Haters haters haters... 22 dicky chick. I imagine u a broken wannabe country star that never made it... Don't hate on Carrie cuz she's a true talented individual...
Carrie's accomplishments since her Opry induction 2 years ago has been many, and I hope have won some people over as to whether or not she belongs in the Opry.
Carrie has won 6 times female vocalist of the year (3 CMA, 3 ACM), twice EOTY, 5 Grammys, sold over 11 million albums, has 12 #1 songs. How many artists can equate or surpass ANY of these numbers?
Length of career doesn't determine a HOFer, its accomplishments.
I agree that there is people that are deserving as well. She has done ALOT since she has been on the scene.......Miranda LamBert? Your joking right? She has sang the "Pop" country right along side everyone else. If you want to call that 'Real Country" The real country of George, Merle, Johnny,Tammy,Loretta, i'm sorry to say is slowly going by the way side. JJohnson I can agree with, he is one of the good ones, and there are still many.
@adcnortty Miranda Lambert is the only one now a days that is country. Do you know anything about her? Obviously not. Carrie Underwood SUCKS. She became famous from American Idol because she didn't wanna have to work for sucsess.
@22dixiechick are you serious? watch her american idol audition. you tell me where she came from. she was born and raised on a farm. a few of miranda's songs arent to "country" either. i hate to admit it and i love good old country more then anything but country is slowly but surely evolving with the rest of music, i love jason aldean, but half of his music is rock n roll with a bit of twang in there, nevermind there song he just covered "dirt road anthem" its half rap.
@haynzer55 Yes hun, I am serious. Just cause she lived on a farm doesn't mean she's Country. Name one Miranda song that "isn't Country." Yes Country Music is changing but it can still stay Country, I mean even back then there has been Country and pop-country, like Crystal Gayle. And some Country now a days is more Southern Rock but it's still more Country than Taylor Swift, Keith Urban, Rascal Flatts, and. "Dirt Road Anthem" is a Colt Ford song and God knows what he is, but it's better than pop.
@22dixiechick carrie is real good lookin, thats gotta count for somthin. ya colt ford n brantley gilbert originally. ill let ya have this one, takes me 40 minutes to type a couple letters, yal know the i finger typin kind. keep it southern

Becoming a member of the Opry has nothing to do with how long you have been singing - Alison Kraus was inducted at age 21, 1st you have to want to be a member , it's a committment alot of artist aren't willing to make - you basically work for free to continue the legacy of country music - like Vince Gill says they call him up to fill in for last minute cancellations - Carrie is hardworking and has already made the Opry proud of her - she's performing on the Opry Jul 25th !!

Carrie does so much for the Country scene any pig who dosnt think she deserves to be a member needs to go back and listen to rock or whatever cause there not a true country fan

Obviously the Opry thought that Carrie is talented enough - she has worked very hard these past four years and they should know, they know the inside workings of the profession - Carrie's peers who vote, vote her the awards, Carrie's peers who vote asked to be inducted into the Opry - and she has worked hard for the Opry and deserves to be a member and so she is!!! Congrats Carrie!
Membership in the Grand Ole Opry used to be a sign that an artist has been at the top ( or very near it ) of country music for years and years. Carrie Underwood is a great voice, and if her career lasts for another 10 or 15 years, than she will earn the the chance to become an Opry Member. She is too new to be a member now!!!!!!!

