  • I am gonna by a hedge Hog right after I am done my dance competition next monh and was wondering where to buy the cage stuff I live in Calgary so I hope there is a store here that you have there!

Please get back to me because I don't want it to be unsafe or anything like that for my little guy!

And everyone check me out at TessaSawka or look me up on the Internet to see what I have won!

  • SHIT - LE ur an asshole 4 naming ur hedgehog after crap

  • umm just a question i dont own a hedge hog but i might get one soon but can you feed them hedgehog food instead cat food if not whats the reason? thank soo much this is a help ful video.

  • I didn't really understand what you used as the bedding instead of using aspen, the cloth like thing, can you please tell me what it is? Also, how often do you have to change it? Thanks in advance and thanks a lot for this video! :)

  • Your cage looks great! the plexi glass is a great idea however i dont know how well they are at climbing but could he climb on his house and climb out? if it is possible i suggest you figure out a way to "childproof" that. great ideas though! :)

  • thats such a clean house... O.o i want to live there... jk my house is a mess just by looking at the carpet. but we clean it 24/7 :3

  • Do you have any problems with your cat jumping into the cage???? I have a cat...

  • I need a heat source if I get a hedge hog but I would like to make a cage like yours... is there a way to have a heating source with a cage like yours?????

  • @ROYBOY322

just use like three more squares. put them on top and... (i dont have one yet but im doing research) and i think u just place the lamp on top faceing down so the heat goes inside... to keep the heat in, place towels on the top :) i hope this helps you

  • hey would you like to send some of the cubes you have spare to a fellow hog owner? :Pxx

  • Hey, i live in Texas also! I've been looking around for shops that sell hedgehogs, and i can't find any! Where did you get your hedgehog?

  • @lucianfrankiesmith you need to get them from breeders if you want a healthy happy hedgehog, look on preloved :)

  • ReAlly cool. Think ill pass on the meal worms though :P man i hate being in california, i want a hedgehog so bad!

  • hi, um i getting a hedgehog and i already have theses cubes, but i can not figure out how to build mine like yours, how did you do it?

  • I worry about your choice of blue buffalo cat food. You want to make sure the foods you have for the hedgies don't have fillers...

  • Another Wheel is the Wodent Wheel.. It is awesome. It is costly but you can take it apart and the wheel part lays flat for easy cleaning

  • @Twixx252 The Wodent Wheel is actually not recommended by most breeders and hedgehog experts. The stand that the Wodent Wheel is on is not sturdy and many hedgehogs have tipped it over. In addition to this, hedgies poop and pee when they run and an open wheel is preferred for ventilation purposes. (The Wodent Wheel only has small holes and is mostly closed off)

  • Shittles?

  • Am I hearing that right? His name is Shittles?

  • Are yogies good for them because i have a gerbil and he loves them but if you dont know what they are they are little yogert treats made for hamster gerbil and rat

  • so you dont haft to refridgearate mealworms?

  • Wonderful mother you are <3

  • thats one awesome cage i'm really thinking of getting a hedgehog

  • @shelobe Hi im in Texas too, Dallas, and I was wondering about the heating part. My house during the summer, spring, and fall is always in the 70s but during winter nights it can drop below that. i was wondering what you would recommend for that. also i don't remember hearing this in your video but where did you get your wheel?

  • hey where did you get your hedge hog? I live in tx is there a breader somwhere or what? thanks

  • GREAT video! very informative!

  • i have a normal human heating pad is that ok?

  • Shouldnt you have a cover on those meal worms? 0.0

  • Um that cage doesnt look so stable!

  • lol you said chloroplast wich in cells instead of coroplast

  • i love how fill-in-the-blank these ads are. its fucking hilarious! for example: Action Figures for All Ages. Save On Hedgehog Care!, Find care video Online. Free Shipping $50 on 100,000 Items!, and care video Online. Shop Target.com.

  • where do u get hedgehogs from? and how much money?

  • the cat doesnt try to eat the hedgehog or something?

  • I looked at target and walmart can't find any :(. I'd send you money if you can send me a couple packs

  • is Shittles still alive?

