  • anyway you do luther, he is going to sound great!!!! i love him and he is so greatly missed!!!!!! thank you for posting-it is of course different from the original but it still sounds really good!!

  • There was a remix in 1997 that I have been searching for unsuccessfully and it's not this one. It's more like the original but more beat and has some talking over the voice.

  • mm mm mm - this is nasty! Ughh hit mi!

  • luther he was just pure quality, through and through ,they only remix the best ......

  • this mix was done for Epic Records, not released on DMC. They might have done an DMC edit after it came out.

  • I am sure this remix was on a DMC (Disco mix Club) album in 1988 maybe August or September! Before it was released generally.

  • The only kind of people that don't like this mix are people that don't know how to dance!

  • It's not rare anymore - on Luther Essential Mixes

  • Fantastic!

  • All I can say is thank you. I miss Luther and to hear this brings him back.

  • When I got a copy from my friend, Gene Underwood original owner of PIME CUTS RECORDS in Hollywood, CA., I was spinning in Padadena. It was a friday afternoon when I went to get it and later on in the evening when I started at 9, I put the original mix then went into this awesome remix...needless to say, the early crowd went "bananas", rushed to the dance floor. Some customers came up to the DJ booth and asked me where they can get a copy of it. I told them it would be hard for them to find it.

  • I loooooooooooooove it..................wallah

  • An excellent remix I love finding rare remix's and Justin has ALWAYS kicked ass! Thanks for posting.

  • Wack remix.....

  • This came out on a uk 12inch rare i dont think so.

  • @KWINTER08

Yes, it was on the radio - it was the one played at the end of 1989 all of the time, also when the song was still in the charts into 1990. While the 7 inch which charted I believe was the original single from 1982 - this mix was played all of the time on the radio and in clubs.

But I think the poster may be right - I couldn't find it anywhere when I was looking for it within the last few years. I LOVED this house remix.

  • Not that rare every dj had it in 1989.

  • Gosh, I miss Luther!

    Bless ♥

  • Yes many thanks for post in fact : RARE ! ; )

  • :D es mejor el remix que la original!

  • i like this version as well as the original great to dance to never too much aye

  • wicked remix,never heard b4 until now,but itssssssssssss a v gd remix,music bk then priceless!

  • Ah, this is the remix I've been looking for! There were some really crappy remixes of old songs going around in the late 80s, but this one, for me, was one that didn't completely ruin the song. A lot of remixes had silly and unnecessary samples added, which may have been fashionable then, but they have dated badly (not that I liked them when they were new). This mix sounds as good today as it did then.

  • I love to hear this kicked up to another key and stuff.

  • I like it. It respects the original, adds some cool new vocals and isn't some crap sped up house mix, which you see all too often from lesser mixers. Sweet.

  • Not always too hip to the remixes of some classics...but this one grooves good in the zone!...Thank you for posting! * * * * * !

  • Gosh I have been listening to this song for most of my life. I have never heard this version. Thanks so much.

  • Great remix, thank you. Why did you leave the fantastic funky Bass rifs and lines out?

  • @ikkusdus - because it's a remix. a different version. the amazing original is still there forever and ever.. so is this. luther loved it, sang on it, and that's good enough for me.

  • not too many words to say. Beautiful

  • yeah i have a copy of this one and the reason its a great version of a brilliant song is that it was NEVER pissed about with TOO MUCH.

  • What a beautiful remix!!! I want this version... Please..

  • lol . 2 many haters .. & thair spectrum of music probably ranges from hannah montana 2 kanye west . tutut ! dont talk shit haterz ! .. this remix isnt as good as original or the "89" ( in my opinion) but better than any other... legends never die. long live the music of luther vandross !

  • I just hope he was able to find true love and happiness with his Mr. Right before he died.

  • Do the expressions "if it ain't broke don't fix it" or "you can't improve on perfection" mean anything to you...??

