don't know about the US but I live in Europe in a small country (Malta), it's really small. The roads aren't wide enough for two cars to pass, you can never find a place to park and I don't wanna buy a freakin' Garage for a car. The smart car seems perfect for my Country.

He didn't say a Civic was less likely to be hit, he mentioned that it wouldn't be completely crushed by an SUV, which, whether you like it or not, would happen. BTW, you're a little mixed up. A car like a Smart would be horror on the highway. Forget passing, or quickly getting up to speed. The cars performance is STRICTLY limited to the city. Anywhere else, it's not performance, it's lack of performance. That was 2006, which had a 40bhp engine. 2009/2010=70.

original mini was made by rover, BMW bought the name brand when British Leyland dissolved and created the new mini in 02. Mini's are still however made in england, however BMW's money goes into it.

a civic is as likely to be hit by a large suv as ANY other car.

another thing you forget to mention that head on colisions happen 95% of the time at 10 mph in intersections while carelesly turning.

id buy one...if it had more features...like heated leather seats nav system bluetooth...etc.

oh ps....its 70HP not 40.

in all honesty it would make a good car if you used it for all highway driving to work...and if work didnt ivolve anything large to carry.

its a NYC car.

The first gen Canadian smart was a diesel and only produced 40 HP. Heated seat are optional on the smart and an aftermarket Nav system can easily be installed.

@alextheromanian Heated leather seats are available in the next model up and the car they were showing IS 40 hp.. it's the 800cc diesel. The gas model (1000cc) is 70 hp. I use mine regularly to make deliveries to the U.S....It is identical to the one shown in this video. I managed to fit 2 full sized dehumidifiers in the back after the wife and I went to a garage sale.