(no, im not saying that this is a bad video because its really good.. i'm just asking since this was 2 years ago)

  • Can you feed em dog food

  • im planing on finding a new home for my pigs and getting a hedgie i find now and go (canadian made food) is great my cat loves his food and its made with natural ingredients no artificial real meat is the first ingrediant and then its fruit and veg its wonderful!! it does wonders for my cat next thing to get is teh hedgie its the only thing im missing i even have c&c cages from my pigs

  • @kemanchie poor guinea pigs! you cant get rid of one animal for another animal.. very irresponsible..

  • @gagajakee111 excuse me why are you jumping to conclusions of thats why im find a new home for my pigs i cannot afford them anymore adn they are toom high matinence they are also older they have a wonderful home now i just cant take care of them anymore so geting a new home for them is helthier than leaveing them in the cage all day because i have no time for them if i had a pet that is nocternal it would be easyier and buying hay fleece pellets chews deoderizers ect is way too exspensive now

  • @kemanchie im sorry if i have offended you, and if you cant afford guinea pigs then dont even think about hedgehogs, they cost around £100-£150. Also hedgehogs are also high maintenance! just because they are nocturnal does not mean there easier. you have to socialise with a hedgehog everyday also, so it would just be as bad as the guinea pigs.every animal needs lots of care and if you havnt got the time.. why have them.. the animal will suffer x

  • @gagajakee111 you do reolize guinea pigs sleep at night and im gone all day??? so holding and playign adn cleaning it wont be that bad

  • @shelobe, when you buy the cubes, do the connectors come wit them?

  • do you HAVE to mix cat food? or can you just give them one kinnd?

  • Is is true that hedgehogs do not like noise/commotion

  • Where did u get the plexiglass??

  • this is wonderful! thanks so much for posting this :) just gotta hedgehog two days ago and this is definitely what ill be doing, perfect size too! thanks again!

  • What are the dimensions of "Shittle" 's cage? lengthxwidthxheight

  • Thank you so much for posting this. I'm going to become a hedgehog mommy, but I'm taking a few months, first, to set up a good environment, and learn all I can. This video, and all of the tips, were great. You have really put a lot of thought into everything. I wasn't too sure about the cat food part, but your explanation makes perfect sense, and it sounds like a decent diet after all. I love how much you love your hedgie. It's a lucky baby!

  • Could you tell me how large your cage is inside? I'm looking at getting one that's about 7.5 square feet of space inside but I'm having trouble picturing it in my head and I'm not certain if it will be large enough, or perhaps even too large for one little hedgie.

  • i read that cat food wasn't good for hedgehogs and that you should get hedgehog specialty food.

  • @shelobe, how much did the ferret crinkly tube thing cost?

  • I'm curious how you put together the plexiglass for the bottom of the cage?

  • How much was your hedgehog?!!?!?!? please answer

  • Comment removed

  • hi, i really like this cage and im planning on getting a baby african pygmy hedgehog. but hes a baby and i think this cage is too big???? im not sure i might use this cage when he gets bigger... any answer??

  • where can you buy a hedgehog??

  • i so want a hedgehog now! and how much does a hedgehog cost???

  • i like the vid but are u sure they dont need a substrate they can burrow in

  • Hey it's me again I was just wondering how much you paid for your hedgehog, and where you bought it, because i live in Texas too.

  • Hello... I was wondering where you got the heating pad from and how much...because I was looking on amazon and they were like $230..

    Thanks!!

  • @LabsLovePrettyNails I already had mine laying around the house, I know you can find them cheaper than that though.

  • @shelobe

omg this IS THE BEST video for hedgehog care on youtube!!! i learned so much from this video!!!thank you so much!!! :))))))

  • @shelobe whats the hight, length, and whith of the cage??? PLEASE REPLY

  • @LabsLovePrettyNails you can get them at petco or petsmart for only like 15 or 20 dollars

  • This is awesome! Im getting a hedgehog in about two weeks and still havent finished all of my research, this is extremely helpful, thank you!

  • My question is where did you get that cage. I am thinking of getting one and i wanted it to be happy and have a spacious spot. PLease reply and thanks!

  • @MarshMallowTimeTime She said in the video that she made it. It's made out of storage cubes that you can buy at walmart and plexiglass. Look up C&C cages for more instructions.

  • @JackieMackk OMG, thx!

  • why the heck would you name a hedgehog who you love so much shittle?

  • is it ok to use a flying saucer wheel?

