboard buggering about...

  • Story Teller theme is called 'Children's Carnival' by Ted Atking and Alain Freanch.

  • Yes, I tracked it down eventually to the Sonoton music library.

  • 0:26 loved the narrators voice on the lion story (was it Rory?) and I loved 0:02 too. I had the binders, all complete and Mum sold them at a bootsale.

  • what an amazing range of art styles.

they attracted some really great ilustrators :)

  • Yes, I was raised with bread and "racconta storie". I still love those stories. Only recently I realized that it wasn't an italian edition, the original one is english. When I was a child I was excited waiting for my brother coming home from school with my brand new book + cassette... I was so impatient that I searched his bag everytime!! lol :)

  • Truly magical memories from my childhood.. i have the complete 1st set and now my kids use and love them just as much - unfortunately due to age the tapes are wearing and some not working so it would be good if they did do a reissue.. on disc maybe?

  • @Lphixdj You can almost guarantee that if these were re-released they'd be really expensive. :(

  • Life was easier back then. All kids wanna do these days is play computers and watch TV. Bring it back, then all these fat little shits might actually learn a few things, like values for a start... ok rant over. Storytellers great.

  • @sbubble7819 hahahaha.....that cracked me right up! It's so, so true. Wouldn'tve dreamt of carrying on like the kids do these days, I'd be in my bedroom before Blue Peter! I'm in my early 30's and still have my treasured collection. I missed the last 3 parts as my Mum couldn't afford them, 15yrs later I found the tapes in the charity shop but they came in with no books. 3 years later I found the books in the very same charity shop. One of the most life-defining moments for me!

  • @ladyrider260 Nice one...Your very lucky to have found them. Charity shops are great for finding little gems like these though. Mine are still in my parents loft somewhere hidden amongst all the crap you get in a family loft. Probably somewhere between my old castle greyskull and starwars toys...lol. That loft has some serious shit in it. A proper Alladins cave.

  • I had the first one of the second series, don't have the book, but i still have the tape, must get it converted to mp3.

  • What? I never knew Gobbolino had more parts to it. I always just assumed that after the hobgoblin got him kicked out of the farmhouse he just went around being rejected by everyone he came across. I always thought the moral to the whole story was that if you don't fit in you never will. My cynicism started with this maxim. You mean to tell me I've been wrong all these years?

  • Gobbolino had four parts in Story Teller 1. A sequel appeared in Story Teller 2 (with five parts). Gobbolino also appeared in two of the three Christmas Story Teller editions.

  • You don't have the Christmas numbers?! There aren't in the vid.

  • This is so cool I want my kids to grow up with this too...its such a shame I can't get it....but how is the re-release effort going???

  • I LOVE STORYTELLER TAPES!

  • Get this set re-released, email Marshall Cavendish UK now! If they get enough interest, they will do it! Has already been re-released in Greece & Italy in 2008!!! :-)

  • what is the email address exactly pls? I would love to see this produced again. I got the set when I was 3 and have never forgotten it!!!

  • Love it, but I want to hear it again. I started with issue 25 and got the lot.

  • brilliant

  • covers number 7 and 23 do not correspond with ST2 collection. In fact, they're a repetition of ST1 covers.

  • que lindo!!!

es verdad.. memorias! tengo la versión en castellano incompleta... que lindo recuerdo de la infancia!!!

  • Ahhhhh, Memories. Fantastic!