For all the haters.... can anyone ever deny the loads of talent this beautiful girl possesses ? . She million times better than some studio produced sound artists now. She stayed true to her music and she shines more and more. Though she came from AI, she has proved her self she is more than Karaoke.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Obviously, she has talent.
But, to invite someone whose career only goes back a few years to American Idol, while artists with careers that have spanned decades are invited after many years of making music really cheapens the honor.
Carrie won a contest, then found herself in the enviable position of having tens of millions invested in her highly marketable career.
she's blessed with looks talent intelligence. God allows things to be done differently for his reasons. When first saw her in audition clip- i was wowed & convinced she 's a ready total package and Idol was her instant launching pad. TO BE FAIR TO HER- SURVIVING AM IDOL IS NOT an EASY FEAT- its equivalent to a lifetime of nerve wrecking moments for many/
Well, in my opinion, to a genre of music that is struggling (admit, anymore country music is just pop music with a mandolin, banjo, and steal guitar). And when everything sounds the same, its finally nice to see someone with some TRUE talent draw attention through some mass medie i.e. American Idol. This girl deserves everything she recieves now, she's earned it, and twice over because she is still humble.
I don't know if you realize Carrie did something on American Idol, that's was never she was always either first or second through the whole competition, so as Pete Fischer said the already knew, as soon as she won Idol is going to be a grand ole opry rather quickly, she never ask to be that quick, that's what surprise. Lot of grand ole opry members agree with her selection.
I like the way Randy Travis, surprise her like that. It was a nice reaction by her. But I would like to see whole thing, in which he comes from behind when she is singing his song, I Told You So and praise her for it. And wishes her Happy Birthday and then asking her to be a member.
she is no accident , no luck , she is nothing but 100 percent pure oklahoma talent. carrie underwood to country music is like the wheel to the car , without it , there will be no movement!! she is the best country music singer ever! years years from now she will be remembered as the major building block of country music . it is not carrie underwood that is proud to be a part of coutry music , but it is country music to be proud to be a part of carrie underwood.!! beautiful carrie is the greatest
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
building block for country?? WTF??? Country music has been around longer than any other form of conteporary music, but I would hardly classify Carrie as country. She's more of a pop star who is from the country. I'm from Oklahoma, where the best country music is played on back porches underneath the stars. Unfortunately, you can't find anything that compares to that on the radio.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
this is stack1988 and this little note is to respond to bratattack26 who replied to my comments about carrie underwood and her role in today's country music. first of all I agree with you when you said what we hear on radio is not real country music or what we labol country music. in fact in recent years deanna carter was the last person and closest act to country music and after her the country music "changed" to what we hear and see it today! but this is in reality a good thing & enjoyable!
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
stack 1988 again: so you see what is happening....country music is changing and you see some big acts release their cg on country chart such as eagles, jewel, john bon..and more...today's country music is attractive, alive and real deal. now about carrie underwood whom i respect a lot. you see next 5-10 years she will bust all the charts, break all the records and will become the "major building block" of todays country music. i amn from oklahoma and I am proud of her to remain true to herself....
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
....I am proud of her to give us such a pleasure to listen to her. carrie has handed "success" very "successfully" and for someone being so young to have such a good head on her shoulder is rare! just listen to her when she talks... the lady make sense ...her head not only screwed to her shoulder tightly but it has been "bolted" to her shoulder...I am proud of her for not becoming another "brittney spears" I am proud of her for keeping her body parts to herself and not to "broadcast" it on TV...
..and prints. I am proud of her for being from our state , I am proud of her for being so real, charming, somewhat shy, the real thing . Carrie is not luck or accident . she is 100% pure Oklahoma talent. and she can sing.....indeed she can sing and you can't deny that....her work habits are amazing and she will do whatever it takes to keep producing hit after hit. Carrie enjoys making music as much as we "the fans" enjoy listening to it. I love and respect this first lady of "country music" ever
Im not sure if pt.1 of my comment worked but heres pt.2:Being Canadian,I may not be able to easily relate to the classic "front porch" music style many of you talk about(apologies if that sounds really ignorant cuz it might),but I am a fan of classic country music (J Cash,P Cline)and I believe that the sort of thing ur referring to.If that is the case, then I understand. With that in mind,I think Carrie is still the gem I said she was.Ill explain that point in pt.3
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Oh goody. Another new member that doesn't have time to ever be there. Josh Turner, Pam Tillis, Allison Krauss, Martina McBride........they're all so thrilled to join. You can tell by the number of times they've been there in the last year.
well carrie seems to make time, she has been there more in the last two years than any of the ones you mentioned....she seems to want to make it a priority
You obviously know nothing about the road. When you're in the main stream of country music sometimes your schedule doesn't allow you to "live" at the Grand Ole Opry. Demanding tour schedules, interviews, etc. and let's not forget that you have a personal life as well, geez, we wouldn't want them to have anything like that now would we?
Then people who don't have time to BE a member shouldn't be a MEMBER. You obviously don't know anything about what the Opry is supposed to be but forgotten in recent years.
she obviously has time or else they wouldn't have asked her.they only invite those that have performed there regulary, this is why George Strait hasn't become a member because he only comes to Nashville to record a album, attend the CMA'S,and/or do a concert.
Then people who don't have time to BE a member shouldn't be a MEMBER. You obviously don't know anything about what the Opry is supposed to be but forgotten in recent years.

Carrie totally deserved this. I think what was said at the end, about Carrie's induction helping to keep the Grand Ole Opry relevant in modern music,is very true. Pepole like Carrie are just the thing country music needs at this time. Country music will never die. As a closing note, and I hate to do this, but I am not exactly sure what channel I can see this on,or what time it is on (EST),or even if the induction is televised. Again,I hate to do that but I realy want to see the induction if I can.
Well, I know the Opry is on the cable channel GAC - they have the live Opry show on every Sat night so perhaps Carrie's induction will be televised - if you don't have GAC you can ask your cable provider if they offer it and for a few xtra dollars a month you can get it

She stayed true to her music and she shines more and more. Though she came from AI, she has proved her self she is more than Karaoke.