  • @reconnectedJBieberxx Flying saucer wheels are okay, but you need to get the largest size and only if your hedgehog is not too large. Just keep in mind since they do poop and pee while running, it will fling everywhere off of the saucer.

  • @JackieMackk Thanks for helping out Jackie :D

  • what glass did u use

  • @TheGogopokemon It's plexiglass

  • SHITTTILES LOOL

  • she looks just like my hedgie willow!!!

  • i liv in houston texas .are hedgehogs legal here ?? and where could i get one like what store and about how much do they cost?

  • @sammy121299 They are perfectly legal in Texas. You generally don't want to get a hedgehog from a pet store. Most reputable breeders will not sell to a pet store because their care tips aren't the best. Also, when you buy from a pet store, you're unsure of the genetics so they could have problems later down the line. I don't have one yet, but I've seen the average price around $150.

  • This is such a helpful video thanks!:)

  • Where can you get that storage cage??

  • i LOVE the cage setup you have. i'm so interested in getting a hedgehog and that seems perfect. i was wondering if you have any info on the cage, like where you bought it or who manufactures it. If i could get a response it'd be soo helpful :) thank you!

  • haha i see the hedgehog in the igloo xx

  • Good video! I have a question where did you get the materials to make the cage?

  • damn your cage is badass. I'm going out and buying those cage things today

    thanks for the video

  • This is a great video, I hoping to get a hedgehog soon. I need to convince my parents. Where did you get your hedgehog? I've heard you should buy from a breeder and not a pet store but I don't think there are any breeders in my area.

  • i saw a accidental video of a hedgehog without even wanting to see it a pure coincidence & now im going to buy one im in the process of buying this is the best video soo far ive seen thank you @shelobe

  • where do i find the plexi glass?

  • @animallover441 no not petco read abot them

  • im planning on getting a hedgehog but what happens if your hedggie tries or is hibernating

  • Also where did you get ur plexiglass and what is the size you ordered I'd love for u to help me out

  • Is plexiglass pricey?

  • hey i live in texas too and i really want a hedgehog i have looked up so many care videos and my local pet store sells them but they are running out where should i get one?

  • Thank you soo much!! it isvery helpful

  • really.. you named him shittle?

  • Comment removed

  • If you really want him to be happy, get him a girlfriend.

  • @Cosmodot256 they are solitary and live better by themselves

  • I love your video, like you I get angry when I see people not caring for their pets correctly. A pets life should be for their enjoyment not just ours and when your pet is happy you get so much more enjoyment as a parent.

  • @CritterNook Thanks :D

  • SHITTLES >:D Can I steal that epic name for my new hedgey? :)

  • @elizahuman Of course!

  • @shelobe Can i have anal with my hedgey?

  • can i wake up my hedgie at daytime?

  • @TheIcantwriteshow I've read that you can, but you should only do it once or twice, and at dawn or dusk. Otherwise it can mess up their internal clocks.

  • @TheIcantwriteshow Yep, he may be cranky though.

  • its bad to have a water bottle cuz when the water gets warm a little bit of the plastic gets in the water and its bad for you to drink out of it and then it will be the same for your hedgehog.

  • sonic! :)

  • Hey quick question. I have had my hedgie Kojo for about a month, and he likes to burrow under the fleece liner. He goes under the liner and in his house are the same time. Is there anyway to get him to sleep on top of the liner? Or should I just let him be. Also, I think you should upload more hedgie videos:D

  • @whattheheckshotstuff Shittles does the same thing, it messes it up but I just let him sleep under it. I haven't had any luck trying to get him to stop.

  • @shelobe What I have been doing to keep down the liner i i have just been putting tape all around the sides so he cant get under.

  • @whattheheckshotstuff You could try attaching the liner to the bottom of the cage with Velcro strips.

  • i am just wondering if your hedgehog sleeps the entire winter...

  • @TheIcantwriteshow No they can not sleep in winter as pet's if you see your's sleeping it means it is freezing so put it under your shirt for body heat

  • @TheIcantwriteshow Nope they do not.

  • your hedge hogs name is close to what im gonna name mine when i get him/her sittles and sniffels lol

  • rofl shittles i love that! xD

  • Can he get fleece caught on his leg? I'd like to use fleece for a hedgehog, but I don't want loose thread to get around his leg and for it to have to be amputated

    Thanks for the informative video!

