  • Heard from the WJJF site that Prof. Clark sadly died earlier this month.

  • Beryl has been asking everyone to kindly not post his death as members of his family are on holiday and cannot be contacted but it seems to be everywhere now RIP Prof Clark !

  • @mashamorgan My apologies. The news is circulating fast on Facebook and I was unaware some of the family hadn't been told yet.

  • @Kopp203 no problem Kopp as you say the sad news is circulating fast we had posted on Facebook but were told to remove our condolences to Beryl and Bob's family but I'm sure all of his family know by now anyway. I inboxed Ronnie Colwell to let him know why we were told to delete our comments as the majority of people didnt understand the reason why. regards !

  • R.I.P. Soke R.Clark

  • Firstly, Thanks for posting such a great rare old video. It has some great content and im gonna play this to me Sensei at training this w/end.

Secondly, i have run it through some software and cleand 80% of the hiss. Do you think i should re-upload it or would you like a link for it anybody??

Best Regards and keep these beauties comin'! :)

  • Thank you for sharing this video.

  • I think this is very good Jujutsu. I just don't like the every now and then Karate blocks. Hes basically stopping the energy of his opponent instead of yielding to it.

  • @BlackShinobiShozoku Karate is from Ju-Jitsu, its the Kata's Judo is from JuJitsu its the throws.

  • @minetehe Karate is from Okinawa Sir.

  • @BlackShinobiShozoku It may be from there BUT it's still developed from Jujitsu (which was developed over 2000 years ago)

  • @minetehe To my knowledge, which I am pretty versed in Japanese martial arts.

Karate is developed from Okinawa and was actually banned by Japanese when they took over Okinawa. Jujutsu is largely developed and was used by Samurai. Thus an art like Karate would not be beneficial to Samurai who were merely looking for unarmed situations on a battlefield(which Armour was being worn). So since Karate is from Okinawa its origin is not form Jujutsu which is from Japan. -Continued

  • @minetehe -continuation now karate styles like "Wado Ryu Karate" have incorporated Jujutsu techniques to an extent. But Karate is/was purely a civilian martial art. Not taking anything away from Karate. Just clearing up that it isn't originated from Japan, but from Okinawa before Japanese took over.

  • utubesqueeze .YOU ARE SO VERY WRONG...IT SEEMS LIKE YOU TOOK MARTIAL ARTS TRAINING AND REMAINED A WHITE BELT FOR 10 YEARS THEN DECIDED TO CRITICISED OTHER ARTS AND FEDERATION. COME BACK IN ANOTHER 10YEARS WHEN YOU HAVE GOT YOUR NEXT BELT....

  • @slouttop fun fact #1. the most famous swedish aikido guy never took a grade, he was handet it from the hombu dojo because of his skill, he didnt want it so he dident take it before the hombu dojo thretned him that if he didnt take it, he would get bannd from hombu dojo.

  • @slouttop i forgot. he went from 12kyu and was handed 1 dan

  • UK: Judo > BJJ > The Jitsu Foundation > * > WJJF.

I'd keep well away from arts with no clean heritage from Japan. WJJF is one such art.

In addition, if you are not an old person, i.e. 40 or more, then you're always better of doing an art with active/resisting opponents such as Judo, BJJ, Karate, even boxing.

Passive or semi-passive arts (which tend to be self-defense oriented), will not use your body to your full potential and you will not retain strong muscle memory and understanding.

  • @utubesqueeze Judo is failed Jujitsu BJJ is failed Judo.

  • i think the ju jitsu style here is juka ryu..just gone back on the matt after a 16 yr break..got my shodan in 1995 under proff clarke and alan campbell..training now back at my old club but now total self defence..same syllabus less politics

  • the techniques from 0:16:36 the front chokes are from red belt to white belt Japanese ju jitsu got my grading soon need to ace these ! :D

  • very good stuff,nice

  • japan or not its effective. most of all its direct no fooling around with fancy moves like aikido.

  • Mr Clark is truly a great teacher thank you sir.

  • awsm awsm awsm

  • This video takes me way back! I used to train under Alan Campbell (Prof. Clark's Assistant in the video) back in the 80's and early 90's. Think I've still got the VHS copy of this video, but kudos to the uploader....

  • @JayeSwiss

I also trained under the WJJF with R. Clark and John Steadman . Alan Cambell was at the time the Shogun in the WJJF Display Team ,awesome Guy, I later Followed the Path of Nipon Di Budo-Ki with Dave Hodson from Manchester, a good friend of Roberts .

As a self defence Art (as what Ju-Jitsu ) is . It has held me in good stead Happy Days

p.s. Video and Manual still intact ....

  • WJJF ju-jitsu is an eclectic art derived from wrestling, karate, okinawan kobudo, early british combatives. It is not sourced from any particular origional Japanese ryu. It is more properly categorized as western gendai budo

  • @teppeikai1928 Karate is from Jujitsu. Same with Judo

  • I got my Junior Black today :)

  • awesome video, i train robert clarks jiu jitsu and currently i;m a brown belt . his videos are kinda hard to find. is there any way to put this on a disc?

  • @MrSabian666 yees

  • atube catcher

  • @MrSabian666 you can also get real player and use it to download the stream as a flv file. Than you can use a video converter program like prism or videopad to convert the flv file into a avi file or something

  • @MrSabian666 Could you help me possibly, you see I train in the same organisation but no one has actually explained to me what style this is. Do you know?

  • @ThatMartialArtist I really don´t know. I believe there´s some connection to Hontai Yoshin Ryu but that´s about all I know about it.

  • @ThatMartialArtist

Robert Clark learnt from Soke Blundell - The style Is Juko Ryu

  • @MrSabian666

Sadly, Soke Clarke passed away on the 09/02/12. So ends an era in british JuJitsu.
