I actually know Micheal Dell. I have been to his home in Austin. He seems like a very nice guy. He also gives ALOT to various charities. I think he owns about seven factories in the Austin area and two in Tennessee. I totally disagree with his decision to build certain electronic components over seas. And if businensses fail the government should take them over TEMPORARILY. It happens occasionally in free market societies. And yes, that's one way of keeping people employed in the short term.

Keep government out and patiently wait for the market to shed the weak companies and let the strong companies take their place. @LegionSociety You have to consider that 80-90% of consumers already have health insurance through their jobs. The remainder MAY or MAY NOT decide to buy a public plan if it looks decent to them. The hundred billion dollars a year for ten years of taxes is for the transition and will only be paid by those making over a quarter of a million dollars a year. After ten years the system will sustain itself through the premiums paid by it's consumers. Sounds a bit like capitalism to me.

@MrTabby5000 I think we're paying for you guys. The top tax rate in the 60s was 70%. Now it's 24% and not only are our budgets not being met but we are going into debt. This means that EVERYBODY including the middle class has to pay a portion of the interest when we pay our taxes. So by not collecting enough taxes from the rich to operate our gov't the middle class gets the extra burden of paying interest on loans for things that the rich benefit from. The budget should be balanced.Tax the rich.
Sorry. I think the top tax rate may be 35% but still. It was 50% in the Reagan Days. It was 91% in the Eisenhower days during WWII. That was also when Social Security was expanded and construction of the freeway system began. It was also government spending that helped to get us out of the great depression.

@SocialistDemokrat Healthcare costs have been rising three times faster than the income rate. More and more employers are unable to provide it because it is too expensive. Part of the reason in the rise in costs is because of all the uninsured people that stroll through the hospital with no way of paying. When that happens, everyone picks up part of the tab.
Then those people end up on Medicare and we pay for their insurance for the rest of their lives. It's better to have everyone covered.
@brothermikefan, the real beneficiaries of this far-left radical health bill are the private insurance companies who will be getting 50 million new consumers, subsidized by U.S. taxpayers. While millions of Americans will decide to pay a penalty instead of buying insurance, those that do obtain subsidized insurance will still often be unable to obtain the medical services they need due to high deductibles, limited coverage and denials by insurance companies and govt bureaucrats.
A single payer plan? WTF, Social Security is essentially bankrupt. Medicare will soon be bankrupt. So will Medicaid. These programs dont save money instead, lose a lot of it because of the amount of fraud. Canada, the United Kingdom, and even Sweden are slowly moving away from public systems of health care and allowing the private sector to take over. In each of these countries, particularly Canada, their single-payer systems have been disasters.

I think it's a ridiculous bill, they compromised on everything and the Republicans are still playing politics. Obama should have stood up to Lieberman, Nelson, Landrieu, Lincoln, and the Republicans and said we're gonna do it the traditional way before the filibuster became commonplace (which was when the Republicans became the minority): reconciliation. They might have even been able to do single payer in the Senate.

I actually know Micheal Dell. I have been to his home in Austin. He seems like a very nice guy. He also gives ALOT to various charities. I think he owns about seven factories in the Austin area and two in Tennessee. I totally disagree with his decision to build certain electronic components over seas. And if businensses fail the government should take them over TEMPORARILY. It happens occasionally in free market societies. And yes, that's one way of keeping people employed in the short term.
Now, do you have any non-govt solutions?

Keep government out and patiently wait for the market to shed the weak companies and let the strong companies take their place. The problem with that is while we're waiting we may end up shedding a lot of the weak from our population.

Doctors Without Borders or "Médecins Sans Frontières" was started by the Fench. The only ones involved with that are Amsterdam, Barcelona, Brussels, Geneva and Paris.
We (the gov't) do provide aid to other countries but private insurance compaines don't.

@LegionSociety You have to consider that 80-90% of consumers already have health insurance through their jobs. The remainder MAY or MAY NOT decide to buy a public plan if it looks decent to them. The hundred billion dollars a year for ten years of taxes is for the transition and will only be paid by those making over a quarter of a million dollars a year. After ten years the system will sustain itself through the premiums paid by it's consumers. Sounds a bit like capitalism to me.

@MrTabby5000 I think we're paying for you guys. The top tax rate in the 60s was 70%. Now it's 24% and not only are our budgets not being met but we are going into debt. This means that EVERYBODY including the middle class has to pay a portion of the interest when we pay our taxes. So by not collecting enough taxes from the rich to operate our gov't the middle class gets the extra burden of paying interest on loans for things that the rich benefit from. The budget should be balanced.Tax the rich.

Sorry. I think the top tax rate may be 35% but still. It was 50% in the Reagan Days. It was 91% in the Eisenhower days during WWII. That was also when Social Security was expanded and construction of the freeway system began. It was also government spending that helped to get us out of the great depression.

What I'm saying is... Americans have created a culture that include woman and incorporate these ideals into our nation. But the rest of the world is probing those points as a weakness, while other American men stand as non serving objecting women (that being my opinion). @crmartinez001 Dude. Nothing is free. Including the public option. 80-90% of consumers have health insurance through their jobs. The other 10-20% may or may not decide to PURCHASE a plan offered through the public option. It's not fucking free. The taxes that people making over a quarter of a million dollars a year will pay are for the transition and will be over with in ten years.
The only ones to get free insurance are poor people, old people, vets, and the families of vets; just like now.

The truth is that the federal govt and the Democrats welfare state is on a fast track towards bankruptcy or insolvency. The only question remains how much of the wealth of this country, and the private sector, Obama and his progressive liberals can absorb into the federal government morass to take down with it. This apparently is Obamas plan in moving a private health care system that works, and that does not create structural deficits, into the public sector.

@SocialistDemokrat Healthcare costs have been rising three times faster than the income rate. More and more employers are unable to provide it because it is too expensive. Part of the reason in the rise in costs is because of all the uninsured people that stroll through the hospital with no way of paying. When that happens, everyone picks up part of the tab.
Then those people end up on Medicare and we pay for their insurance for the rest of their lives. It's better to have everyone covered.

@brothermikefan, the real beneficiaries of this far-left radical health bill are the private insurance companies who will be getting 50 million new consumers, subsidized by U.S. taxpayers. While millions of Americans will decide to pay a penalty instead of buying insurance, those that do obtain subsidized insurance will still often be unable to obtain the medical services they need due to high deductibles, limited coverage and denials by insurance companies and govt bureaucrats.

A single payer plan? WTF, Social Security is essentially bankrupt. Medicare will soon be bankrupt. So will Medicaid. These programs dont save money instead, lose a lot of it because of the amount of fraud. Canada, the United Kingdom, and even Sweden are slowly moving away from public systems of health care and allowing the private sector to take over. In each of these countries, particularly Canada, their single-payer systems have been disasters.
This expansion of govt has to stop.