Who's next? Keith Urban?
cgrsmknwmn 3 years ago
she's blessed with looks talent intelligence. God allows things to be done differently for his reasons. When first saw her in audition clip- i was wowed & convinced she 's a ready total package and Idol was her instant launching pad. TO BE FAIR TO HER- SURVIVING AM IDOL IS NOT an EASY FEAT- its equivalent to a lifetime of nerve wrecking moments for many/
sungl0 3 years ago 4
Well, in my opinion, to a genre of music that is struggling (admit, anymore country music is just pop music with a mandolin, banjo, and steal guitar). And when everything sounds the same, its finally nice to see someone with some TRUE talent draw attention through some mass medie i.e. American Idol. This girl deserves everything she recieves now, she's earned it, and twice over because she is still humble.
bittertasteinmen 3 years ago 5
I don't know if you realize Carrie did something on American Idol, that's was never she was always either first or second through the whole competition, so as Pete Fischer said the already knew, as soon as she won Idol is going to be a grand ole opry rather quickly, she never ask to be that quick, that's what surprise. Lot of grand ole opry members agree with her selection.
row759 3 years ago 3
I like the way Randy Travis, surprise her like that. It was a nice reaction by her. But I would like to see whole thing, in which he comes from behind when she is singing his song, I Told You So and praise her for it. And wishes her Happy Birthday and then asking her to be a member.

she is no accident , no luck , she is nothing but 100 percent pure oklahoma talent. carrie underwood to country music is like the wheel to the car , without it , there will be no movement!! she is the best country music singer ever! years years from now she will be remembered as the major building block of country music . it is not carrie underwood that is proud to be a part of coutry music , but it is country music to be proud to be a part of carrie underwood.!! beautiful carrie is the greatest

building block for country?? WTF??? Country music has been around longer than any other form of conteporary music, but I would hardly classify Carrie as country. She's more of a pop star who is from the country. I'm from Oklahoma, where the best country music is played on back porches underneath the stars. Unfortunately, you can't find anything that compares to that on the radio.

this is stack1988 and this little note is to respond to bratattack26 who replied to my comments about carrie underwood and her role in today's country music. first of all I agree with you when you said what we hear on radio is not real country music or what we labol country music. in fact in recent years deanna carter was the last person and closest act to country music and after her the country music "changed" to what we hear and see it today! but this is in reality a good thing & enjoyable!

stack 1988 again: so you see what is happening....country music is changing and you see some big acts release their cg on country chart such as eagles, jewel, john bon..and more...today's country music is attractive, alive and real deal. now about carrie underwood whom i respect a lot. you see next 5-10 years she will bust all the charts, break all the records and will become the "major building block" of todays country music. i amn from oklahoma and I am proud of her to remain true to herself....

....I am proud of her to give us such a pleasure to listen to her. carrie has handed "success" very "successfully" and for someone being so young to have such a good head on her shoulder is rare! just listen to her when she talks... the lady make sense ...her head not only screwed to her shoulder tightly but it has been "bolted" to her shoulder...I am proud of her for not becoming another "brittney spears" I am proud of her for keeping her body parts to herself and not to "broadcast" it on TV...
stack1998 3 years ago
..and prints. I love and respect this first lady of "country music" ever
stack1998 3 years ago 3
Im not sure if pt.1 of my comment worked but heres pt.2:Being Canadian,I may not be able to easily relate to the classic "front porch" music style many of you talk about(apologies if that sounds really ignorant cuz it might),but I am a fan of classic country music (J Cash,P Cline)and I believe that the sort of thing ur referring to.If that is the case, then I understand. With that in mind,I think Carrie is still the gem I said she was.Ill explain that point in pt.3

Oh goody. Another new member that doesn't have time to ever be there. Josh Turner, Pam Tillis, Allison Krauss, Martina McBride........they're all so thrilled to join. You can tell by the number of times they've been there in the last year.
zaxxir 3 years ago
well carrie seems to make time, she has been there more in the last two years than any of the ones you mentioned....she seems to want to make it a priority
gabygal4u 3 years ago 3
You obviously know nothing about the road. When you're in the main stream of country music sometimes your schedule doesn't allow you to "live" at the Grand Ole Opry. Demanding tour schedules, interviews, etc. and let's not forget that you have a personal life as well, geez, we wouldn't want them to have anything like that now would we?
GeezGetALife 3 years ago
Then people who don't have time to BE a member shouldn't be a MEMBER. You obviously don't know anything about what the Opry is supposed to be but forgotten in recent years.
zaxxir 3 years ago 2
she obviously has time or else they wouldn't have asked her.they only invite those that have performed there regulary, this is why George Strait hasn't become a member because he only comes to Nashville to record a album, attend the CMA'S,and/or do a concert.

Again,I hate to do that but I realy want to see the induction if I can.
horrorfan13666 3 years ago
Well, I know the Opry is on the cable channel GAC - they have the live Opry show on every Sat night so perhaps Carrie's induction will be televised - if you don't have GAC you can ask your cable provider if they offer it and for a few xtra dollars a month you can get it