  • @Noimnotthatguy Just make sure you get the non-pilling fleece. I never had a problem with him getting caught.

  • @shelobe Thanks for the quick reply and the advice!

Also, what about when the hedgehog goes to the bathroom on the fleece, what do you do? Throw it in the washer, and put a new sheet down? How often do you find that happens?

  • @Noimnotthatguy He goes all the time on it. Sadly, when he poops on the wheel, it spins out a lot onto the fleece. I have different fleece to put down so I'll wash the dirty one and put the new one down. He can shit it up pretty quickly. I change the fleece about every 4 days.

  • This is seriously the most informative video I've seen yet. :) Thanks so much for posting!

  • @DunpealChild Thanks for the feedback :D

  • I think everyone needs to realize what you said. "If I own an animal, I'm going to treat it right."

  • @MsSteelersFan21 That's what I'm trying to get across :)

  • this is the best video ever!

  • @rissareid13 Thanks!

  • how big is ur cage and how much was it?

  • @AJSlegos123 I am at work atm and I forget how big it is but it cost me about 60 all together.

  • how do you give hedgehogs "baths"

  • @RainbowCookiess I keep wanting to make a video on it but I put him in shallow warm water and use a toothbrush to clean his quills.

  • were can you get plexi glass how much is it? thank you so much fo this video though

  • @RainbowCookiess It can be pretty expensive but I got mine for cheap because it was leftover at Home Depot.

  • @shelobethanks :D one more thing how did you attach it to the cage just using clips?

  • @RainbowCookiess I used wire ties to attach them to the actual cage. It's a pain in the ass to drill holes in the plexiglass though.

  • Comment removed

  • storage systems from walmart for a cage. clever! I will keep that in mind! haha

  • also instead of clipping my hedgies nails. i just put a finer sandpaper on a ramp in his cage using nontoxic adhesive to attach it. using sandpaper helps keep his nails short and that way i dont have to worry about him twitching while im trimming his nails and accidentally cutting a toe off :\

  • wait. his name is SHITTLES !! I THINK I LOVE YOU

  • @Mr15flapjack Haha

  • @hermiesquishydance It depends, normally they don't like having other, especially the same sex. You don't want to put a female and male together because you'll end up with babies. They can get along though, you just have to be really careful.

  • @ThaSexyTractor Thanks!!!

  • thats an amazing set up!

  • @MegaRebornLover Thanks :D

  • Go Texas!!!!!!!

  • Where do you buy a heating pad, I am getting a hedgehog soon and just in

case it trys to go into hibernation. Great video btw :D

  • @MrZombieKitteh I believe you can go to any store and pick one up. Petsmart has specialty ones.

  • how much was the hedgehog and wnere did u get it?

  • @largepandabutt Mine was around 80 and I looked up breeders in my area.

  • how big is your cage?

  • DO hedgehogs have to hibernate

  • What is that clear stuff called you put around the outside?

  • Shittles?

    I love it!!

  • I was recently told that cat food is bad for them, is that true?

  • Wow Great HedgeHog Cage:)

  • @popprincess502 I do know the beetles can fly but rarely do they actually fly. I've been keeping my beetles/mealworms uncovered for a year now and have not had one issue with them escaping.

  • @popprincess502 I just tried it and it worked fine.

  • I'm not assuming the plexiglass comes with the bin setup? Where did you purchase it?

  • @KillerQueen11 I purchased it from Lowes.

  • lol, "shittle" classic....

  • That cage thing isn't appearing on walmart or targets website?? :(

What is the exact name of it? The cage I have now that came with the hedgehog isn't that big. Wouldn't mind rippin off your layout. Actual cages are just so expensive/not much bigger than what I have now

  • @hypermetalsonic I'm sure you can find them online, I believe they are just called grid shelving. They might be more expensive online but overall, still cheaper than buying an actual cage that big.

  • @hypermetalsonic Yah sorry, that is where I got mine. I am sure can find them on the net. Just trying searching grid shelving.

  • @shelobe No prob! Managed to pick one up from Bath and Beyond like ThaSexyTractor suggested. Thanks for this vid though!! Just upgraded my Hedgehogs cage to this :)

  • thanks so much my hedgehog almost went into hibernation

  • @71Dabest <3