  • dj_vax more music let's talk

  • loveeeeee lutherrrr ;)

  • show some respect to everything from oldskool section

YOU CANT SAY NEGATIVE THINGS FOR THIS KIND OF MUSIC ANYMORE

    EVERYTHING ITS LEGENT

  • where is the f***** bass line ?!???

  • excellent maxi single de luther vandross avec un tres bon son

  • whoa I dig this remix :D

  • shit

  • thanks for destroying the most beautiful song by putting an messy drum machine on it

  • terrible, this remix killed the xcellent bass guitar work of marcus miller

  • nice remix but i like the original a tiny bit more

  • Man this brings me back to the days of dancing on my roller skates

  • this is a wack remix

  • 1000 kisses from you......classic music and lyrics, big up luther

  • A fantastic recording. Certainly this has been dropped from the echelon of timeless classics.

  • I love this remix....and may God rest his soul,,,, there will never be anyone as fantastic as this legendary artist

  • Funky and Danceable Killer remix of a Classic song from 1981.. His Royal Greatness at his finest even remixed Luther is so missed greatly!! RIP "His Royal Greatness*" (*Luther)

  • this is a great mix, been a great fan of luther sence he song the coke song, and song backup for dion warwick, good mix

  • I like the original a bit better. There was a sassier , more attitude and groove to the original. This has a light, breezy feeling to it. Nice attempt though.

  • brilliant

  • to clear a few things up, when i was remixing this at righttrack studios in ny, luther was in the next studio working a track for whitney houston. he popped in the studio to hear what we were doing and loved the track we did, and asked if he could add some vocals and the beginning and the end of my mix. dream come true. when he started singing to the track chills all over. he was a lovely guy. thanks for posting the mix and if i do say so myself, it still sounds damm good. justin strauss

  • wow, great story, thanks for sharing that

  • Wow, I really envy you, you didn't only talk to him, you actually worked with him. Congratulations.

    God rest him in peace.

  • I actually love this mix. It is a change frm the original but I still really like it.

  • yeah roller skating days get it got it!!! lol

  • haters this is deaf yeeee haaaa!!!!reminds me of the roller skating day Boyyyyy!!!!

  • This used to be rocked at a lot of parties back in the day. The remix had that 'just right' (bad pun on Justin Strauss, i know) pop to move the dance floor. Great song, love it.

  • SING LUTHER!!! The beginning, was that cut out of the original recording or did he go bk in the lab and lay those ad libs down? Love the voice, hate the remix tho

  • I was wondering that too... It's like version of Bad Boy (Having a Party) on The Best of Love Vol 1 comp. It's far superior to the original lp version with his backing vocalists goin' crazy with their 'he's a bad boy swingin' & 'Skidippidy-dippidy-dweee's'. Love it!

  • Don't H8

  • I own this, but must agree with Jayjsmooth

  • i prefer the original this remix doesnt do it for me, takes away the soul of the original with that 4/4 beat

    but thanks for uploading bro

  • I appreciate your comments, but I must say I disagree with you. I think the intro vocals and that passionate sound he makes during the chorus are very soulful. But I can sorta understand what you're saying, it is unusual for a soul song to have that kinda beat.

  • @soulman1989

i deeply agree with you, i appreciate much this version ! Thanks ! (Fav !)

  • I'm with Jay. The original had that funk that you can nod your head too and it just got you movin right from the jump. This version IMO just sounds too robotic in the sense of the groove / swing that original had.

For instance, if you play both versions in a club, the original by far will get the biggest ovation.

    Just my 2 cents

  • @jayjsmooth

There is no beat no tune could ever screw up Luther's vocal. His vocals are so strong and perfect a band of 2 yr old could do his music.

    Great Remix!

  • so dedicated this to my first ....

  • Fantastic love this one!!

  • Hello this is the best remix thanks for posting but any chance you could find the video for this remix it is the same as the original

  • Am officially in love. Think I've played this about 100 times already...

    Thank youuu!

  • Excellent remix!!! Thanks for posting soulman.

  • No problem. It was real hard to find so once I found it, it was comin straight on here lol
