Like every other country in Latin Europe which eventually broke off being called Latinos I am sure Mexico itself will also eventually stop usage as well. Do you hear any Italian in the United States refer to themselves as Latinos? No. The word Latino itself is not used much inside Mexico and is much less used then Hispano. People more often identify & use words that refer from where they are from in Mexico like Chilango for example since for the most part everyone in Mexico is Mexican.

Basically like the language of Latin the term Latino pretty much died out in Latin Europe when all countries broke off the Roman Empire and wanted to be independent. Mexico just revived the the word Latin/Latino as well as Hispano. The reason why people in Mexico were called Hispanos were because b4 Mexico was called Mexico it was called Nueva Espana or New Spain. Actually Mexico has promoted Spanish and Hispanidad better than Spain with Telenovelas and media world wide. Mexico is #1 in both.

"meztiso" in mexico refers to cultural ethnicity. all natives are counted as meztiso who do not live in rural politically autonomous communities and have at least one household member fluent in a native language.

@fmoa you dont make any sense, so you are saying if someone is mixed with black, they cant be called black?? Because in Mexico where i live, theres only about 11% native population, the rest are MIXED with LATIN with a higher LATIN percentage, the white population is about 20% or more because are getting a lot of Europeans in Mexico for work. The black population in Mexico is 2%, im an Afro-Mestizo and im proud of my black, native and white ancestry.

@fmoa in Mexico we didnt only have Aztecs and Mayans jajajajajaja Aztecs were just invaders and their territory was in Mexico City ONLY.
the real latins come from the Latin tribe of Italy, i have Italian blood also and my second last name is Angello which is a Rome last name.
and the majority of the Mexicans are mixed with "latin" blood, i live in Mexico and went to school in Mexico and talked to university professors about this subject.

@darksungeo dude, you need to study history. White Europeans came from the MIDDLE EAST and then migrated into Europe centuries ago, they also migrated into North Africa as well. and Italians came from the Aryan tribe in Persia just like all the South Europeans did.

@lookagain77 no, not really. i shouldn't have used that word in that context. what i intended to say was that the genetic allele for blond hair, blue, purple, green eyes and lack of melanin, or the in ability of a individual to absorb direct sun light and use it for energy are all GENETIC mutations, that happened several thousands of years ago. Similar to how dogs where created from wolves.
