The PW's use radio waves instead of the infrared that Nikon uses. Indoors Nikon's system works great as long as you have line of sight (either directly or via bounce), outdoors, particularly in sun not so much. The PW's give you the ability to use Nikon's CLS in any conditions and when you don't have line of sight to all the flashes. When you are in an environment you don't control, other lights can set of optical trip flashes so that is another problem the PWs eliminate.
I dont get the point of this. Why I would wanna spend another 2k$ on pocketwizards, when I can do all that without them?? Removing the pocket wizards and putting all zone flashes in remote will achieve same thing.
Even more, if you dont have flashes that can react to Nikon's CLS, go to MANUAL with optic trigger FFS and adjust the output till you get the desired effect.
Yu are so awesome, I made a 2,000 purchase through B&H and 800.00 through adorama. I wanted to study everything I could and than make a purchase for all I need, I was wondering what certain functions meant and not you have solved that. Thank you again and I can't wait to upload a youtube video to show my purchases.
You are such a great teacher Mark. Clear, concise and very interactive. Not to mention the great return demonstration. Im sure a lot of people learn so much from you. Keep it up!!:-)
